“Gahahahaha!
My dear Kaido, where do you think you’re running?”
“Come face me head-on!”
Amid the ruined town, Carlo—sprouting a pair of golden wings from his back—wore a mocking smile as he pursued the frantically fleeing Kaido.
The situation had completely reversed from earlier when Kaido had relentlessly bombarded him.
The one getting beaten black and blue, looking thoroughly disheveled, was now the once-arrogant Kaido.
Meanwhile, Carlo, whose physical strength had made massive strides and who was now utilizing his Mythical Zoan Hybrid Form, had become the absolute dominant force.
*Whoosh!!*
Smoke and dust rolled across the ruins, blasted aside by a high-speed airflow like a surging dragon.
A pair of brilliant golden wings, appearing as if formed from countless golden blades, flapped violently to churn the air within tens of meters.
Carrying Carlo’s six-meter-tall body, he wove through the collapsed buildings at a speed far exceeding his previous limits.
Every now and then, he executed a series of gorgeous dives and climbs.
He moved like a high-speed fighter jet performing a brilliant aerial display.
His current speed far surpassed the Soru he had used earlier.
His mobility in midair was vastly superior to stepping on air with Geppo.
This was the power of a Devil Fruit.
The Hybrid Form of the Garuda granted him the freedom of flight in the sky—a capability that physical techniques like Geppo or Soru simply could not match.
On the ground below, Kaido sprinted with gritted teeth, his eyes filled with humiliation and rage.
Sensing the sound of wind rapidly approaching behind him once more, he braked sharply, turned hard to the right, and ducked into the narrow gap between two relatively intact buildings, hoping to use them to block Carlo’s line of sight and put distance between them.
“Give up!
You can’t escape!”
“Kaido!!”
In the sky, Carlo matched the turn at extreme speed.
With a single flap of his wings, the raging airflow swept his body through a clean, sharp right-angle turn, diving straight into the narrow alley where Kaido was fleeing.
The street was only about five meters wide.
Meanwhile, Carlo’s golden wings spanned well over ten meters.
Kaido had clearly calculated this, intending to use the buildings as obstacles to impede Carlo’s flight.
Although both knew these structures were no stronger than blocks of tofu against power of their caliber, delaying Carlo for even a second or two would be a win for Kaido. This chapter is updated first at g.com.
However, flying through the air, Carlo paid the narrow alley no mind and plunged straight in.
On his fully extended wings, the golden feathers gleamed like golden blades in the sunlight, radiating an exceptionally sharp, icy glint.
The rigid wingtips sliced into the brick walls of the buildings on either side like the sharpest of famous blades.
Thick brick walls were pierced and severed without resistance, smooth as a hot knife through butter, failing to slow Carlo down for even a fraction of a second.
As Carlo sped between the two structures, the tens-of-meters-tall buildings on both sides looked as though they had been sliced in half by an invisible blade, their top halves sliding downward with a thunderous roar.
Kaido, who had hoped to gain ground, failed completely.
Instead, due to his sudden turn, he was caught by the faster Carlo, who dived down and hurled a heavy punch directly at his upper back!
“Damn it!”
Gritting his teeth, Kaido cursed internally and spun around without hesitation, swinging his kanabo wildly at the descending Carlo.
“Get the hell off me, annoying Marine brat!”
Carlo’s wings snapped shut before him.
Sliding past the swinging kanabo, he spun dozens of times like a drill before driving a fist straight into Kaido’s shoulder socket, blasting Kaido backward into a house, which exploded into rubble upon impact.
“Hahaha!
Now you find me annoying?
Weren’t you having a blast earlier, threatening to wring my neck?”
Carlo flapped his wings again, churning up a surging gale that kicked up dust and stones.
A shower of broken debris, whipped up by the wind, bombarded Kaido violently.
At the same time, Carlo closed the distance, his clenched right fist blasting through the air toward Kaido’s face on the ground.
“Get away from me!!”
Enraged, Kaido swung his kanabo, bursting through the air to jab directly at Carlo’s face.
*Clang-clang-clang!*
In a metallic chorus of screeching friction, two golden wings extended from behind Carlo and crossed in front of him like two indestructible shields, intercepting Kaido’s kanabo before it could reach his face.
*Clang!!*
An ear-splitting explosion shattered the air between them.
The crossed golden wings merely dipped slightly.
Kaido’s violently hurled kanabo was firmly parried and held at bay! Visit g.com for the full chapter.
The only cost was a dozen or so trivial feathers knocked loose from his wings.
[Devil Fruit Development +2]
*As expected, with proper application, any part of the body can be used for combat!
Even wings from a Mythical Zoan don’t have to be limited to flying!*
Ever since he consumed the fruit and realized his wings were no less hard or sharp than high-grade Meito blades, Carlo had contemplated using them in combat.
Now, putting the concept into practice, the wings delivered an even greater pleasant surprise.
Because he had already mastered Life Return—an advanced body control technique that allowed him to manipulate every muscle in his body—he was able to master the wings on his back to perfection in an extremely short time.
Successfully blocking Kaido’s strike was equivalent to gaining two extra arms, two shields, and two razor-sharp blades that could slice through iron like butter.
Gazing through the gap in his wings at Kaido, who was glaring back furiously, Carlo twitched his shoulder blades.
The wings covering his front flipped outward with explosive force, flinging Kaido’s pressing kanabo away.
Almost simultaneously, Carlo’s fully charged right fist smashed through the air, striking Kaido square in the face!
*Crack!*
Kaido’s high nose bridge shattered under the blow, spraying two streams of blood.
Taking such a heavy hit, Kaido went flying backward once more.
The world before his eyes blurred.
His head spun in complete disorientation.
Even the kanabo held tightly in his hand slipped from his grip, clattering to the ground.
Before his back could hit the earth, Carlo flapped his wings furiously backward!
*Whoosh!*
His body shot forward like a projectile.
Reaching out, his right hand caught up with the airborne Kaido, grabbing him firmly by the ankle.
Five blackened fingers dug into Kaido’s muscles, lifting his massive body high into the air.
With wild laughter, Carlo slammed him violently into the ground!
*Boom!!*
