Chapter 11: Atlas, The Warrior

Online Game: I Can Evolve My Summons Endlessly

The arrows travelled towards him at a rapid pace, but his body froze because of fear. His mind went blank; he didn’t seem to know what he should do.

Before a single arrow could come anywhere near Emil, they were instantly carved into tiny wooden fragments.

Splinters rained down around him, pattering softly against the forest floor. Emil’s eyes drifted toward Atlas, who stood silently beside him, his enormous axe resting in his hand.

Judging by the fading trail of its swing, the giant had effortlessly cleaved the entire pack apart with a single strike.

A faint flicker of relief fell upon Emil as he allowed a sigh to pass through his mouth. ’Yeah, I forgot that I had Atlas with me...’ he said inwardly, looking at Atlas.

But then his attention turned towards the group of goblins, which was still rushing towards him at an unusually fast pace.

The one at the front lunged at Emil, but it didn’t know that there was someone strong enough to prevent Emil from taking even the slightest bit of damage.

Atlas moved swiftly. Although he was enormous, his size didn’t hinder his speed. He lifted his axe and swung it in a clean blow, and it cut through the head of the goblin in a single slice.

To Emil, it didn’t feel like someone cutting through a monster but cutting through air because it looked so effortless.

Emil checked his [Avatar] once again because the strength of Atlas was beyond his imagination.

Emil’s eyes widened the moment he read those entries; he knew that Atlas had good potential, but he didn’t know this much information about him. ’He’s strong... absurdly strong.’

Out of nowhere, a grin tugged at Emil’s lips. It wasn’t forced, but it purely came from excitement, which he felt after thinking about Atlas. ’It’ll be easier to complete this dungeon with him.’

Emil’s gaze swept across the surroundings; he counted the number of goblins that were present there. There were around ten of them, excluding the number of archers who were hiding beneath the jungle.

Atlas was craving to hunt the beasts, but he was waiting for Emil’s command to begin. His gaze remained locked on Emil, anticipating him to finally say something.

After Emil was done analyzing the situation, he looked towards Atlas and said, "Kill them all, Atlas." A faint smile tugged the corner of his lips.

Emil had expected Atlas to take care of the enemies, but the giant moved far faster than he had anticipated.

He appeared in front of the horde, beheading the first goblin that came into his sight. The others stopped right away; nervous expressions formed on their faces. Sweat streamed down the faces of several goblins, the sight of two of their own being killed before them filling them with fear.

They had started to lose their morale to fight, but strangely, there was a goblin standing next to them that looked slightly different. Its nose was marked with unusual stripes, while deep wrinkles covered its leathery green skin. A sleeveless, front-open leather cloth clung tightly to its body.

"Nar drok! Ghur makh! Urak-mor thrak! Krush! Krush!"

Emil squinted his eyes as he stood there completely baffled. "What the hell are they talking about?! Does this game carry a vast foundation of language that even monsters have their own?" Emil questioned himself.

But he shook his head twice, telling himself that it wasn’t important for the time being. The only thing he should focus on is completing the quest.

"Atlas, please end this quickly."

"We have to keep moving forward... and also I’m aiming for the ’first’ rank on the leaderboard," Emil said, recalling the incident that happened a while ago with the knight and his party members.

Atlas gave a slight nod before moving once again; he appeared in front of the others. One by one, he started cutting each of them. The blade of his axe was so sharp that it finely diced through their skin tirelessly.

By the sight of this, even Emil could tell that Atlas was enjoying himself. A thought lingered inside his mind. ’Why should he not? He was waiting for who knows how long, sitting in my soul space... and now he finally got his chance to wreak havoc.’

Before Emil could finish his train of thought, Atlas returned. In just a few seconds, he had massacred the entire horde. Green blood splashed across his colossal body, painting his skin alike, while the twin blades of his massive axe were drenched in it. Thick drops slid down the edges before pattering onto the ground.

A faint smile spread across Emil’s face. Watching Atlas single-handedly wipe out the entire pack had been immensely satisfying. Before he could utter a single word, however, a volley of arrows suddenly whistled through the air, hurtling toward them from deep within the forest.

Atlas moved instantly, cutting through the arrows effortlessly. The thin wooden strands fell onto the ground. Atlas’s gaze travelled towards the direction from which these arrows came, making it sure to those goblins that he knew where they were hiding.

While all this took place, Emil was lost in his own thoughts. ’Yeah... I forgot that these archers were still left.’

But another question came to his mind. ’But why didn’t they shoot their arrows to help their own kind fight Atlas?!’ A faint smirk stretched across his face as the answer came inside his mind on its own. ’Because he was fast enough for any of them to take notice of.’
