Jin Chen said he wanted to take Zhong Yi to a restaurant for dinner.

Zhong Yi naturally refused.

Especially since Jin Chen was far too conspicuous—gossip and rumors about private dinners with the opposite sex spread the fastest.

If word got out, the entire company would be filled with whispers and speculation, which would be truly unpleasant.

Jin Chen hadn’t thought that far ahead. In his mind, Zhong Yi would eventually be his, someone he would marry and register with, so it didn’t matter if others saw them.

It was just a matter of revealing things a little earlier.

But since he had promised to give her some time to think things over, he naturally respected her opinion.

Jin Chen didn’t force Zhong Yi, but he didn’t give much ground either, speaking in his usual domineering tone: “Then we’ll go to my place.”

“No way!”

Zhong Yi had never been to a man’s home before.

“You have to go.” This was non-negotiable. Hearing that she hadn’t been eating much lately, Jin Chen was worried: “I’ll take you home right after dinner.”

“President Jin, is there no one at your place?”

“I live alone. The housekeeper is a good cook. She used to work as a postpartum caregiver, so she knows how to take care of pregnant women.”

Zhong Yi was clearly conflicted and hesitant.

Seeing through her concerns, Jin Chen said bluntly: “You’re pregnant—what could I possibly do to you?”

“…”

Zhong Yi went back to his place with Jin Chen.

Jin Chen usually lived in a spacious apartment close to the company for convenience. Preferring peace and quiet, he only had one housekeeper at home.

When the housekeeper saw Jin Chen bringing a woman home for the first time ever, she was clearly stunned, wondering if she had opened the door the wrong way.

Mr. Jin had never brought a strange woman home before.

What was this girl’s relationship with President Jin?

Jin Chen led Zhong Yi inside directly: “Aunt Liu, you’ve taken care of pregnant women before and have plenty of experience. Zhong Yi has no appetite—make something she can eat.”

Pregnant?

Aunt Liu was dumbfounded.

Deeply shocked inside.

Mr. Jin had always kept quiet, but when he finally spoke up, he truly amazed everyone.

He had never been in a relationship before, and the first time he brought a woman home, she was already pregnant.

He went straight to the finish line.

Truly a man who worked silently but achieved great things.

Aunt Liu quickly replied: “Then I’ll go prepare right away.”

Zhong Yi looked around Jin Chen’s home. It was spacious and large, with tasteful, high-quality decor and a unique style that clearly reflected a single man’s aesthetic.

It was just that, from a young age, her mother had been extremely strict with her. Even talking to a man alone would earn her a scolding, let alone visiting a man’s home.

Zhong Yi sat on the sofa, feeling uneasy and restrained.

Jin Chen poured a glass of water for Zhong Yi and asked with amusement: “So worried I’ll make a move on you?”

“No,” Zhong Yi explained. “I’m just not used to it.”

Even though they had been intimate and she was carrying his child, in Zhong Yi’s mind, the awareness that Jin Chen was her superior was deeply ingrained. She was accustomed to their superior-subordinate relationship, and being in this situation now left her feeling lost and uncomfortable.

The corners of Jin Chen’s lips lifted. “It’s your own home. The first time is unfamiliar, the second time is familiar.”

He sent a suggestive, intimate signal, but Zhong Yi didn’t pick up on it and instead changed the subject: “Aunt Liu won’t let anything slip, will she? Will she tell the elders?”

“Aunt Liu is someone I hired myself. If I tell her not to say anything, she won’t dare to spread it.”

Jin Chen didn’t dwell on Zhong Yi’s earlier evasion.

After all, he had plenty of patience and time.

…

Aunt Liu quickly prepared four dishes and a soup.

Although Zhong Yi was hungry, she hadn’t had much appetite lately. But when she saw Aunt Liu bring out the fish-flavored eggplant and smashed cucumber, her stomach immediately began to rumble.

She eagerly picked up a bite and put it in her mouth, instantly awakening her taste buds.

Her eyes lit up as she praised it endlessly.

“It’s so delicious!”

“Aunt Liu, your cooking is amazing!”

Aunt Liu smiled with relief. “Pregnant women often have strong aversions and can’t stand greasy smells. One of my previous employers also had severe morning sickness and loved the cold dishes I made the most.”

“Even if you have no appetite, you still have to force yourself to eat a little. Otherwise, your body won’t get the nutrients it needs, and you won’t be able to hold up, let alone the baby in your belly.”

“The baby in your belly is like a seed in the soil. Only when the soil is nourished can the seed sprout and grow strong.”

Aunt Liu’s cooking was indeed good, and Zhong Yi ate a few bites without any aversion, slowly finishing half a bowl of rice.

Jin Chen sat across from her, memorizing every bite she took.

It was the first time he had the patience to watch a woman eat.

It was actually quite interesting, and he even felt the urge to feed her himself.

Not long after the meal, Zhong Yi rushed to the bathroom to vomit again.

Tears and mucus streamed down her face as she struggled for over ten minutes, even getting her clothes dirty.

Jin Chen wrung out a towel and gently wiped her face. “Go take a shower and change your clothes. I’ll have someone bring you a clean set.”

“Here?” Zhong Yi instinctively clutched her collar.

Jin Chen noticed her wariness. “If you’re not comfortable, you can use the guest room.”

“I’ll go to the guest room,” Zhong Yi replied without hesitation.

She hurried into the guest room and, after showering, found that the clothes hadn’t arrived yet. Jin Chen suggested she lie down on the bed for a while.

Exhausted from the day’s events and the strain of vomiting, Zhong Yi felt every pore in her body relax as soon as she lay down. The bed beneath her was soft and comfortable, far better than her own hard mattress. Indulging in the luxury, she soon felt drowsiness wash over her and fell asleep just like that.

Jin Chen entered with the clothes, knocking on the door but receiving no response. He walked in and saw a motionless figure curled up under the covers, quiet and peaceful.

He softened his footsteps and approached the bed, gazing down at her.

The woman on the bed wore no makeup, her clean and delicate face gentle and serene in sleep.

Jin Chen found himself captivated. A sudden impulse seized him, and he leaned down, pressing a soft kiss to her tender red lips.

He had intended only a brief kiss to satisfy his longing, but her lips were as soft and bouncy as jelly. Once he tasted them, he couldn’t bring himself to pull away. Rationality shattered in an instant, replaced by greed and desire for more.

The woman on the bed slept deeply, and Jin Chen moved with careful restraint. Cradling the back of her neck with his large hand, he gently sucked and nibbled on her soft lips, parting them to explore further, claiming her mouth as his own.

It wasn’t until Zhong Yi let out an uncomfortable moan that Jin Chen reluctantly ended the dishonorable kiss.

Withdrawing from her mouth, his low, husky voice carried a deep amusement. “Sleep well.”

He turned off the lights in the room and left.

Only after the bedroom door had been closed for a while, certain there was no further movement, did Zhong Yi slowly open her eyes.

She had been holding her breath uncomfortably and now gasped for air, her chest heaving.

Her fingers touched her damp lips.

Her heart pounded wildly.

Mr. Jin had actually kissed her in secret.

Zhong Yi hadn’t woken up when Jin Chen first kissed her, but as his movements grew more intense, she awoke from lack of oxygen. He had been too engrossed to notice her discomfort.

Afraid of embarrassing Jin Chen, Zhong Yi hadn’t pushed him away.

It was only when she could no longer pretend that she feigned a slight, disturbed resistance.

Zhong Yi wasn’t sure if she should get out of bed now.

But if she did, would Jin Chen realize she had been pretending to sleep earlier?

Forget it, Zhong Yi decided to lie down for another half hour before going out.

Her mind wandered aimlessly while uncontrollably reliving the kiss from earlier.

Before she knew it, she had fallen asleep again.

When she opened her eyes, the morning light was already streaming in outside.

!!!

She sat up in shock!

How had she fallen asleep!

How could she have spent the night at Mr. Jin’s place!

It’s over—this makes their relationship even more unclear.

Fresh clothes and new toiletries were neatly arranged by the bedside.

By the time Zhong Yi finished washing up and stepped out, it was already nine in the morning. At this hour, Jin Chen should have been at the office, but today, he was sitting on the sofa reading a book.

A parenting book, no less.

Accompanying Your Wife Through Pregnancy

Wife…

Such an intimate word.

Zhong Yi’s face flushed slightly. “Mr. Jin, I should head back now.”

Jin Chen set the book aside, his voice gentle. “Are you hungry? Let’s have breakfast first. I’ll take you back afterward.”

He looked completely composed and unruffled, as if he hadn’t been the one sneaking a kiss the night before.

Zhong Yi nodded without saying much else.

Aunt Liu prepared some pickled vegetables for her to mix with the congee.

“Even though pregnant women have dietary restrictions, it’s fine to eat a little of these. It’s better to eat something than nothing at all.”

“When my daughter was pregnant, she couldn’t stomach the meals at home. Her mother-in-law read online that she couldn’t eat this or that, and my daughter nearly starved herself into a miscarriage. I was so angry I brought her back home. There’s nothing you can’t eat—even instant noodles are fine. You have to survive, right?”

Aunt Liu thoughtfully ladled the congee for her. “Be careful, don’t burn yourself.”

Zhong Yi took it, feeling a pang of envy as she listened to Aunt Liu standing up for her daughter. “You’re so good to your daughter.”

Aunt Liu replied, “She’s my only daughter. Who else would I be good to if not her?”
