“Cough, cough.”
Seeing the looks everyone around was giving him, as if they were staring at some kind of pervert, even Yugi himself felt a little embarrassed.
He coughed twice, then obediently guided his hand to crawl back to the Monster Zone and stand there properly.
Right Arm of the Forbidden One, DEF 300
A total of four cards had been revealed by Magical Fitting Room.
Two of them were the pre-arranged legs set up through <Draw of Fate>, and this Right Arm was the one that luck had turned up this time.
Altogether, three Defense Position monsters now stood on the field.
Of course, Yugi had also brought the accompanying draw cards, things like <White Elephant’s Gift> and <Wonder Wand>, but unfortunately, the little girl hadn’t drawn a single one of them.
With no other choice, she could only end her turn empty-handed.
Kaiba Hanatsuki looked at Elsie’s field, no longer as composed as before.
“Summoning three Exodia parts in one go…”
All the spectators felt the same.
Even though they didn’t believe Elsie could truly wield Exodia the Forbidden One, they were still somewhat unsettled.
It was like watching someone set up some third-rate combo on the field, grinning with that “I’m satisfied” dragon cancer expression, only to realize the opponent not only didn’t scoop, but calmly set a monster face-down in Defense Position.
Even if they had sworn beforehand that they absolutely weren’t playing a Branded deck, you’d still start worrying that they’d specifically teched in a lone Albaz just to target you.
That was exactly Kaiba Hanatsuki’s current mindset.
Simply put, even if the probability was low, it wasn’t zero, so no matter what, there was still some wariness.
“My turn!
Draw!”
Kaiba Hanatsuki glanced at the card in her hand, delight flashing across her face.
“What a perfect draw.
This time, I’ll definitely deal with that little brat.”
“I activate the Spell Card I just drew, <Ancient Rules>!
From my hand, I Special Summon one Level 5 or higher Normal Monster!” She raised another card high, one she had drawn last turn but hadn’t been able to use.
“Appear, <Dragon Spirit of White>!”
A dazzling silver-white radiance burst forth, and a gigantic dragon slightly smaller than Blue-Eyes White Dragon emerged, faint blue light glimmering along its claws and back.
“<Dragon Spirit of White> can be treated as a Normal Monster in the hand or Graveyard, so it can be Special Summoned by <Ancient Rules>.
But once it hits the field, it’s a bona fide Effect Monster!” Kaiba Hanatsuki pointed.
“When this card is Normal or Special Summoned, I can target one Spell or Trap on the opponent’s field to activate its effect, banish it!”
At that moment, Yugi felt a twinge of tension.
It wasn’t that Yugi as a card-player from another world was weak, Elsie’s deck just wasn’t quite up to par.
Kaiba’s Blue Eyes, after all, were part of a complete, well-built deck.
On Yugi’s side…
it was, frankly, just improvisation.
Kaiba Hanatsuki’s gaze wandered as she hesitated for a moment before pointing.
“I’ll banish the card on the left!”
“Got it!” Yugi couldn’t help shouting.
“Chain your effect!
Open the set card and activate the Trap Card <Peaceful Burial>, send one monster from the Deck to the Graveyard!
This turn, I cannot activate this effect or any card with the same name as the card sent to the Graveyard.”
“Are you sending <Exodia the Forbidden One> to the Graveyard…?” Kaiba Hanatsuki furrowed her brow, a sense of foreboding growing stronger.
Of course, it wasn’t that she was thinking weirdly, it was exactly what Yugi had set up.
He had been guiding Elsie to this conclusion all along.
If Elsie hadn’t been so young and naïve, he would have even added verbal cues and expressions to further manipulate and mislead her.
This was his standard tactic in real-life card shops: a combination of verbal harassment and mental pressure, colloquially known as the “annoying-and-destructive” strategy.
Commonly called: the “deserves a smack” tactic.
“If this really is an Exodia…
I can’t keep dragging this out.”
Kaiba Hanatsuki made up her mind.
“Let’s settle this in this turn!”
“I activate <Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon>’s effect, destroy your <Right Foot> at the cost of not being able to attack!”
“Though it’s technically my right foot, that sounded a little weird,” Yugi muttered, rolling his eyes as <Alternative White Dragon>’s beam of pure white light obliterated his own right foot.
For those nearby thinking “What a shame, poor thing”, you may self-punish (no mercy).
“Next, because <Alternative White Dragon> can be treated as <Blue-Eyes White Dragon> while on the field or in the Graveyard, I send it and another <Blue-Eyes White Dragon> to the Graveyard to Special Summon———–”
Kaiba Hanatsuki raised her hand high.
“Come forth, <Blue-Eyes Twin Burst Dragon>!”
The two white dragons gradually fused into one, covered in metallic plating, resembling a high-tech futuristic mechanical dragon.
Of course, its Type remained Dragon, the Kaiba family never abandons dragons.
Blue-Eyes Twin Burst Dragon, ATK 3000.
Although trading two monsters for one 3000-ATK monster seemed like a small loss, <Twin Burst Dragon> could attack twice per Battle Phase and could not be destroyed by battle.
Her <Dragon Spirit of White> jumped along with the last known <Blue-Eyes White Dragon> in hand.
Twin Burst Dragon wiped out two monsters, then directly attacked, dealing exactly 3000 damage to complete the finishing blow.
The only thing Elsie needed to worry about was the set cards in the back row.
But in the freshman stage, even if there were Trap Cards, they were mostly things like <Half Shield> or <Wall of Disruption>, cards that just boosted or reduced attack.
And even if <Blue-Eyes Twin Burst Dragon>’s ATK was lower than the opponent’s, it couldn’t be destroyed by battle itself.
On top of that, if its attack didn’t destroy the opposing monster, its effect would immediately banish it.
In short, Kaiba Hanatsuki’s tactical setup was lethal.
Even many veteran duelists would have been wiped out by it, let alone a new freshman, but she ran into someone from the Underworld.
“Battle Phase!
<Blue-Eyes Twin Burst Dragon>, attack your <Left Foot>!”
For <Dragon Spirit of White> to Special Summon a <Blue-Eyes> in hand, there had to be a monster on the opponent’s field.
Kaiba Hanatsuki was cautious, so she decided to have <Twin Burst Dragon> probe the field first before deciding whether to jump.
Seeing her opponent enter the Battle Phase, Elsie panicked slightly and wanted to activate the one card she knew how to use, but Yugi held her hand down: “Not yet.”
By now, Elsie completely trusted Yugi.
If he said not to move, she obediently did nothing.
“Good, teachable.” Yugi nodded with satisfaction in his mind.
Being inexperienced wasn’t a problem; as long as she practiced, she’d get better.
But if she didn’t even listen…
now that would be a real liability.
“Bang———!”
Seeing that her offense went unopposed, Kaiba Hanatsuki relaxed slightly, but remained cautious.
“<Blue-Eyes Twin Burst Dragon>, attack <Right Arm of the Forbidden One>!”
There was a timing window during Twin Burst’s attack.
She planned to use <Dragon Spirit of White>’s effect then, so even if Elsie tried to flip a Trap Card during the attack, it could still chain.
“This little girl is cautious to an extreme.”
Yugi frowned.
He had wanted her to activate <Dragon Spirit of White> sooner to reduce one attack, but no matter.
Careful or not, there was no way she could anticipate this card.
“Go!”
At his shout, Elsie pressed the button on the Duel Disk with all her strength: “I activate the Trap Card, <Magical Hats>!”
