Xu Wei had originally wanted to shove Ning Ran straight into the zombie horde. She never expected that by a bizarre twist of fate, it actually led to the girl learning how to hack away at zombies instead. Hiding behind her teammates, she was so furious she was rendered speechless.

Seeing this, Pei Huaiye hurriedly pulled Ning Ran back to his side: “Who told you to step out?”

His expression was somewhat stern, scaring Ning Ran into shrinking back timidly: “She gave it to me.”Full novel: Picking Up a Little Fool in the Apocalypse, the Villainous Big Shot Spoils Her Rotten — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

She was referring to Xu Wei.

While fighting off the zombies, Pei Huaiye took a moment to glance back at Xu Wei standing in the safe zone, his expression far from pleasant.

“Boss, this isn’t fun—there are way too many zombies!” After blasting a wave, Han Chao hollered at Pei Huaiye.

“Then retreat inside the medical supply warehouse.”

The few zombies outside the warehouse had already been cleared out, and the group backed into the warehouse step by step.

Ji Hengyuan and the others pulled open the warehouse’s heavy main door, allowing everyone to enter smoothly before shutting the zombies out.

The snarling roars outside were terrifying to hear.

“Is anyone injured?” Pei Huaiye pulled flashlights from his spatial storage, handing out one for every two people.

“No!”

“No!”

No joke—getting injured right now meant either being scratched or bitten by a zombie, both carrying the possibility of turning into a corpse.

Nobody dared to gamble with their own life.

Inside the medical supply warehouse, it was pitch-black and chillingly cool.

Storing medicine inherently required a dry, cool, and dark environment, and the warehouse had been constructed specifically for that purpose.

Pei Huaiye illuminated the path ahead with his flashlight, observing that the warehouse was divided into many sections, with various types of medicine stored under different conditions.

“Xu Wei, you’re a doctor. Go over and inspect these medicines.” There were far too many types of medication; a group of laymen like them had to rely on Xu Wei, who understood pharmacology, to differentiate them.

Xu Wei didn’t play coy either, stepping forward to open a medicine storage cabinet and taking out a bottle to examine closely.

“Huaiye-ge, these are all commonly used medicines; I suggest taking them all,” Xu Wei put the medicine back into the cabinet and spoke thoughtfully.

“Han Chao, once you confirm it’s safe, start moving the medicine out,” Pei Huaiye said as he set to work storing the medicines from the cabinets into his space.

Xu Wei checked back and forth. Suddenly, her eyes seemed to catch onto something, and taking advantage of the dark, she quietly slipped a small vial of medicine into her pocket—a move that went completely unnoticed by the busy crowd.

The warehouse was by no means small, and it took the group a good half-day to gather all the medical supplies.

Exhausted, Xu Sui plopped straight down onto the floor: “We’re truly surrounded like dumplings now. Those zombies outside definitely haven’t scattered yet.”

“Split up and check if there’s a small side door for entry and exit.” Normally, large medical supply warehouses like this wouldn’t have just a single entrance.

“All right, no big deal.” Han Chao called out to Ji Hengyuan, and the others paired up, scattering to inspect the walls for other exits.

Ning Ran sat on the floor, happily munching away on a piece of bread held in her hand.

When Pei Huaiye turned his head back, his eyes carried surprise: “Where did you get that bread from?”

He remembered he hadn’t given her anything to eat.

Ning Ran reached out her hand, and like magic, produced another piece to hand to him: “I’m a fairy, I can do magic tricks.”

It just so happened that Han Chao returned to witness this exact scene, his jaw dropping in shock: “Boss, she couldn’t possibly have a Space superpower like you, could she?”

If that were truly the case, there would be two Space ability users in their team—something you’d never see anywhere else.

“You say you can do magic tricks?” Pei Huaiye walked over: “Try making something disappear?”

Ning Ran looked at him suspiciously, thinking to herself how silly this guy was for refusing food. With a slight flick of her little brain, the bread in her hand vanished in an instant.

Watching this scene from afar, Xu Wei felt another wave of sour jealousy bubbling up.

“I didn’t expect the little idiot to have a Space superpower too.” In the entire team, she was the only one without a superpower, left with nothing but her medical skills.

“Stop calling her ‘little idiot’ with every breath. The Boss can call her that, but can you?” Han Chao shot a glance at Xu Wei: “She has a proper name—it’s Ning Ran.”

Lin Yao chimed in close behind: “Her name really is Ning Ran. She used to be a top student and was really pretty too.”

A single sentence successfully offended Xu Wei.

Pei Huaiye paid no mind to the people beside them, merely staring intently at Ning Ran who was munching on her bread, asking: “Can you produce lots and lots of good things?”

He wanted to know just how much stuff Ning Ran had stored in her space.

Who would have thought Ning Ran completely ignored him, terrified he was going to snatch her food.

Suddenly, Xiao Jinyang’s voice sounded not far away: “Boss, there’s a secret door here, we should be able to get out!”

Everyone standing rushed over in a flurry. As the flashlights illuminated the spot, a small iron door just wide enough for two people to pass through appeared next to Xiao Jinyang—it was painted the exact same color as the wall, making it nearly invisible unless looked at closely.

It had a hidden lock on top in the same color scheme.

Wu Ci said: “I have great strength, let me force it open.”

Saying that, he grabbed the door with his hands, exerting all the strength in his body.

Just when everyone thought the door wouldn’t budge, with a loud crack, a gust of outside air surged in.

The secret door faced the boiler room, where the entire hospital’s hot water equipment was located. Adjacent to the boiler room were the hospital cafeteria and a corner of the nursing home.

The group stepped out of the medical supply warehouse one after another, falling silent as they surveyed the scene outside.

A metal fence separated the nursing home from the boiler room and cafeteria. Over on that side, elderly zombies were wandering about mindlessly.

Inside the boiler room itself, a zombie wearing a work uniform was also wandering around.

The moment the zombie spotted them, it charged over, only to be strangled to death by Pei Huaiye’s Wood superpower.

“Do we want to take a look at the cafeteria warehouse?” Xu Sui asked. In his mind, a cafeteria meant food, and food meant grain.

In the apocalypse, not a single grain of food could be wasted.

“Wild-ge, let’s go check it out. We’ve got nothing better to do anyway,” Han Chao was eager to try.

After brief consideration, Pei Huaiye lifted his feet and followed around toward the back of the cafeteria.

The front was the dining area—naturally packed with zombies—while the back would at most have staff members.

Sure enough, just as they thought, the rear storage area only had a few staff zombies. The moment they lunged forward upon seeing the group, they were wiped clean in an instant.

With Pei Huaiye leading and Han Chao bringing up the rear, the team entered the storage area smoothly.

The vegetables inside were mostly rotten, with only a few durable items barely looking presentable.

Wilted as they were, eating them wouldn’t pose any problem.

“Ning Ran, can you make these things disappear?” He pointed at the rice, flour, grain, and oil inside.

Ning Ran looked at him, then at the supplies, her little brain thinking and pondering. In a flash, a heap of rice, flour, grain, and oil vanished on the spot.

“It seems she really does have a Space superpower.” This time, Pei Huaiye was exceptionally certain.

After collecting the warehouse supplies, the group backtracked along their original route. As they circled back toward the front of the medical supply warehouse, sure enough, zombies were still lingering by the entrance.

Not daring to make loud noises, they tiptoed quietly outward.

Suddenly, the blare of a car horn sounded, startling the wandering zombies into sprinting toward the source of the noise.

Raising their heads, the group saw a small squad appearing out of nowhere, equipped with advanced weapons and launching a total slaughter against the charging zombies.

Pei Huaiye and his team didn’t rush out recklessly, instead shrinking back into the shadows to watch the other party engage in a fierce firefight with the zombies.

“Boss, this group is pretty wild!” Han Chao walked quietly up to Pei Huaiye: “Relying on their advanced weapons, they don’t take zombies seriously at all.”

“They have the capital for it. See that? State-of-the-art thermal weaponry, and the vehicle is modified too. They might very well be here specifically to exterminate zombies,” Xu Sui observed for a moment, speaking in a low voice.
