The Shen family’s dining table was a circular walnut rotating table in an antique red hue. The old master and old madam sat side by side, with Shen Zui and Jiang Wanting seated next to Old Madam Shen.

“A Zui, stay at the old residence tonight!”

“Alright.” Shen Zui nodded, not even using serving chopsticks, and picked up a piece of braised chicken to place in Jiang Wanting’s bowl.Full novel: No More Pretending: After Transmigrating into the Film Emperor’s Wife, I Got Rich Overnight — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Everyone at the table saw this and knowingly curled their lips in a smile—the brat had finally learned to care for someone.

Mrs. Shen felt a pang of heartache. After all these years, this was the first time she had seen the child serve food to someone else. Even as his mother, she had never received such treatment, yet her daughter-in-law had beaten her to it.

“Auntie, you eat too.” The little girl sitting next to Jiang Wanting imitated Shen Zui and placed a slice of meat into Jiang Wanting’s bowl.

Before Jiang Wanting could recover from Shen Zui serving her food, another piece appeared in her bowl.

“Thank you, sweetheart. You eat too.” Jiang Wanting reciprocated by picking up a slice of boiled meat for the little girl.

Old Madam Shen couldn’t help but chuckle—this was what it meant to have a house full of children and grandchildren! If Shen Zui and Jiang Wanting had a child of their own, she would be overjoyed!

However, Jiang Wanting was still quite young, having just turned twenty and still attending university. Holding their child would probably have to wait another two or three years!

After the meal, everyone celebrated Old Madam Shen’s birthday, each presenting their gifts. Old Madam Shen was particularly pleased with Jiang Wanting’s gift.

Old Madam Shen lacked nothing; sincerity mattered most. She even ordered someone to hang the painting in her bedroom.

Shen Zui’s room was on the third floor.

Jiang Wanting hadn’t expected to stay overnight here. Clenching her hands, she looked left and right—everything here was unfamiliar.

Shen Zui raised an eyebrow slightly and asked her, “What’s wrong?”

“I… want to remove my makeup.”

Shen Zui understood and left the room with a single sentence, “Wait here.”

“Sis?” Shen Zui raised his hand and knocked on the door.

Shen Yiyin was lazily leaning on the sofa, scrolling through videos on her phone. Hearing the knock, she thought she was imagining things.

“Come in.”

“Lend me some makeup remover.”

Shen Yiyin: “?”

After a moment, she understood and pointed to the dressing table, “Find it yourself.”

While Shen Zui searched, Shen Yiyin straightened up. “My dear brother, don’t you have anything to say about your little fiancée?”

Shen Zui paused, holding a bottle of lotion, and said nothing.

“I can tell she’s interested in you, but…”

Shen Zui looked at her curiously, signaling her to continue.

“But she’s interested in your face. You should thank Mom and Dad for giving you such good looks.”

Shen Zui agreed with this statement. He knew most of his fans followed him because of his face. In the past, his company would often ask him to post selfies.

“Do you want to try living with her? Besides, she seems different from the rumors.”

“Aren’t I living with her now?”

“You know what I mean. I hope you two find happiness, not just cohabitate for the sake of it.”

“You’re not getting any younger either. You should worry about yourself!” Shen Zui said expressionlessly, holding a bottle of makeup remover. “Thanks.”

Watching the door close, Shen Yiyin sighed. This brat! He had the nerve to lecture her.

Meanwhile, Jiang Wanting hadn’t yet processed Shen Zui’s words when he returned with the makeup remover.

“Thank you!” Jiang Wanting took the makeup remover and entered the bathroom.

“Um…” Jiang Wanting emerged from the bathroom after removing her makeup. “I don’t have any clothes to change into.”

Shen Zui stiffened slightly. The girl before him had just washed her face, droplets of water still clinging to her fair, delicate skin, with damp strands of hair framing her forehead.

“Borrow something from my sister.”

With that, Shen Zui left the room. He hadn’t been back in years and wasn’t sure if the clothes in his wardrobe were still wearable.

Shen Yiyin hadn’t expected Shen Zui to return. A flicker of mischief flashed in her eyes. “This is new, never worn.”

“Oh, and your clothes have been regularly laundered. Mom added a few new sets just the other day.”

Shen Zui tensed slightly. “Sis, thank you.”

Shen Yiyin sighed softly. “It’s good to have you back.”

Pressing his lips together, Shen Zui left Shen Yiyin’s room.

It wasn’t until Jiang Wanting finished her shower and went to put on the clothes that she realized just how revealing the pajamas Shen Yiyin had given her were.

It was a lotus-colored silk nightgown, with a bra-like decorative detail at the chest—and a low-cut one at that. Jiang Wanting hesitated, unsure whether to wear it or not.

Gritting her teeth, she slipped it on. She hadn’t intended for this, but as she looked at her rosy reflection in the mirror, a blush spread across her cheeks. Well, her figure wasn’t too bad.

Shen Zui was on the sofa, scrolling through his phone, and didn’t notice Jiang Wanting come out.

“I… I’m done showering.” Jiang Wanting towel-dried her hair, deciding to just go with it.

She wasn’t wearing a bra—she never slept in one—and Shen Zui seemed like a gentleman. Surely, he wouldn’t try anything.

Shen Zui set his phone aside and went to the wardrobe to fetch his clothes. When he returned, he saw Jiang Wanting sitting at the vanity, drying her hair. Her skin was pale, and the low neckline of her nightgown revealed the fair, rounded curve of her chest.

From the side, the view was rather striking.

Shen Zui subtly averted his gaze. What on earth had Shen Yiyin given her? She really knew how to look out for him. Unconsciously, he swallowed.

While Shen Zui was showering, Jiang Wanting quickly dried her hair with a hairdryer, then slipped under the covers. Though she was bold by nature, she couldn’t help feeling shy in front of the person she loved.

When Shen Zui emerged, he found Jiang Wanting lying in bed, scrolling through her phone, the blankets pulled tightly around her. He couldn’t help but chuckle softly. He had thought she was daring.

As they lay side by side in bed, Jiang Wanting felt utterly uneasy. This was the first time she had ever shared a bed with a man, and that man happened to be her idol. It felt surreal just thinking about it.

“Can’t sleep?”

Jiang Wanting softly replied, “Mm.” She was actually a bit particular about beds. In a new place, her mind needed time to settle.

Thankfully, they weren’t sharing the same blanket. After midnight, it would be both her and Shen Zui’s birthday. At least she had prepared a gift in advance.

Jiang Wanting silently counted down in her mind. “Happy birthday! Shen Zui.”

Suddenly, she sat up, producing a box from seemingly nowhere.

Shen Zui opened his eyes, greeted by the girl’s clear, bright dark eyes, long and curled lashes, and flawless fair skin.

With her movement, a generous expanse of skin was exposed at her chest—both cute and sensual. Shen Zui’s deep, peach-blossom eyes gradually darkened.

“A birthday gift for you.”

“Thank you. Happy birthday!” Shen Zui took the gift and casually placed it on the nightstand.

After a moment, he asked, “What would you like as a gift?”

Hearing this, Jiang Wanting blinked her almond-shaped eyes and uttered something startling: “How about a kiss from you?”

Time seemed to stand still. Jiang Wanting instinctively licked her dry lips. “If you don’t want to, forget it.”

Shen Zui’s eyes darkened slightly, his Adam’s apple bobbing sensually as he cupped the girl’s neck with one hand and drew her forward, pressing his thin lips to her soft ones in a kiss.

It was a fleeting touch, and the next second, Jiang Wanting heard his deep, mellow voice above her head.

“Sleep.”

Jiang Wanting’s mind seemed to freeze, her heart racing, her ears burning, and her fair face tinged with a faint pink.

Holy shit! Shen Zui really kissed her.

Though it was just a light brush of their lips, her senses were filled with Shen Zui’s crisp, pleasant minty scent. A slight smile curved Jiang Wanting’s lips as she burrowed under the covers.

Under the dim glow of the nightlight, Shen Zui opened his eyes, his gaze lingering on the gift box on the bedside table.
