21 – If you don’t behave, I’ll lock you up
He was angry.
This realization did leave Bo Zhi somewhat bewildered, because Fu Jingyan rarely got angry with her.
He was always polite yet distant, aloof and indifferent, reserved and proud, seldom revealing his emotions to others.
Hesitantly, she approached the tall, slender young man under the tree, inexplicably lacking confidence. “Wh-what?”
“Sit down.”
He gestured to the bench beneath the tree.
Bo Zhi let out an “oh” and, unusually obedient, sat down quietly.
The young man stood before her, as if shrouded in a thin veil.
Then, he slowly crouched down in front of her, silently unwrapping the plastic bag and taking out the disinfectant supplies inside.
Bo Zhi proactively tilted her head back, leaning closer to him.
His movements paused slightly, but he said nothing, dipping a cotton swab in alcohol.
“Are you angry?” Bo Zhi blinked and asked.
Fu Jingyan remained silent, pressing the cotton swab against the wound on her cheek.
“Ouch, ouch, ouch…”
Bo Zhi winced in pain, shrinking back with teary eyes, her eyelashes damp and fluttering.
“Can’t you be gentler? This is deliberate revenge!”
Fu Jingyan held the back of her head with one hand, preventing her from retreating.
“Will you dare again?” he asked, his tone flat and emotionless.
Bo Zhi glared at him angrily, her eyes brimming with tears.
The young man’s obsidian-like dark gaze fell on her reddened eye corners, and without any emotion, he extended the cotton swab toward the wound once more.
Bo Zhi instinctively closed her eyes. “I won’t dare again!”
The expected sting didn’t come. Instead, she felt a gentle breeze brush over the wound, instantly soothing the burning pain.
Huh?
“Bo Zhizhi.”
A faint breath fell on her face, tingling and slightly itchy.
Just as Bo Zhi was about to open her eyes, she heard his cool, restrained voice in her ear.
“If you don’t learn to behave, I’ll lock you up.”
…
Damn.
Bo Zhi snapped back to reality. At the time, it hadn’t seemed like much, but now it sounded strange.
This old fox… he was quite twisted even when he was young.
“Zhizhi-jie, let’s go.” Jiang Can urged her excitedly.
Bo Zhi was taken aback. “Go where?”
She had been completely lost in thought and hadn’t heard a word the director said.
“To fulfill my first love regret~”
His card read: Because I was too timid back then, I never managed to sing the song I wanted to my first love at the campus singing competition.
Missing out due to timidity did sound quite regrettable.
The production team immediately arranged it for Jiang Can.
“Next, let’s head to the school auditorium. Brother Jiang Can can choose a female guest he’s interested in and perform the song he couldn’t sing back then for her on stage.”
“Ah, do I have to choose a female guest?”
Jiang Can scratched his head somewhat sheepishly, seeming a bit embarrassed.
Zhu Luoling gently tucked her hair behind her ear, comforting him like a caring older sister. “It’s fine, we’d be happy to.”
The implication was for Jiang Can to choose her.
Jiang Can blinked his big, doll-like eyes, looking genuinely moved.
Then, with full confidence, he declared, “Then I’ll choose Zhizhi-jie!”
Sister Zhu Zhu is really nice, but this situation is too awkward. I’d better not trouble Sister Zhu Zhu.
Zhu Luoling: “…”
Her lips stiffened, no longer willing to smile.
Bo Zhi couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
She could naturally see the little schemes in Zhu Luoling’s mind, but against a simple and sincere young idol, no amount of scheming would work.
“Having fun?”
A lazy, pleasant voice sounded faintly by her ear.
Bo Zhi tilted her head, meeting Fu Jingyan’s indifferent expression head-on. The man gazed at her with leisurely composure.
Bo Zhi slightly lifted her chin, deliberately provoking him by speaking the truth.
“Happy, of course.”
A popular young idol singing a love song for her—who wouldn’t be happy?
Fu Jingyan’s face instantly darkened, his phoenix-like eyes fixed on her, seemingly flickering with an unfathomable, intense depth.
He uttered a single word in a cold, detached tone.
“Fine.”
【Oh wow, Yan Shen’s reaction—is he angry? Could he be jealous?】
【Honestly, it seems like it.】
【Jealous? How could Yan Shen possibly be jealous? He’s clearly angry because Bo Zhi doesn’t know what’s good for her. His MV fiancée interacting romantically with someone else would naturally make him angry… right?】
【…Are you even listening to yourself?】
On the way to the auditorium.
Fu Jingyan walked beside Bo Zhi and suddenly lowered his voice, speaking casually, “I’m going to dye my hair tonight.”
A question mark popped up over Bo Zhi’s head.
She didn’t understand why the topic had shifted so abruptly.
Then she saw Fu Jingyan raise his hand and point to the silver-blue, cool-toned, tousled hair that had captivated countless young girls.
Fu Jingyan’s blue hair had once topped global trends.
As a top-tier idol hailed as an “Eastern Myth,” his cool blue hair made him look like a deity who had stepped out of a painting.
Now, he said in a calm voice, “I want to dye this thing green.”
Bo Zhi: “…”
Is. That. Really. Necessary?!
Bo Zhi, afraid of being caught on camera and unable to deal with this petty man, simply covered her mouth and whispered, “Why don’t you go up and let Jiang Can sing for you instead?”
Fu Jingyan visibly froze in disbelief for a moment.
Bo Zhi suddenly thought it was a great idea. “A young idol passionately singing a love song for a top-tier idol—wouldn’t that be a surefire way to top the trending charts?”
Fu Jingyan took a deep breath, so annoyed that he turned her little head away.
“Shut your mouth. Don’t talk to me.”
“…”
The guests arrived at the school auditorium and took their seats in the first row of the audience.
To liven things up, the production team didn’t clear out the students. The seats behind them were immediately snatched up, filling the entire auditorium to capacity.
“Ahhh, Yan Shen!!! Yan Shen!!!”
Screams erupted one after another. Fu Jingyan nodded slightly in acknowledgment.
Zhu Zhou sat down beside him and asked with a gentle smile, “Not in the mood?”
Fu Jingyan replied indifferently, “It’s fine.”
Elegant as bamboo in a forest, refined and gentle in demeanor.
Zhu Zhou chuckled and turned his gaze away.
For some reason, he always felt that this legendary top-tier idol wasn’t quite as aloof and untouchable as the rumors suggested.
Fu Jingyan was indeed feeling a bit displeased, but the moment Jiang Can’s singing began…
He realized it was completely unnecessary.
On the auditorium stage.
The young idol, dressed in a blue-and-white school uniform, held a microphone, his eyes bright and sunny, his smile seemingly capable of healing an entire summer.
His smiling eyes curved as he gazed at the beautiful girl across from him.
It should have been an incredibly romantic scene—until he started singing:
“Vast horizons are my love, flowers bloom beneath the rolling green hills!”
“What kind of song is the most swaying, what kind of song brings the most joy!!”
Fu Jingyan: “…”
Everyone: “…”
Bo Zhi, who had been smiling brightly, completely deflated upon hearing the song.
Excuse me?
Little brother, are you for real?
【Hahahaha, I can’t stop laughing. What kind of dramatic scene is this?】
【Bo Zhi: 6】
[“Zhi-jie: Don’t get the wrong idea, I don’t smile because I’m just not a smiling person by nature.”]
[“Singing ‘The Most Dazzling Ethnic Style’ for your first crush, Can-bao, you really are something hahaha [thumbs up]”]
[“All I can say is, it’s a good thing it didn’t work out back then hhhh, otherwise I’d feel sorry for the girl.”]
Bo Zhi knew Jiang Can was unreliable.
After a moment of silence, she simply stood up, walked over, and picked up another microphone.
Fu Jingyan in the audience: “…”
It seemed to awaken certain memories in his mind.
He silently raised his hand and covered his ears.
Zhu Zhou: “??”
