Ning Ran seemed to be drawn by the commotion outside, clinging to the car window as she peeked out curiously.

When she saw the ghastly faces of the zombies, she knitted her brows.

“Scared?” Pei Huaiye turned his head to look at her.Full novel: Picking Up a Little Fool in the Apocalypse, the Villainous Big Shot Spoils Her Rotten — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Brother, those people are so ugly!” That was Ning Ran’s evaluation of “those people.”

“Does the little idiot have such high standards?” Xu Sui clicked his tongue.

Just then, someone among the survivors spotted their car. As if grasping at a lifesaver, they frantically waved for help while fending off the zombies’ assault: “Help! Help us, and we’ll give you all our supplies!”

Han Chao turned to Pei Huaiye: “Boss, do we save them?”

Pei Huaiye stared at the group expressionlessly. Under the zombies’ siege, they were in utter disarray, while his cold eyes looked as though he were watching an irrelevant show.

“Brother,” Ning Ran suddenly tugged at his clothes and spoke up: “They… are screaming so pitifully.”

Pei Huaiye looked into those clear eyes of hers, which held nothing but pure ignorance.

He remained silent for a moment, then spoke up right as those people were on the verge of breaking: “Han Chao, honk the horn.”

Without hesitation, Han Chao slammed his palm onto the horn, and a piercing sound instantly echoed down the street.

Drawn by the noise, the zombies turned around one after another, stumbling toward the source of the sound.

“Chao-ge, blow them up!” Looking at the approaching zombies, Xu Sui showed no fear in his eyes, only a trace of excitement; the more that came, the happier he felt.

“Look at that pathetic expression of yours. You can’t even blow zombies to death, so I don’t know what you’re so excited about.” Han Chao stepped out of the car, his leather boots stepping onto the gravel and rubble, entirely fearless.

“Chao-ge, how about we give them a double dose of ice and fire?” Xu Sui channeled his Ice superpower, swinging his hand to launch ice icicles straight at the zombies’ heads.

Pfft! Pfft!

The zombies running at the front couldn’t escape the fate of having their heads pierced through.

Seizing the opportunity, Han Chao unleashed his Lightning superpower. Bolt after bolt of lightning struck the zombies, instantly turning them into roasted meat.

“Smells both savory and foul… Chao-ge, you’re really disgusting…” Xu Sui caught a whiff of the stench and threw up with a bleaggh.

Because Han Chao didn’t use his full strength, the zombies ended up charred on the outside and tender on the inside—still struggling forward even after losing arms and legs.

“I beg you, Chao-ge, hurry up and clean up the scene! I really can’t take it anymore!” Xu Sui said as he scrambled back into the car, slamming the window shut.

“Brother, stinky!” Ning Ran wrinkled her nose and buried her face headfirst into Pei Huaiye’s chest, attempting to block out the odor from outside.

Pei Huaiye couldn’t stand the smell either, but he handled it much better than Xu Sui. He shouted through the car window: “Han Chao!”

Han Chao immediately understood what was going on, cranked up his ability, and blasted the zombies until not even dregs were left.

Not far away, the few individuals who narrowly survived were throwing up uncontrollably, making their already wretched appearance look even worse.

“Be quicker next time!” As Han Chao sat back into the car, the stench became even more pronounced.

“Got it. I just wanted to test things out today, I’ll know better next time.” In truth, Han Chao himself had been choked by the smell quite badly.

Pei Huaiye frowned and pressed down the window button. A faint green energy orb appeared in the palm of his hand, spreading throughout the interior of the car in an instant, causing the burnt odor inside to vanish. Even the smell outside lessened significantly.

“Boss, is this a Wood superpower evolution?” Han Chao’s eyes widened. He had always known the Boss’s Wood superpower was incredible—not only could it kill zombies, but it could also heal and evolve—and today truly opened his eyes.

“Brother knows magic!” Ning Ran raised her face, her eyes sparkling.

“It’s not magic, it’s a superpower. Little idiot, do you know what a superpower is?” Pei Huaiye was getting quite addicted to pinching Ning Ran’s cheek; it was soft and squishy, feeling quite nice to the touch.

“Superpower? What is a superpower? Is it edible?” Foodie little idiot online.

“Forget it, what am I discussing with an idiot like you?” Pei Huaiye withdrew his hand, turning his head to see the group of survivors supporting each other as they walked over, their faces still carrying the panic of surviving a catastrophe.

“Thank you for stepping in to save us, otherwise…” The tall man expressed his thanks to the person inside the car window: “My name is Ji Hengyuan. May I ask what our benefactor’s name is?”

“Han Chao.”

“Xu Sui.”

“This is my Boss, Pei Huaiye…” Xu Sui gave an introduction, omitting only the little idiot’s name, because he didn’t know what she was called either.

Ning Ran was looking down playing with Pei Huaiye’s buttons, completely uninterested in the conversation outside the window. When happy, she even hummed an out-of-tune nursery rhyme under her breath.

The woman in the team outside the car window kept staring directly at Ning Ran, speaking up slowly after a long pause: “Ning Ran? You’re Ning Ran, right?”

Ning Ran paid no mind to the woman’s voice, continuing to play with the buttons on Pei Huaiye’s top.

“You say her name is… Ning Ran?” Pei Huaiye looked straight at the woman. He had only picked the little idiot up two days ago; how was it such a coincidence that Shen Shuhe’s lackey recognized her?

Could there be something shady going on?

“My name is Lin Yao, daughter of Lin Jiadong from the Ancheng Lin Group. Ning Ran was my high school classmate.” The woman spoke rapidly and frantically, terrified that Pei Huaiye wouldn’t believe her: “If you don’t believe me, you can ask her.”

“Ask? How to ask? Ask an idiot what her name is?” Pei Huaiye sneered.

Toward these accomplices who had indirectly caused his death in his past life, Pei Huaiye had no intention of being pleasant or mild-mannered.

“What? An idiot?” Lin Yao’s voice turned sharp: “Ning Ran is pretty and gets good grades, how could she possibly be an idiot?” She clearly didn’t believe it.

“Little idiot, do you recognize the person outside?” As Pei Huaiye’s voice fell, Ning Ran raised her bewildered head and looked out the car window. Her gaze held complete strangeness, seemingly having no impression of the person before her.

“Ning Ran, Ning Ran, I’m Lin Yao…” The woman was so anxious she wanted to pull open the car door. As long as Ning Ran recognized her, she could follow these powerful people and never have to venture out in fear searching for supplies again.

Look at Ning Ran, an idiot wearing clean and neat clothes; how could she, a normal person, not compare to her?

“Brother, sleepy!” Ning Ran didn’t answer her words, burying her head in Pei Huaiye’s arms to go to sleep.

“If you’re sleepy, then sleep. Nobody’s forcing you!” Pei Huaiye rubbed her head, then said to the group outside: “Please step aside, we’re leaving.”

They were just passing by; there was no point wasting time lingering here.

“Um… can we follow you? Don’t worry, we definitely won’t cause any trouble for you.” Ji Hengyuan could tell as well—if both subordinates under this person were so strong, then the man himself must be terrifyingly powerful.

“Suit yourselves!” Pei Huaiye had no desire to take them in, but at the thought of intercepting Zhou Xu and Shen Shuhe’s partners from his past life, he felt in an exceptionally good mood.

Seeing that the other party didn’t object to them following, Ji Hengyuan hurriedly scrambled into his own car, started the engine, and followed the vehicle ahead.

“Boss, didn’t you hate meddling in other people’s business? Why are you bothering with these people?” Han Chao was somewhat puzzled.

“They were Zhou Xu’s partners in my past life.” One sentence explained everything.

Han Chao’s eyes instantly widened: “My goodness, did we just snatch our enemy’s partners?”
