He Zhihe hadn’t expected things to work out so coincidentally.

After finishing what he needed to do, he had just been about to head back from Fenglin District when Zhu Heqing called.

He initially thought it was something related to work. Instead, that guy asked him to pick up Yu Huan and even sent him the address.Full novel: Oops! The Pretty Spoiled Darling Is the Cannon-Fodder Female Supporting Character — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

He Zhihe checked the location. It was nearby, only a few minutes away by car.

He casually asked, “Yu Huan drove all the way here just to drink coffee?”

Is this coffee shop really that good?

Good enough to make someone come all the way from Jiahe District to Fenglin District just for a cup?

“…”

Zhu Heqing was silent for a moment.

“Her family lives here.”

“Why did she suddenly go home?” He Zhihe was curious. “Did you two have a fight?”

Zhu Heqing: “You should really get insurance for that mouth of yours.”

“Why would I insure my mouth for no reason?”

“So you won’t get beaten up.”

He Zhihe: “…”

“I’m hanging up. I’m going to pick up your little princess.”

When he arrived at the coffee shop, He Zhihe discovered that Yu Huan wasn’t alone. There was another woman sitting with her.

The woman’s face was rather pale. Although she had lipstick on, it couldn’t hide how poor her complexion was. Her brows were subconsciously furrowed.

The moment her eyes met He Zhihe’s, she immediately looked away, even turning her head slightly to the side.

She was clearly a woman who lacked confidence—someone who could even be described as timid and insecure.

She was just barely fast enough to rival the Flying Thunder God.

Yu Huan was very satisfied with He Zhihe’s speed.

She stood up and asked Chen Jiahao, “Are you going home now, or do you want to stay a little longer?”

As the person connecting the two of them, Yu Huan should, in theory, have introduced He Zhihe and Chen Jiahao to each other.

But that thought didn’t even cross her mind.

He Zhihe wasn’t particularly familiar with Yu Huan either, so naturally, he didn’t take the initiative to introduce himself to Chen Jiahao.

Chen Jiahao had watched the man get out of the Mercedes-Benz and could tell immediately that he came from an extraordinary background.

If she accepted a ride home, there was a chance the neighbors would gossip about it. If word reached her mother, she would undoubtedly interrogate her and might even try to force her to take advantage of the connection.

With that thought, Chen Jiahao shook her head and spoke softly.

“No. Xiaohuan, you go home first. I still need to prepare for my interview.”

“Oh.” Yu Huan nodded. “Then prepare well.”

“Let’s go, Brother Zhihe.”

Yu Huan walked straight toward the entrance of the coffee shop and then stopped.

He Zhihe was good at reading situations, and he already had a certain understanding of Yu Huan’s personality.

He knew she was waiting for him to hold the umbrella for her.

He smiled, said goodbye to Chen Jiahao, then opened the umbrella in his hand and held it over Yu Huan’s head, shielding her as she got into the car.

The scent of the air freshener inside the car was strong and rather sweet.

The moment Yu Huan got in, she frowned.

Her eyebrows were beautifully shaped, and with her small, delicate face and youthful features, even the slight downward curve of her lips made her look as if she’d suffered some great injustice.

He Zhihe brushed the raindrops from his shoulders and asked, “What’s wrong? Did you get your shoes dirty?”

Before coming, A-He had asked him whether there were tissues in the car, saying that Yu Huan really liked her shoes and would be unhappy if they got dirty.

He leaned over and grabbed a pack of tissues from the back seat, then handed them to her.

“They shouldn’t be too dirty. I have tissues here. Just wipe them and they’ll be clean.”

Remembering how Yu Huan even called Zhu Heqing whenever she wanted a drink of water, He Zhihe tentatively asked, “Can you wipe them yourself?”

Surely she doesn’t expect me to do it too, right?

She was Zhu Heqing’s girlfriend, not his.

There was no way he could obediently hold her foot in his hands and wipe her shoes for her. That would be inappropriate no matter how he looked at it.

Yu Huan lowered her head and looked at her shoes.

She had only walked a few steps from the coffee shop to the car, but because the rain was so heavy, water had splashed up from the pavement, carrying dust onto the surface of her shoes.

Her brows furrowed even more deeply. Her cheeks puffed up slightly, her disgust obvious.

“They’re so dirty. I don’t want to wipe them.”

He Zhihe: “…”

He had gained a whole new understanding of just how spoiled Yu Huan was.

She really was spoiled.

Unfortunately, she really was ridiculously pretty, too.

He sighed and asked, “Then what do you want to do?”

“You shouldn’t be asking me that.” Yu Huan looked at him with her watery eyes, completely matter-of-fact. “Zhu Heqing always takes care of these things for me. I usually don’t bother with them.”

He Zhihe: “…”

He couldn’t exactly call Zhu Heqing over to the car and have him wipe Yu Huan’s shoes.

Fine.

He surrendered.

He pulled out several tissues and tossed them onto the floor beside Yu Huan’s feet.

“Come on, Your Highness. Move your foot and rub your shoes against the tissues. It should at least get some of the dirt off.”

Yu Huan carefully rubbed her shoes against the tissues, barely managing to make them look presentable.

He Zhihe watched her movements and waited until she was more or less finished before starting the car.

They hadn’t gone far when Yu Huan covered her nose and complained,

“Brother Zhihe, can you turn off the air freshener?”

Her tone was polite enough, as if she were making a reasonable request.

He Zhihe drove with one hand and casually closed the lid of the air freshener with the other. The overly sweet scent immediately faded.

“Where’s your house?”

“That building up ahead.”

He Zhihe clicked his tongue.

It was only a few minutes’ walk from here, yet Zhu Heqing had still sent him to drive her home.

When it came to spoiling his girlfriend, Zhu Heqing was definitely in a league of his own.

After driving into the residential complex, He Zhihe dutifully opened the car door and held the umbrella over Yu Huan as he escorted her back to the entrance of the building.

His G-Class was far too conspicuous.

Several people opened their doors and stood in the hallway to watch.

Seeing that half of He Zhihe’s body was soaked while Yu Huan was completely dry without a single drop of rain on her, their gossiping instincts immediately kicked in.

Someone couldn’t resist asking,

“Xiaohuan, did you get yourself a new boyfriend again?”

“Young people should settle down. Don’t keep changing boyfriends all the time. It’ll make it difficult for you to find a husband later.”

Yu Huan lifted her eyelids.

Her expression looked as though she were staring at something that had completely ruined her mood.

“The older you get, the more nonsense you talk. Say one more word and I’ll have my dad smash your mouth.”

The woman was furious.

“You—!”

“You what?” Yu Huan snorted, the corner of her eye lifting slightly. “Get out of my way. You’re blocking me.”

Such blatant disrespect toward an elder left the woman trembling with rage.

But He Zhihe was standing beside Yu Huan, tall and imposing.

She could only reluctantly move aside and watch Yu Huan walk away without another glance.

He Zhihe returned to the car.

For some reason, he suddenly thought that compared with how she treated everyone else, Yu Huan’s attitude toward him was actually pretty good.

And there was something else.

A-He had gotten one thing wrong.

It wasn’t his mouth that needed insurance.

Clearly, it was the mouth of his family’s little ancestor who needed insurance.

Downstairs, Zhang Ya and Yu Hezhang had naturally noticed the commotion.

However, they hadn’t realized that it had anything to do with Yu Huan, so neither of them went out to investigate.

After hearing their daughter recount what happened with an aggrieved expression, Zhang Ya’s temper immediately flared.

“Those old fools have nothing better to do than gossip about young girls all day!”

She marched into the kitchen and grabbed a rolling pin.

“Old Yu, come on. I want to see whether their mouths are made of iron. Let’s see if they’re not afraid of this rolling pin!”
