Kaido was slammed deep into the earth by Carlo.
A deep, human-shaped crater was gouged into the ground, its edges so neatly defined that even the curved horns on Kaido’s head were clearly visible.
That brutal impact actually knocked the groggy Kaido awake.
Enraged, he propped himself up, blood still leaking from his nose and mouth as he glared furiously at Carlo.
“Carlo!
You bastard—”
*BOOM!*
His words were cut short as Carlo swung his arm once more.
Grabbing Kaido by the ankle with his right hand, Carlo yanked him from the pit and slammed him violently onto the ground on the opposite side.
Another human-shaped crater shattered into existence, this time with Kaido face-down.
With his mouth stuffed with dirt and unable to speak, he could only push desperately against the ground, trying to break free.
But Carlo was already having fun.
“Hoo-ahhhh!!”
Uttering a strange cry, Carlo held Kaido by the ankle like a meteor hammer and went to town, wildly thrashing him against the surrounding terrain.
The ground, already reduced to a ruinous mess, became even more demolished under the brutal punishment of Kaido’s body.
*BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!*
The earth rumbled relentlessly.
Fissures spider-webbed out in all directions as the entire island seemed to tremble slightly.
Carlo’s wild thrashing left Kaido utterly dizzy and limp, coughing up blood continuously.
Along the way, he took several of Carlo’s heavy punches, which shattered several of his ribs.
Only after being slammed dozens of times—completely drained of strength and stripped of all his temper—did Carlo roar and hurl him away like a shot put.
Kaido traced a graceful parabola over the shattered landscape and plunged headfirst into the sea wall along the coast of Rocky Port.
“Man, he’s tough.
Still not dead after that?”
Seeing Kaido’s cockroach-like vitality, even Carlo couldn’t help but marvel.
Glancing over at Kaido’s kanabo fallen nearby in the dust, Carlo walked over, picked it up, flapped his wings, and lazily flew toward Kaido’s direction.
Just as Carlo assumed Kaido would be completely stripped of his ability to move even if he wasn’t dead—and planned to use Kaido’s own iron club to give him a proper thrashing—his jaw dropped.
Stuck upside down into the shore, Kaido suddenly pushed off the ground with both hands, yanking his head out of the dirt.
Then, without looking back, he plunged straight into the ocean ahead!
*Splash!*
A plume of water erupted on the harbor’s surface. The source of this chapter is g.com.
Kaido’s massive body shot into the deep ocean like a fish.
His speed left Carlo utterly dumbfounded.
Carlo hadn’t expected this at all.
Before becoming a Devil Fruit user, this bastard was actually a master swimmer!
At this rate of dive, he was probably no slower than an ordinary Fish-Man!

At the very moment Kaido jumped into the sea to escape, on a pirate ship several thousand meters away…
A blonde man with a white crescent mustache stood leaning on a massive naginata.
A red glint flickered in his eyes as he sensed the situation over at Rocky Port, his brow furrowing with a look of surprise and confusion.
“It’s been at least three hours since that rookie named Kaido started throwing a rampage in Rocky Port, hasn’t it?”
“Why is the battle over there still going?”
“Is this Kaido guy really that strong, or was Samuro hiding his strength?”
The man had never seen Kaido in person.
So even though he could sense two exceptionally powerful presences with his Observation Haki, he couldn’t tell which one belonged to the pirate rookie he was searching for.
Sensing carefully, he picked up the telescope hanging beside him and peered toward the harbor where the two presences were located.
This single glance caught the exact moment Kaido plunged into the sea to flee.
It also caught sight of Carlo, wings spread on his back, giving chase right behind him.
Looking through the telescope at the kanabo in Carlo’s hand, and then recalling the horned Oni giant who had just leaped into the sea, the blonde man was instantly stunned.
“Uh…”
“Between these two…
which one is Kaido?”

Over Rocky Port harbor, Carlo accelerated and flew above the water.
His golden vertical pupils contracted as his powerful vision penetrated the dark seawater, barely catching Kaido’s rapidly receding silhouette.
His cheek twitched slightly.
“Hey!
Kaido!”
“You bastard, you’re leaving your own weapon behind?!”
He roared down toward the water.
He had no idea if his voice could penetrate the deep sea to reach Kaido’s ears.
Kaido was diving extremely fast.
Within a dozen seconds, Carlo lost all visual sight of him from the sky.
Red light flashed in Carlo’s eyes as he tried to use Observation Haki to search for Kaido’s whereabouts.
His current Observation Haki was clearly not yet powerful enough to pierce through such dense interference.
Even so, Carlo’s face showed little impatience.
Instead, a smirk played across his lips.
“Poor Kaido, how long can you actually hold your breath underwater?”
Flapping the wings on his back, he climbed slightly to a height of one hundred meters above the sea, overlooking the vast surface below.
A pair of golden vertical pupils scanned the ocean like a searching spotlight, catching every single ripple on the water.
Five minutes.
Ten minutes.
Twenty minutes!
Carlo waited in the sky for nearly thirty minutes before his pupils suddenly shrank and he turned his head in a specific direction.
The corners of his mouth curled into a teasing grin.
“Couldn’t hold it in any longer and finally surfaced?”
“Hajido, you sure can hold your breath, can’t you?”
A string of bubbles suddenly burst onto the sea surface two to three hundred meters away.
A bald head with two bull horns popped out with a loud splash, gasping frantically for air.
His face turned a deep shade of purple, but before Kaido could even catch his breath, the skin on the back of his neck tightened sharply.
His heart dropped.
He turned his head stiffly, only to see two glaring red lights glowing on the face of Carlo floating in midair.
“Damn it!
That move again!”
With a grim expression, Kaido took a deep breath without thinking and plunged headfirst back into the water.
However, the incoming attack arrived even faster than he anticipated!
*Zzzzt!*
Two blood-red laser beams shot out from Carlo’s eyes.
Traversing hundreds of meters of open air in an instant, they struck Kaido’s back with pinpoint precision.
The diving Kaido felt as though he had been hit by a cannonball, sinking toward the depths at an even faster speed.
The muscles on his back burned with excruciating, searing pain.
The terrifyingly high temperature of the crimson lasers couldn’t even be blocked by the ocean water above his head.
The seawater boiled instantly, releasing a mass of bubbles.
The area of the sea where he was located churned frantically, rising into great plumes of white steam.
The lasers streaming from Carlo’s eyes lasted for over ten seconds before finally ceasing.
Flying over the bubbling surface, red light flickered in Carlo’s eyes as his Observation Haki surged out, probing deep into the ocean below.
“Found you!”
