The parent-teacher meeting began, and all students were cleared from the classroom.
A few boys leaned against the window, peering inside, and couldn’t help but say, “Damn, is that your sister? She’s so pretty.”
Qin Cisui raised his chin proudly. “Of course.”
“Does your sister have a boyfriend?”
Qin Cisui raised a fist. “You looking to die?”
The boy ducked, covering his head. “Sorry, Brother Ci! I was just asking!”
The parent-teacher meeting lasted two hours.
During that time, there were speeches from the teacher, recognition of outstanding students, and addresses from parents of top-performing students—none of which had anything to do with Wen Yunsheng.
Still, she listened attentively, jotting down a few key points in Qin Cisui’s pristine notebook.
After the meeting, parents gradually dispersed. Qin Cisui was already waving excitedly at Wen Yunsheng from the window.
Wen Yunsheng picked up her bag, ready to leave.
As soon as she stood up, she heard the homeroom teacher call out, “Qin Cisui’s sister, please stay.”
Wen Yunsheng looked into the teacher’s serious eyes, and a bad feeling suddenly rose in her heart.
She walked over slowly, her voice softening. “Teacher Li.”
The homeroom teacher said, “Qin Cisui has had some issues at school recently. I think it’s necessary for the family to be aware.”
Wen Yunsheng quickly nodded. “Of course, please go ahead.”
The teacher glanced at Qin Cisui outside the window. “Come in.”
Qin Cisui walked in with a grin. “What’s up, teacher?”
Teacher Li turned back to Wen Yunsheng, speaking sternly, “Some things are hard to say in front of everyone, but they must be addressed. Qin Cisui’s recent behavior at school has been very poor, even somewhat severe.”
Wen Yunsheng’s fingers, twisted together in front of her, tightened. Her cheeks flushed slightly. “I’m sorry for the trouble.”
Qin Cisui knew the old man was about to tattle, but he was like a dead pig unafraid of boiling water.
Seeing his attitude, Teacher Li’s face darkened further.
Wen Yunsheng turned to look at him, frowning slightly.
Qin Cisui obediently lowered his head.
Teacher Li continued his criticism.
“I don’t expect him to pay attention in class—it’s enough if he doesn’t cause trouble.”
“He got into a fight at school and beat someone black and blue. Last time, I made him write a self-criticism, but not even two days later, he skipped class again.”
“Although I know this child will likely study abroad in the future, and his academic performance isn’t the main concern, parents should still pay attention to their child’s character and habits. Otherwise, once he goes abroad, it might be even harder to manage.”
“When a child repeatedly causes trouble and makes mistakes, the parents also bear significant responsibility for their lack of proper guidance.”
Wen Yunsheng had always been a well-behaved student. This was the first time she had ever been scolded so harshly by a teacher. Her cheeks burned, and she couldn’t even lift her head.
“I’m sorry, teacher. I’ll make sure to educate him properly.”
Qin Cisui also apologized. “I’m sorry, teacher. I won’t do it again.”
Teacher Li snorted coldly, clearly not believing a word of Qin Cisui’s nonsense.
He continued sternly to Wen Yunsheng, “Children at this age are in their adolescence, prone to impulsiveness and willfulness. Parents should give them more attention and care.”
Wen Yunsheng nodded earnestly. “Yes.”
“If left unchecked, they might commit minor mistakes today and major ones tomorrow. By then, it will be too late for regrets!”
Wen Yunsheng kept nodding. “Yes.”
When Qin Yanchuan arrived outside the classroom, he saw Wen Yunsheng standing there obediently, enduring the scolding alongside Qin Cisui. His brow twitched. He strode into the classroom, and even Teacher Li paused his lecture upon seeing him enter. This man in a tailored suit with a stern expression, even without knowing his identity, commanded respect and caution.
“Are you…”
Qin Yanchuan’s voice was cool and clear: “I am Qin Cisui’s older brother.”
Wen Yunsheng looked up and froze upon seeing him. Why had he come?
Qin Cisui was so frightened his face paled, stammering, “Brother, you… how did you get here?”
Qin Yanchuan glanced back at him, his calm eyes revealing a sharp edge. Qin Cisui shuddered all over.
Teacher Li finally snapped out of it and quickly greeted him politely: “President Qin, I didn’t expect you to come in person.”
Qin Yanchuan’s tone was even: “Qin Cisui has been immature. It’s my oversight. I will discipline him properly when we return. Thank you for your concern.”
Teacher Li hurriedly replied, “Not at all, not at all. It’s my duty.”
Qin Yanchuan handed him his business card: “If anything comes up with Qin Cisui in the future, please contact me directly.”
Teacher Li quickly took the card, smiling as he said, “President Qin, with your busy schedule, you still take the time to manage your younger brother’s affairs. You are truly thoughtful.”
“Is there anything else you need to discuss?”
“Nothing more. I’ve already spoken with Miss Wen earlier. Miss Wen has also been very responsible.”
Suddenly mentioned, Wen Yunsheng looked up and met Qin Yanchuan’s dark eyes.
Was it her imagination, or did he seem displeased?
Qin Yanchuan shifted his gaze away and looked back at Teacher Li: “Then I’ll take them back now.”
“Of course, of course.”
Qin Yanchuan swept his eyes over the two of them, then turned and walked out.
Wen Yunsheng and Qin Cisui hurriedly followed.
Only after leaving the school did Qin Yanchuan finally stop. Qin Cisui’s heart was in his throat.
Qin Cisui quickly took the initiative to confess: “Brother, I was wrong. I won’t dare do it again.”
Qin Yanchuan’s eyes had already turned cold: “What exactly were you wrong about?”
“I shouldn’t have gotten into a fight, skipped class, or been inattentive in class, making the teacher angry!”
Qin Yanchuan remained silent, his gaze still icy as he looked at him.
Frightened, Qin Cisui hastily added: “And I shouldn’t have hidden it from the family, asking Yun Sheng to help me with the parent-teacher meeting! Brother, I really won’t dare do it again!”
Qin Yanchuan’s voice remained calm: “Starting today, all your cards are frozen. Go back and accept your punishment. You know what to do without me teaching you.”
Qin Cisui’s face turned pale. He had imagined things would be bad if he got caught, but he never expected it to be this bad!
With a pitiful expression, he pleaded: “Brother…”
“Do you need me to escort you?”
Qin Cisui shook his head in fear: “I’ll go myself!”
Then he turned and dashed away.
Qin Yanchuan’s gaze shifted to Wen Yunsheng.
Wen Yunsheng suddenly felt her heart tighten, even more nervous than when facing Teacher Li earlier.
He looked at her tense little face, his voice cool: “Do you not recognize me again today?”
Wen Yunsheng was taken aback for a moment before realizing she hadn’t dared to speak up and naturally hadn’t greeted him.
She whispered, “Brother Yanchuan.”
“Even Qin Cisui is more sensible than you.”
“…”
How long was he going to hold a grudge?
Wen Yunsheng explained earnestly: “Today, I really shouldn’t have hidden it from the family and come to help A-Ci with the parent-teacher meeting. I just thought you were busy with work, and Uncle and Auntie are getting older. I was afraid they’d get upset.”
“So you came here to get upset instead?”
Wen Yunsheng was stunned.
Qin Yanchuan pressed his lips together, looking at her somewhat bewildered eyes, and ultimately said nothing more.”Let’s go home.”
Qin Yanchuan opened the door of the Bentley parked by the roadside, turned back, and saw Wen Yunsheng still standing in place.
Wen Yunsheng hesitated before speaking: “I can…”
“You’re being so obvious about it—are you afraid Dad and Aunt Jin won’t notice?”
Wen Yunsheng stiffened slightly.
Qin Yanchuan’s voice was cool and detached: “Wen Yunsheng, it’s been four years. Are you still unable to let it go?”
