Early the next morning, Rowan didn’t go straight to fishing but instead went to the northwest corner of the village.
A crude building stood there; it was the location of the village’s only Blacksmith shop.
The owner was Uncle Karl, a Blacksmith who also worked as a Farmer.
The village wasn’t large, so the Blacksmith’s work only involved occasionally repairing farm tools or Forging some if materials were available; the rest of the time, he had to farm.
Rowan intended to learn a production profession.
Friends who frequently played games knew that while professions and skills were very important, equipment was equally so.
Since Optimization and Blacksmith were clearly a perfect match, Rowan planned to learn Blacksmith as his production profession.
Perhaps he could learn Alchemist later on as well.
However, one could only hold at most two production professions; having too many would impact combat effectiveness.
He was in luck today; Uncle Karl was home, and at that moment, he was clanging away at a damaged farm tool in front of the Blacksmith shop.
“Uncle Karl,” Rowan greeted.
“Hmm?
You’re the lad that Enri picked up.
What do you need from me?” “Uncle Karl, could you teach me Forging?
I want to become a Blacksmith too.” Rowan said directly.
He had nothing right now, and eighteen copper coins wouldn’t buy anything; otherwise, a gift might have been better.
Uncle Karl looked Rowan over with a scrutinizing gaze.
“Sure, if you want to learn, I can teach you.
But, you must help me work for free during your apprenticeship.
Furthermore, if you manage to learn it, you cannot open a Blacksmith shop in the village.
The village is too small to accommodate two Blacksmiths.” “Haha, no problem.” Rowan was very happy; he hadn’t intended to stay in the village long-term anyway.
Carne Village was nice, but it was too small.
Uncle Karl was a genuinely good person with a straightforward personality.
In this day and age, it wasn’t easy to learn a trade.
Just as Rowan was wondering if he should prepare some sort of apprenticeship gift, the man waved him over.
“Come here.” “Alright.” “Grab a small hammer over there; I’ll teach you the techniques for hammering.” “Ah, we’re starting already?” “What else?
Hurry up.
I have to work the fields outside the village this afternoon; I don’t have time to waste with you.” “Okay.” After all, Rowan had received a higher education.
He wouldn’t brag about other things, but his learning ability was definitely fine.
Plus, having leveled up, his strength was considerable—he was definitely good material for Forging.
Uncle Karl only taught him twice, and Rowan had already mastered the basic techniques.
This kid, he learns so fast!
Uncle Karl muttered to himself.
As the village Blacksmith, Karl didn’t actually possess much knowledge, and with Rowan’s strong learning ability, he learned most of it in just one morning.
He learned almost everything as soon as it was taught, making Uncle Karl doubt his own life.
At noon, Rowan heard a “ding” sound, and text appeared before his eyes.
[Basic knowledge of the basic profession “Blacksmith” has been learned; qualification standards met.] [“Class Evolver” triggered.
The advanced professions derived from the basic profession are: Master Blacksmith, Shadow Blacksmith, Astral Forger.
Please choose one of the advanced professions, or abandon this profession.] [Master Blacksmith: A master proficient in magic and runes, combining magic with Forging to create powerful magical equipment.] [Shadow Forger: A master of Forging specializing in dark abilities such as death and curses, capable of crafting various powerful equipment imbued with negative status effects.] [Astral Forger: Utilizes materials from the starry sky to mine Astral metal and forge various powerful Astral equipment.] Generally speaking, advanced professions require a basic profession as a foundation, and special professions also have various prerequisites.
Because of these restrictions, players in the game could generally only hold one rare profession.
However, Rowan’s innate ability bypassed the prerequisites directly.
The three advanced Blacksmith professions all looked very strong.
Rowan hesitated for a moment and finally chose the first one.
The first one was more versatile, the second one was specialized, and the last one was mysterious.
The starry sky wasn’t something a low-level guy could reach; anyone who chose that profession would probably be stuck in limbo.
[Master Blacksmith prerequisite professions: Blacksmith Lv15, Runesmith Lv15, Mage Lv10!] [“Class Evolver” in effect!
Prerequisite profession requirements exempted.] [Congratulations on becoming a “Master Blacksmith”!] [Obtained passive skill: Craftsman’s Heart] [Obtained active skill: Heart Forging Method] [Craftsman’s Heart: You understand various equipment thoroughly.
By studying equipment, you can learn the Forging methods for them.
The higher your Specialization, the easier it is to forge special equipment.] [Heart Forging Method (Tier 1): Forge with spirit to bestow a “Soul” upon equipment.
This skill can self-evolve during use.] [Description: Every time a Master Blacksmith levels up, Physical Defense, Magic Defense, and HP increase by 15 points each, and other attributes increase by 5 points.] After learning the skills, Rowan felt a strange power surging from within his body, and he felt as though his strength had increased significantly.
He didn’t know if it was just an illusion.
Rowan opened his attribute panel and took a look…
Hmm, alright, it was an illusion, because although his level would increase when mastering a skill, his attributes wouldn’t change.
For all professions, attributes only start increasing from level two.
It was like that for Healer before, and it was the same for Master Blacksmith as an advanced profession.
Rare professions came with three skills upon job acceptance, whereas advanced professions only had two.
Furthermore, rare professions added twenty to all attributes per level, while advanced professions only added fifteen to three attributes and five to the others—they were quite a bit weaker.
The only advantage was that advanced professions could be leveled up to ten.
The gap between rare professions and advanced professions was so large, and the gap between advanced professions and basic professions was equally huge.
One could imagine how pitiful the attributes of basic professions must be.
The three main attributes for Master Blacksmith were all defense; it really didn’t add any attack attributes at all—it was purely a tank.
After the job change, Rowan’s attributes became: [Attribute Table] [Level: 3] [Profession: Healer (Rare Lv2), Master Blacksmith (Advanced Lv1)] [Innate Ability: Class Evolver] [Justice Value: 0 (Neutral)] [HP: 25 (2.5%)] [MP: 25 (2.5%)] [Physical Attack: 25 (2.5%)] [Physical Defense: 25 (2.5%)] [Agility: 25 (2.5%)] [Magic Attack: 25 (2.5%)] [Magic Defense: 25 (2.5%)] [Overall Resistance: 15 (1.5%)] [Specialization: 0 (0%)] [Skill Points: 3] [Experience Bar: 12 / 200] [Passive Skills: Heal Storage (0 / 100), Limit Break, Craftsman’s Heart] [Active Skills: Optimization (3 times/day), Degradation (3 times/day), Heart Forging Method (Tier 1)] Looking at the attributes, other than adding a few skills, nothing else had changed.
Specialization could not be obtained through normal means; besides reaching max level with an obtained profession, it could only be acquired through special methods.
