2 – Using a 100,000 Yuan Handkerchief to Wipe Smelly Eggs

Wen Man looked up at the man, her expression momentarily dazed.

The man before her stood tall and robust, roughly 190 centimeters in height, exuding a cold and aloof aura that seemed to warn others to keep their distance. Yet his features were strikingly handsome in a rugged way.Full novel: Pampered and Gentle — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Even Wen Man, who was accustomed to seeing beautiful men and women in the entertainment industry, froze for an instant.

Wen Yanchuan paused, noticing the panic in Wen Man’s bright, watery almond-shaped eyes. He softened his tone and repeated his question.

“Miss, do you need help?”

Wen Man snapped back to reality, taking in her disheveled appearance. A wave of shame washed over her, flushing her from head to toe.

There was nothing more embarrassing than being caught in an embarrassing situation!

Wen Man lowered her head, biting her lip lightly, and shook her head slightly, declining the man’s offer. “No, thank you.”

Silence hung in the air for a moment.

Wen Man’s heart continued to pound. She thought the man would leave after her refusal.

But he remained standing beside her, unmoving.

In truth, Wen Yanchuan was observing the woman before him.

She sat slumped on the ground, her legs long and fair, her figure well-proportioned, and her face delicate and exquisite. Her eyes, in particular, were captivating, and her red lips were alluring.

Wen Yanchuan found her familiar but couldn’t recall where he had seen her before.

“You seem to need it.”

Wen Yanchuan’s calm voice struck a chord in Wen Man’s heart.

She prided herself on not being fragile, but for some reason, an inexplicable sense of grievance welled up inside her, as though her carefully constructed facade had been stripped away. Her eyes glistened with unshed tears.

But Wen Man clenched her lips, forcing herself not to cry.

She had never liked crying in front of strangers.

Noticing the redness around Wen Man’s eyes, Wen Yanchuan took a handkerchief from his coat pocket, bent slightly, and offered it to her.

Wen Man looked up at the handkerchief—black, embroidered with golden threads in a pattern resembling some kind of flower, though she couldn’t quite make it out.

It carried the pleasant scent of cedar.

Wen Man pursed her lips, accepted the handkerchief, and murmured softly, “Thank you.”

She unfolded it and began meticulously wiping the egg liquid from her hair. The sticky substance was particularly disgusting, and for the first time, Wen Man found herself hating eggs.

Watching her actions, Wen Yanchuan’s brows furrowed almost imperceptibly before he spoke up to remind her.

“It’s for wiping your tears.”

In other words, not for wiping eggs.

Wen Man froze, her pupils widening slightly, her eyes filled with confusion.

Then it dawned on her. She quickly lowered her head to look at the handkerchief, now stained with egg liquid. On one corner of the unfolded fabric, the logo of a high-end brand was embroidered.

Wen Man recognized the brand—a single handkerchief cost nearly a hundred thousand.

A wave of awkwardness washed over her again.

Heavens, she had just used a hundred-thousand-yuan handkerchief to wipe stinky egg from her hair.

The atmosphere grew increasingly awkward. Wen Man lowered her head, her voice dropping slightly. “I’m sorry, I wasn’t paying attention. I’ll compensate you for the handkerchief.”

As soon as Wen Man finished speaking, the man’s steady, calm voice came from above her once more.

“Can you still walk?”

Wen Man was taken aback and glanced at her ankle. The bone area was red and swollen—it seemed she had sprained it.

She stirred slightly, and pain shot through her. Wen Man furrowed her brows, her delicate face tightly scrunched up. Though clearly angry, there was also a hint of coquettishness in her expression.

Wen Yanchuan’s fingers twitched slightly.

A moment later, he half-knelt down, looking into Wen Man’s slightly moist eyes, his voice calm. “My upbringing does not allow me to act presumptuously or rudely, so I’d like to ask you—do you need me to carry you?”

Wen Man stared into Wen Yanchuan’s eyes, momentarily dazed.

At this moment, she was looking directly at him, close enough to see the faint, barely noticeable tear mole beneath his eye.

As if bewitched, Wen Man nodded slightly, her red lips parting. “Please.”

Before Wen Man could react, Wen Yanchuan’s arm had already slipped beneath her knees, his other hand supporting her back, only his wrist lightly touching her.

The next second, Wen Man was lifted into the air, enveloped in the scent of cedar, and settled into Wen Yanchuan’s embrace.

A gentle breeze rustled through the phoenix trees, and golden rain began to fall from the sky. Nestled in Wen Yanchuan’s arms, Wen Man watched as leaves drifted down from the trees and landed in his embrace.

She picked up a phoenix leaf and gently rubbed it between her fingers, rainwater clinging to her skin.

Sheltered by the leaves, Wen Man secretly studied Wen Yanchuan, lingering especially on the faint tear mole beneath his eye.

“Where to?” Wen Yanchuan asked.

Wen Man snapped back to reality, glanced around, and pointed in a direction. “My van is over there.”

Wen Yanchuan said nothing and began to walk.

Wen Man quickly grabbed his arm, stopping him. “There are reporters over there… Please put me down.”

Wen Yanchuan looked at Wen Man. She seemed very resistant to being photographed by reporters. Without asking further, he set her down and asked in a low voice, “Can you walk?”

Not really.

Wen Man thought to herself.

But if she were photographed now in an intimate pose with a stranger, Chen Yue would probably be furious enough to put her on ice.

Even after regaining her senses, Wen Man couldn’t understand why she had allowed physical contact with someone she had just met.

She had always been most resistant to any physical contact with unfamiliar people.

Yet just now, she hadn’t felt any aversion.

Wen Yanchuan took off his overcoat and draped it over Wen Man’s head. The coat was long, reaching down to her ankles, wrapping her up completely.

Wen Man looked at Wen Yanchuan, a hint of confusion in her eyes.

“Aren’t you afraid of being photographed?” Wen Yanchuan said.

Before Wen Man could respond, Wen Yanchuan supported her as they walked toward the van.

Under the coat, Wen Man’s long eyelashes trembled, and an indescribable feeling stirred within her.

Inside the van.

The assistant opened the door, offering a hand to help Wen Man inside. “What happened?”

When she caught sight of Wen Yanchuan behind Wen Man, the assistant’s throat tightened, and she was momentarily speechless.

Wen Yanchuan turned to leave, but Wen Man quickly called out, “Sir!”

He turned back, his expression calm.

“Your coat,” Wen Man said.

Wen Yanchuan looked at the overcoat in Wen Man’s hands. The inner layer was stained with egg residue, which had dried into a thin, shiny film under the light.

After a long pause, Wen Yanchuan finally spoke in a low voice.

“Throw it away.”
