Within the Whitebeard Pirates, Jozu merely felt that Pops had made the decision a little too hastily.

But the others did not necessarily feel the same way.

Even if Ren Mori was currently nothing more than a Division Commander without any members, he was still a Division Commander in name.Full novel: One Piece: The 17th Division Of Whitebeard Pirate’s — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

If it had been someone whose strength everyone acknowledged, perhaps no one would have cared much.

But since it was Ren Mori, quite a few people inevitably felt somewhat dissatisfied.

After all, in their eyes, the prerequisite for becoming a Division Commander was strength.

Of course, someone who possessed both strength and intelligence would be even more convincing.

But what use was intelligence alone without strength?

Ren Mori, however, did not care what the ordinary crew members thought.

If becoming a Division Commander had not been one of the conditions required to activate the System, he would not have wanted to get involved in something like this in the first place.

After all, being a Division Commander was nowhere near as wonderful as people imagined.

If something went wrong, the Division Commander would be the one held responsible.

While everyone was still discussing the matter among themselves, Whitebeard’s voice interrupted them.

“That’s enough.

I’ve made up my mind.” “It’s settled.

Ren Mori will be the provisional Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates’ 17th Division.” “Tonight, we’ll hold a proper celebration!” Whitebeard did not know whether everyone else was happy about it.

But he certainly was.

Of course, what made him happy was not Ren Mori becoming a Division Commander.

It was tonight’s celebration.

Due to the hidden injuries that had accumulated over the years, Whitebeard’s health was no longer what it used to be.

Because of this, Marco was always telling him to drink less.

But whenever there was a celebration, they would loosen the restrictions on Pops for once.

At most, they would give him a few words of advice instead of stopping him as firmly as they normally did.

The instant everyone heard that there would be a banquet, they erupted in cheers and immediately began making preparations.

As for Ren Mori, he had already gotten what he wanted.

Amid the noisy crowd, he quietly slipped away and returned to his room before locking the door behind him.

Ding!

The conditions for System activation have been fulfilled.

Ding!

The System is activating.

Ding!

Activation successful.

Ding!

Congratulations, Host.

You have obtained a Newbie Gift Pack.

As the mechanical voice faded, a virtual panel suddenly appeared in front of Ren Mori.

Only he could see it.

Host: Ren Mori Bound To: Whitebeard Pirates’ 17th Division Abilities: None Special Abilities: None (Can be obtained through System rewards or inherited from division members.) Summoning Points: 0 (0/100) (May randomly drop from people or things encountered by the Host.) Summoned Characters: None Inventory: Newbie Gift Pack Seeing one “None” after another, Ren Mori’s mood immediately soured.

It was not until he saw the Newbie Gift Pack sitting in the Inventory that he finally felt a little better.

“You showed up more than ten years late.

If this Newbie Gift Pack isn’t something good, even you won’t be able to justify it.” Ren Mori looked at the virtual panel in front of him and complained.

Then, without any further hesitation, he opened the Newbie Gift Pack.

Ding!

Congratulations, Host.

You have opened the Newbie Gift Pack and obtained the reward: Wood Release.

Ding!

Congratulations, Host.

You have opened the Newbie Gift Pack and obtained 100 Summoning Points.

Ding!

Congratulations, Host.

You have opened the Newbie Gift Pack and obtained Tempering Card ×1.

As the System’s voice faded, Ren Mori froze for a moment.

Wood Release?

Summoning Points?

A Tempering Card?

Damn…

This Newbie Gift Pack was seriously generous.

Ren Mori could barely contain his excitement.

An indescribable sense of satisfaction surged through him.

So this…

was what it felt like to have a cheat!

He knew exactly what the first two rewards were.

But when his gaze fell on the Tempering Card, he stroked his chin and sank into thought.

Several minutes passed.

Ren Mori still had no idea what the thing was supposed to do.

“This System really is something.

The least you could do is give me an instruction manual.” Ren Mori complained again.

Still, adhering to the principle that anything produced by the System had to be good, he did not think too deeply about it.

“Use the Tempering Card!” Ding!

Command received.

The cold mechanical voice faded.

And suddenly, Ren Mori felt as though his entire body was about to explode.

Golden light erupted from every inch of him.

Then his skin began to crack.

Even more dazzling golden light shone through the cracks.

Of course, the pain came right along with it.

It felt as though tens of thousands of ants were biting him all over his body.

Ren Mori immediately collapsed to the floor and began rolling around in agony.

Before long, the room that had originally been neat and tidy was left in complete disarray.

Fortunately, the pain did not last for too long.

“Hah…

hah…

hah…

hah…” Ren Mori lay sprawled across the floor, staring straight up at the ceiling.

He greedily gulped down air.

“Damn it!” Even Ren Mori could not stop himself from swearing.

“System, I seriously recommend adding an instruction manual!

At least give me some mental preparation before pulling something like that!” Ding!

Invalid command!

Hearing that response, Ren Mori let out a deep sigh.

Clearly, he would have to explore the System’s functions one step at a time.

“Forget it.” He shakily climbed back to his feet.

Although what he had just experienced had made him feel as though he were better off dead, Ren Mori could now clearly sense that his body seemed to have been completely reforged.

Whether it was his offensive power or his defense, both were far stronger than before.

Just as Ren Mori was secretly enjoying the results— A sound suddenly came from outside his door.

Knock, knock, knock…

Knock, knock, knock…

“Who is it?” Ren Mori stared toward the door and called out.

As soon as he finished speaking, a calm voice came from outside.

“It’s me.

Marco.” “Marco?” Ren Mori paused.

Within the Whitebeard Pirates, he had a fairly good relationship with Marco.

Over the years, Marco had also looked after him many times.

So once Ren Mori realized who it was, he did not hesitate.

He immediately walked over and unlocked the door.
