He Yuan also didn’t want to hate, but the Fang family was too overbearing and bullying.

Fu Sheng’s appearance was unexpected but also an opportunity, and He Yuan seized that chance.

In the fourth year of their marriage, He Yuan developed glandular lesions due to excessive injection of pseudo pheromones and had to undergo corrective surgery. Coincidentally, on that day, a group of researchers from the research institute who were developing pheromone inhibitors were visiting the hospital for an exchange program, and one of the researchers was assigned to He Yuan’s case.

His name was Ji Baishu.

He had a completely different face from Ji Chang’s, but He Yuan felt an unusual sense of familiarity.

He Yuan quickly recognized Ji Baishu, but Ji Baishu didn’t recognize him.

Due to the immense shock and the fear of impending death, Ji Baishu activated a self-protection mechanism and lost his memory.

It turned out that on the day Ji Chang had the incident, a group of researchers from the research institute also visited the hospital for an exchange program. Academician Wang was Ji Chang’s mentor and had high expectations for him. Unfortunately, Ji Chang couldn’t continue with the group due to his pregnancy.

On the day of the incident, seeing a student he once cherished now on the brink of death and unable to contact the student’s alpha, Academician Wang was both shocked and filled with compassion. He knew that Ji Chang’s burns were not ordinary, so he decided to transfer him to the research institute and falsify his death certificate to protect him under his wing.

With Ji Chang’s body severely burned, he had to undergo skin and face transplantation. Upon waking up, he had lost his memory. Academician Wang marvelled at the twist of fate and took it upon himself to rename him Ji Baishu, starting a new life.

If it weren’t for Fang Ji, his life wouldn’t have turned out like this.

Academician Wang’s arrangement was simply guiding Ji Chang back on the right path.

He Yuan didn’t know what happened during the years when Ji Baishu had amnesia, but he knew that it was Wang Yuanyao who accompanied Ji Baishu through surgery and rehabilitation. Moreover, Wang Yuanyao had an accident during a mission, resulting in the destruction of his glands and the inability to sense O pheromones. He wouldn’t betray Ji Baishu for an omega.

Ji Baishu felt a sense of familiarity when he saw He Yuan and said it felt like they had known each other for a long time. He asked if they could be friends, and He Yuan smiled and agreed.

Just because Ji Baishu had completely forgotten didn’t mean that He Yuan could forget what the Fang family had done. He couldn’t forgive or give up.

He had accessed the hospital’s surveillance, but he could only find the footage of Ji Baishu being brought into the hospital—blackened all over, with burnt and torn skin, unable to even scream in pain. Doctors and nurses came and went, constantly changing the blood-soaked bandages. The whole process was akin to torture, and he had to endure it multiple times a day.

In He Yuan’s dreams, Ji Baishu was always the burned figure, crying and saying that he regretted it. You are reading on g.com, the official source.

So how could He Yuan give up on revenge?

Ji Chang was dead, and Ji Baishu was alive. He Yuan sought revenge for the deceased Ji Chang.

As for Fu Sheng, Fu Sheng…

He Yuan supported his forehead, his gaze fixed on the tabletop, his eyes absent.

“Ha~~~ Uncle, I’m sleepy.”

He Yuan snapped back to reality and smiled, “Go to sleep first.”

“Okay.” The child in the video nodded and obediently climbed into bed to sleep. He Yuan watched for a while before ending the video call.

In recent days, He Yuan had only communicated with Ji Baishu through the child. Although he understood that Fu Sheng didn’t know Ji Baishu was Ji Chang, just to be safe, He Yuan never directly contacted Ji Baishu, fearing that the signal would be monitored by Fu Sheng.

He Yuan stood up and stretched, yawning lazily while facing the blue lake outside the window. He squinted his eyes and tilted his face, enjoying the gentle breeze brushing against his cheeks, accompanied by the refreshing scent of flowers. His mood was relaxed.

He hugged his arms, and the landlady downstairs called out to him, “Little handsome, there’s a market fair today, right by the lake. Do you want to go and join in the fun?”

The town held a market fair every five days, which was set up in the square by the lake. On that day, people from the entire town would come to the square to set up stalls, selling fruits, vegetables, poultry and fish, as well as various handicrafts. It was bustling and one of the tourist attractions of the day.

He Yuan initially wanted to decline, but upon second thought, since he had been here for several days without going out, he might as well take a walk now.

He shouted downstairs, “Thank you.”

Having said that, He Yuan put on his coat and walked out. At the market, he ran into the daughter of the landlady. She was a cute little omega who had had a fight with her boyfriend and came over, looking pitifully at He Yuan, asking him for a favour.

He Yuan reluctantly agreed and let the girl hold his arm while pretending to ignore her boyfriend. The boyfriend did indeed feel jealous and rushed over, wanting to fight, but He Yuan effortlessly brought him down to the ground.

The little omega’s boyfriend was dumbfounded, while the little omega stuck her tongue out in satisfaction. She was no longer angry at the moment and helped her boyfriend up, bidding farewell to He Yuan as they left, teasing each other along the way.

He Yuan helplessly laughed and rubbed his cheek, not understanding the younger generation nowadays.

He continued to stroll through the market and bought a little of the interesting handicrafts or tasty local food. Soon, his hands were full, so he decided to just look around without buying anything else. When it was almost dark, He Yuan returned to the inn. As he walked on the road, his communication device suddenly lit up.

He Yuan answered the call, and to his surprise, it was Wang Yuanyao.

Wang Yuanyao’s tone was serious. “He Yuan, Fu Sheng has already left the capital. I don’t know where he is now, but the Information Department is investigating my side. I suspect he might know where you are.”

He Yuan replied, “I understand, thank you.”

He hung up the call and immediately threw away the electronic identification card inside. He hurriedly walked back to the inn to get his ID card and prepare to leave quickly. He couldn’t use any communication devices and could only rely on the most basic form of identification, which he had left in the room.

He Yuan lowered his head and calculated the time it would take to reach the town from the capital. The flight would take three hours, then another two hours by car from the destination city to the town. Fu Sheng probably couldn’t pinpoint his exact address.

He Yuan’s heart raced nervously. When he arrived at the inn, he suddenly stopped in his tracks, staring at the inn as if he was facing a formidable beast. The inn looked the same as usual, amidst the lively atmosphere, there was a unique tranquillity belonging to the small town.

Guests freely came and went, and familiar faces greeted He Yuan.

He nodded and responded, gradually relaxing his tense nerves. It seemed that Fu Sheng hadn’t found this place yet.

He Yuan quickly pushed the door open and headed straight to where his luggage was. He haphazardly threw his clothes inside and then opened the cabinet and felt inside. Empty? His ID card and all his documents were supposed to be in there. How could it be empty?

He Yuan couldn’t possibly be mistaken. He had placed them in this cabinet.

If they couldn’t be found now, it meant someone had stolen them.

He Yuan furrowed his brow, subconsciously unwilling to entertain that possibility. He turned around, intending to find the landlady, but then he heard a voice behind him, “Are you looking for this?”

He Yuan’s body went stiff, his jaw clenched, and his temples throbbed as if he could hear the pounding of his heart. His mind went blank, unable to think much. His body moved first, taking three steps back and rushing towards the direction of the front door. However, in the next moment, everything spun, and someone came from behind, embracing him, locking his hands and feet, and pressing him against the wall with a thud.

Although Fu Sheng had used his hand to protect He Yuan’s head, the violent impact still caused He Yuan pain.
