Editor: Henyee Translations Vera Warner was pushed down from the third floor of a mall by someone she doesn’t even know, and it was all thanks to Victor Morgan, first heir of Aethelgard’s top family, who rescued her.
And then this guy shamelessly wore the badge of “life-saving benefactor” and insisted that she and her daughter move into the Morgan family home.
All to take care of him!
At first, moving in wasn’t a big deal, but the two kids were always plotting to play cupid, making Vera feel awkward as hell.
Especially Zola, who, from the first day Vera stepped through the door, clung to the mission of making her his mom.
Now these silly words from Zola could only make Vera grit her teeth and reply, “Zola, hurry up and eat, watch out you don’t choke on your food.”
Zola didn’t get her hint at all, so Chloe jumped in as the translator: “Zola, Mom’s praising you.
Keep it up!”
Vera shot a killer glare over, scaring Chloe into obediently bowing her head to eat, muttering under her breath, “So young, yet I carry all the burdens alone.
How hard my life is.”
“…”
Her quiet complaint was still overheard by everyone at the dining table, making Victor Morgan unconsciously glance at her.
He wondered how Vera raised her kid to be so tough.
Vera could only put on a helpless, broad grin and explain, “Misunderstanding, total misunderstanding!”
After dinner, Zola had the guts to drag Vera into a room, and she originally thought it was a room the Morgan family had prepared for her.
But upon seeing this presidential suite-like setup, her eyes truly widened like saucers.
“You guys are way too polite, treating us like VIPs!”
But before Vera could finish sighing, an unfriendly voice came from the doorway: “Your room is across the hall.
And Zola Morgan, are you trying to force me to use family discipline on you?
Do you not know my room is off-limits?
No one is allowed in here.”
Turns out this was Victor Morgan’s room.
No wonder there was a special smell, an annoying one at that!
But Zola was totally justified: “Dad and Mom are supposed to sleep together!
Besides, Dad, both your hands are in casts!
Who’s gonna undress you?
Who’s brushing your teeth later?
Who’s gonna take care of you?”
The second Zola finished, the whole family turned to look at the still-dazed Vera.
Finally, Chloe added, “Congrats, Miss Warner, you’ve won the jackpot!”
Vera turned to glare at the troublemaker, smiling as she said, “Mr.
Morgan, what do you think?
Are you really going to make me serve you the way these two little ones suggest?”
Vera was tempted—if he actually dared nod, she’d take the opportunity to beat the crap out of him.
After all, he couldn’t fight back right now.
Worst case, she’d keep taking care of him later.
As long as she could get her revenge, all was well.
Her worries proved unnecessary, though.
Victor replied frostily, “You’re nowhere near authorized to enter my bedroom at will.
Don’t even think about climbing into my bed.”
Vera clasped her hands in exaggerated respect: “Beautiful answer, Mr.
Morgan!
This is finally something I can respect about you.
Please keep up the cold and proud act so I don’t lose all respect for you.”
Saying that, she turned and quickly dragged Chloe out the door, as if afraid he’d change his mind, scurrying off with the girl in tow.
Zola, who was about to chase after them, got scolded straight away.
“Zola Morgan, don’t push it.
I’ve already got her back here for you—enough is enough.
And besides, that woman isn’t even my type.”
Victor thought Vera was way too hard to control, her behavior and manners crude and nothing like someone from a distinguished family such as his.
What’s more, she was manipulative and lied through her teeth—a woman like that had never even made his consideration list.
But Zola whined indignantly, “But my mom is exactly my type.”
Victor really didn’t know what to think—did his son actually like scheming women?
But seeing Zola much more cheerful lately, he just couldn’t be bothered to argue.
Spending a night at the Morgan house felt like a dream to Vera.
Although she was a bit annoyed at Victor, he had saved her life, so she still felt grateful and owed him a favor.
She was still turning over yesterday’s events in her head.
The phone number was registered under someone else’s identity.
Now she learned the actual owner had just lost their ID, so it had nothing to do with them.
She checked up on the mall, too, but got no leads.
Who on earth wanted to harm her—could it really have been Vera?
As soon as she thought of that, Vera showed up—the devil arrives when you mention him.
The next morning, as they were eating breakfast, Vera came loaded with bags, only to see Vera feeding Victor Morgan breakfast.
And Vera wasn’t seeing things—she was literally feeding him by hand!
Usually, Vera just getting close to him would get her snapped at.
Now this woman was right beside him, feeding him in person?
It was unheard of.
“What are you doing here!”
Victor’s tone was as icy as ever.
If he weren’t worried about his son’s emotional development, he would have banned this woman from entering the Morgan home long ago.
Luna Warner gave a stiff, insincere smile and asked awkwardly, “I’m obviously here for Zola.
But what are she and her daughter doing here?”
Victor replied coldly, “That’s not a question someone with your status should be asking.
Do you really think you have the right to meddle in my business?”
His words trampled Luna right under his feet, and inside, she was about to erupt like a volcano.
Vera saw Luna’s eyes nearly pop out with rage, so she intentionally reached out to wipe Victor’s mouth, doting on him as she said, “Look at you, food all over your mouth.
Just like a little kid.”
Vera even leaned in closer, just to show Luna what she could never get no matter how hard she tried—that Vera could have it with hardly any effort.
But the truth was, Vera couldn’t have cared less!
Luna was about to lose her mind.
Through gritted teeth, she forced herself forward, seeing Victor’s hands still in casts and asking with concern, “I heard you were hurt, so I specially brought some rare herbs.
And since it’ll be inconvenient for you, I plan to move in and take care of you, and keep Zola company too.”
Luna knew she had to act now, or else she’d be handing him over.
Before Victor could react, Zola piped up, “I don’t want you, you bad woman!
Go away!”
Luna had no idea what she’d done to deserve this from the brat.
She’d always treated him pretty well—shouldn’t he like her a little more?
But he just kept calling her a bad woman.
Anyone would think she abused him in private.
She’d originally kept him alive just so she could marry into the Morgan family, but now he was becoming her obstacle.
So this little punk just had to go.
Victor finally couldn’t watch anymore.
“Zola Morgan, she’s still your biological mother.
Show some respect.
What you just said makes it look like you have no manners at all.”
