“But something is strange.”
“What?” Dean asked.
Troy said while pointing at the time written next to the last entry, “If according to this, Miley moved out of the campus after 8 pm. Why did her mother come to report us about her missing at 4 pm the next day?”
Troy closed his eyes for a moment.
“Alright,” he said firmly.
“I’m sending a team to that residence to find Miley.”
He picked up his phone and made a call.
“Send two officers to the missing child case’s house, we had recently.
I want them to do a background check on the family and make sure there’s nothing suspicious.” He took a pause, and then continued, “I want a team to accompany me in five minutes.”
He ended the call and dialed a number at the receptionist.
“Pass my order to Officer Grey, to release Vinyl.”
Dean and Joey looked at each other.
While Yvaine notices a little amount of relief on Dean’s face, as she faces Troy, “Thank you uncle.”
Joey grinned, “Uncle Troy, you’re officially my favorite police officer.”
“You know exactly one police officer in this precinct personally.”
“Still our favorite,” Joey says with a full eyes smile.
Troy hides his smile.
“I’ll inform officer Yor to get her paperwork done fast, and after then, you three along with her head straight to your houses.”
Dean and Joey nodded like a small pup, while Yvaine acted like their owner.
A few minutes later, everything was arranged.
Vinyl was released from custody.
The moment she stepped outside the station, she took a deep breath and looked toward the three of them.
But her gaze was somewhat fixated on Yvaine, just like a thirsty person looking at the oasis in a dry desert area.
“Thank you.”
Dean and Joey exchange glances, as they find a change in Vinyl’s personality.
“You’re welcome,” Joey says while waving a hand slowly to distract her from staring at Yvaine.
But nothing could stop her from staring at Yvaine.
“Uhh… should I drop you home,Vinyl?” Dean scratched the back of his neck.
Vinyl finally looked away, her expression immediately changed.
The strange softness disappeared.
Her face became completely straight.
Without saying anything, she started walking out.
The three of them blinked.
“What was that?!”
“Okay…”
Vinyl stopped directly in front of Dean’s car.
She turned around and faced Dean, “O.”
The three of them stared at her.
Vinyl raised an eyebrow, “P.”
Joey’s mouth slowly opened.
Vinyl looked at Yvaine, “E.”
Yvaine looked equally confused.
Vinyl finished, “N.”
Joey sighed, “…you mean Open?”
Vinyl looked deadly straight at Joey and then at Dean as she pointed at the car, “It.”
Dean unlocked the car.
Vinyl immediately opened the door and sat inside.
Dean, Joey and Yvaine stood outside, staring at each other.
Joey whispered, “Has the lockup messed with her brain?”
Vinyl suddenly leaned slightly and smiled at Yvaine and patted the seat beside her, “Come.”
Yvaine blinked, “Me?”
Vinyl nodded, “Yes. Sit here.”
Dean immediately opened the passenger-side door.
Before anyone could say anything, Dean gently placed a hand on Yvaine’s shoulder and guided her toward the front seat.
He leaned down to fasten her seat belt as he murmured to Yvaine, “You are not sitting at the back.”
He then closed the door on her side, and then turned toward Joey as he tapped his shoulder and walked to the driver’s seat, “Take care of it.”
Joey stared at him, “Wait, what does that mean?”
Dean opened the door, “You figure out at the back with Vinyl.”
Joey looked and sighed, as he sat down at the back seat beside Vinyl who was staring at Yvaine through the gap between the seats.
Dean started the engine.
He adjusted the rear-view mirror before glancing toward Vinyl, “Where do you live?”
Vinyl remained silent.
Dean waited for a few seconds, “…Vinyl.”
Still no response.
Joey leaned slightly forward from the back seat and faced her, “Vinyl, where do you live?”
Still no words came out from her mouth.
Joey sighed dramatically, “Did the lockup make you lesbian? Stop staring at Yvaine like that…”
Dean immediately glanced at him through the mirror, “Joey, stop joking.”
Vinyl finally turned her head towards Joey.
Her expression was completely serious, “If I become a lesbian…” She paused as her eyes slowly moved back toward Yvaine, “Can I get her body?” You are reading on novelping.com, the official source.
A dead end silence followed.
Dean’s hands froze on the steering wheel, while Joey’s mouth fell open.
Yvaine slowly turned toward Vinyl, “Now you are making everything creepy.”
Joey whispered from the back, “I take back everything I said.”
Dean stared straight ahead, “Okay, nobody is answering that question.”
Vinyl simply smiled, “St. Agnes Orphanage.”
But this time, her eyes weren’t on Yvaine, instead they were fixed on the road ahead, as if she already knew exactly where they were going.
Dean looks back from the mirror at Joey, who also was looking at him, as he mouthed words, “Drop her soon!!”
Dean gave the smallest nod.
Suddenly his phone began ringing.
He glanced at the screen, it was Uncle Troy.
He immediately answered, “Hello?”
Troy’s voice came from the other side, “Dean I need you.”
Dean’s eyebrow furrowed, “What happened, Uncle Troy?”
“I’ll tell you everything later, just come to that address.”
The call ended.
He looked toward Vinyl, “Vinyl, can I drop you here? I have to go somewhere.”
Without moving her gaze she asked, “Are you dropping Yvaine and Joey here too?”
Dean hesitated, “Uhm… No.”
“Then let’s not waste any time.”
Dean frowned, “What?!”
“Head straight to Miley.”
The car suddenly went silent.
Vinyl looked toward the road ahead, “At that mansion at Rosewood.”
Joey’s eyes widened, “How do you know that?”
Vinyl slowly turned toward him, and said nothing.
Dean’s eyes met Yvaine’s.
Neither of them understood what had just happened.
Dean mentioned neither Miley nor Rosewood.
Vinyl, how?
Vinyl simply pointed toward the windshield, while looking at Joey, “Eyes on the road, Dean.”
A creepy unsettling smile spread on her lips.
“Otherwise…” She paused.
“… we’ll die first!”
