In the evening, Jiang Wanting once again ordered room service. Fortunately, the food here was quite good, and she wasn’t a picky eater.
After dinner, Jiang Wanting scrolled through short videos for a while, then decided to take a bath. Soaking in a bath during winter was quite comfortable, but she was afraid she might fall asleep, so she didn’t stay in the tub for long before stepping out of the bathroom.
As she walked out of the bathroom while drying her hair, she unexpectedly met a pair of deep brown eyes.
The man was wearing a black overcoat, and his mask had been removed, revealing a handsome face. Beneath his long, narrow peach-blossom eyes was a teardrop mole, and his facial features were flawlessly defined.
Jiang Wanting’s hand, which had been drying her hair, froze. This was too awkward. Could someone please tell her why Shen Zui had returned so early today? Wasn’t it just a little past eight?
“Um… you’re back.”
“Yeah.” Shen Zui took off his overcoat and hung it on the coat rack.
“Have you eaten?” Jiang Wanting quickly tied her hair up in a dry towel.
“Not yet.”
Jiang Wanting padded over to the coffee table in hotel slippers, picked up her phone, and sat on the sofa. “Then I’ll order takeout for you.”
Shen Zui wanted to say it wasn’t necessary, but as he looked into the girl’s bright almond-shaped eyes, the words of refusal stuck in his throat.
Jiang Wanting opened the food delivery app. “What would you like to eat? It’s only a little past eight, so it’s not too late.”
“Anything is fine.” Shen Zui took off his sweater, leaving only a white long-sleeved T-shirt. The fabric was somewhat sheer, revealing his slender neck and a prominent Adam’s apple.
His voice was calm. “I’ll take a shower first.”
Jiang Wanting stared blankly at the man’s retreating figure. Had he just been trying to tempt her? Well, she had to admit she’d fallen for it—she thought she’d caught a glimpse of his abs beneath the white T-shirt.
Jiang Wanting ordered from her usual favorite restaurant. Considering Shen Zui was a celebrity, she chose low-carb options.
While Shen Zui was showering, Jiang Wanting quickly blow-dried her hair and adjusted her bathrobe. She really needed to bring a few sets of pajamas here; otherwise, she’d have to wear a bathrobe every time she visited.
Just as Shen Zui finished his shower, the takeout arrived.
The delivery couldn’t come upstairs, so Jiang Wanting considered going down to get it. Her own jacket was short, and wearing it over her bathrobe would look rather ridiculous. She tried on Shen Zui’s long down jacket instead, but it was so long it nearly touched the floor.
Shen Zui happened to step out of the bathroom just in time to see this. He raised an eyebrow slightly, as if asking why she was secretly wearing his clothes.
Jiang Wanting: “…”
Help! This was a major social disaster! Caught sneaking into someone else’s clothes, and they didn’t even fit properly. It was so awkward she could dig out a three-bedroom apartment with her bare hands.
“Um, the takeout is here. I was going down to get it.” Jiang Wanting lowered her head, staring at her toes, and muttered softly, “My jacket is too short, and it looks a bit weird with this bathrobe.”
Shen Zui towel-dried his short hair, his voice calm. “Call the front desk and have the hotel bring it up.”
Jiang Wanting: “…”
Well, well. Why hadn’t she thought of that? This made her look so unintelligent! What a miscalculation!
In the end, Shen Zui made the call. Jiang Wanting put his jacket back where it belonged, hanging her head in frustration. Time to move to another planet, Jiang Wanting. This was too embarrassing.
Shen Zui couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
Jiang Wanting thought she must have imagined it, but when she looked up, she saw a smile playing at the corners of Shen Zui’s lips, his peach-blossom eyes curved like crescent moons.
“Sorry.”
Jiang Wanting: “…”
Alright, since you’re smiling so handsomely, I’ll forgive you and let bygones be bygones. After all, I like you.
The hotel attendant soon brought the takeout upstairs.
The door was opened by Jiang Wanting.
Seeing her, the waiter couldn’t help but be stunned—damn! There’s a stunning beauty in Shen Zui’s room, is she his fiancée?
The waiter didn’t dare to look too much or say anything.
Jiang Wanting, no longer as flustered as before, took the takeout to the coffee table and opened it. “I ordered low-carb options for you, so you can eat a bit more.”
Shen Zui finished drying his hair and took a closer look. There was quite a lot of food, and it looked appetizing.
“Come on, come on.”
Jiang Wanting served him a bowl of pork tripe and chicken soup. “This soup is really delicious, try it.”
“Thank you!” Shen Zui accepted it.
Watching him eat, Jiang Wanting felt a little hungry too, so she started eating as well.
Shen Zui ate slowly and deliberately, his every move exuding elegance and grace. In contrast, Jiang Wanting ate like a little hamster, appearing somewhat comical and cute.
“Uh…” Jiang Wanting let out a burp. She glanced sheepishly at the man beside her. “Sorry, I’m a bit too full.”
Seeing his calm expression, Jiang Wanting breathed a sigh of relief. Wuwuwu, she wasn’t usually like this. All the image she had maintained for so long had been completely ruined tonight.
Shen Zui glanced at her sideways and cleared the tableware.
Jiang Wanting patted her round little belly. She had eaten too much and felt a bit bloated, which made her uncomfortable.
“Take this.”
Jiang Wanting lifted her eyelids. The man’s clean, slender fingers were holding a box of digestive tablets.
Jiang Wanting was taken aback for a moment before accepting the medicine, looking at him with confusion. “How do you have this?”
“The hotel provides it.”
Jiang Wanting wanted to ask if she could skip taking it. She hated medicine the most—bitter with a strange, unpleasant smell that made her want to vomit just from the scent. But the man had already poured her a glass of water.
Jiang Wanting pouted, resignedly popped out two pills, and then took a sip of water from the glass the man was holding.
Shen Zui froze for a moment. He lowered his gaze, and what met his eyes were the girl’s fair, slender fingers. The warm, delicate touch spread through him like an electric shock, reaching his heart.
After swallowing the pills, Jiang Wanting took another sip of water from the same hand with its distinct knuckles. “Thank you!”
“If you can’t eat more, don’t force it.” Shen Zui dropped this sentence and went into the bathroom.
Jiang Wanting pouted her pink lips. I didn’t want to eat that much either! But you were eating so deliciously, and it’s rare to have a meal with you. She didn’t want to waste any opportunity.
The weather was getting colder. As soon as Shen Zui got into bed, Jiang Wanting shamelessly moved closer to his side. Even though there was heating, a free source of warmth was too good to pass up.
Shen Zui’s hand, which was adjusting the blanket, stiffened. He glanced sideways at the girl beside him.
The girl blinked her onyx-like almond eyes, her voice soft and gentle. “It’s a bit cold. Staying close will keep us warm.”
Shen Zui: “…”
Her actions truly caught him off guard.
Jiang Wanting’s heart pounded wildly. Her face was as thick as a wall. After a few seconds, Shen Zui turned off the light, leaving only a dim yellow nightlight in the room.
Seeing that he didn’t push her away, Jiang Wanting wanted to push her luck further, and so she did. She wrapped her arms around the man’s hand, breathing in his clean, pleasant scent, and couldn’t help but smile.
Shen Zui took a deep breath and said calmly, “Don’t move around.”
Jiang Wanting put away her little schemes, found a comfortable position, and whispered, “Okay, goodnight!”
Shen Zui opened his eyes to look at her. Seeing her breathing steadily, he was momentarily stunned. Did she fall asleep that quickly?
The next day, Shen Zui began filming night scenes, leaving him little time to rest during the day. To ensure he could sleep well, Jiang Wanting decided to return to Qianxing Garden.
Loving someone means being considerate. Although she longed to stay with him, there was no need to rush—after all, Shen Zui was already hers. It wasn’t as if he could run away.
Besides, returning to Qianxing Garden made attending classes more convenient, as the current location was too far from her school.
