Xing Yun tossed the small ball in her hand. Could this be Schrödinger’s curse?

She made the small ball dance across the back of her hand. “I understand now. The curse does not trigger when you cannot see it; it has a probability of triggering once you lay eyes on it.”

Because of the undying power in this place, Quan Tianjiao’s head was slowly regenerating. His body twitched from time to time, and once his mouth and vocal cords recovered, the shrill, wretched screams he let out were enough to make one’s skin crawl. God furrowed His brows, and soon, Quan Tianjiao was deprived of his vocal cords again, unable to make a sound.Full novel: Players, Please Begin Your Performance — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Such repetitive punishment was nothing short of torture. By the time Quan Tianjiao fully recovered, his gaze was completely dull, and drool dripped from the corners of his mouth.

God stood on the spiral staircase, the space above having closed. He saw the bead in Xing Yun’s hand and asked in a low voice, “Why are you holding that?”

Judging by God’s tone, He certainly was not being kind. Xing Yun examined the bead in her hand carefully, wondering what would happen if she threw it at God. Would it count as defying Him?

What if she pretended to offer it to God, then accidentally slipped and threw it into His clothes?

The God on high had a dark expression because, in His eyes, Xing Yun was grinning so sleazily that it was as if she had written her thoughts on her forehead; it was hard to miss.

God took a few deep breaths, maintaining His dignified and beautiful appearance.

Honghong clutched her head, but she dared to slowly raise her eyes to look at Xing Yun. She completely failed to understand how anyone could pick up a cursed bead. She thought that if only mind-reading could reveal a person’s abilities, she would not have dared to pull down Xing Yun, who was merely playing the pig to eat the tiger.

Yet, she did not have the slightest suspicion toward God. The brief doubt she had flashed in her mind existed only toward Xing Yun—how could such a powerful figure be pulled down so easily by her?

“You are so strong…” Honghong suddenly began to lament. Xing Yun had a face full of question marks.

If Xing Yun knew, she would probably be spitting blood. Honghong did not understand how strong Xing Yun was; even with her current enhancements, Xing Yun had absolutely no power to fight back against someone like Honghong.

Xing Yun looked at God, raising her hand to toy with the bead between her fingers. “Does this thing really have the power of a curse?”

God looked at her slightly curled black hair and glass-like pupils. For a moment, His heart raced—He was completely furious. “Of course!” He answered firmly and powerfully; anyone who heard Him would subconsciously believe it was true.

He held His head high, like a king looking down upon the world, and said coldly, “Return the bead to Me; do not play with it. Only I can keep it safe so it will not hurt others.”

God spoke with such certainty as if the bead really carried some kind of curse.

Xing Yun shoved the bead into her pocket—the pocket on the chest of her pajamas, the place closest to her heart. She offered a provocative smile, looking completely unfazed.

The reason was simple: Xing Yun felt that God was just unable to slap His own face.

After all, He had told everyone with such certainty that it was cursed; it would be too embarrassing to take it back now. He could only tough it out. Besides, in the last instance, she had already seen that God could be constrained by the instance. How ironic, how insane. It was a world He created, yet He had not left Himself any retreat.

Xing Yun saw God standing on the high steps, pointing upward to open the only exit for light. He stood in the beam of light, holy as if surrounded by gold, looking down upon all living beings.

Others saw God’s compassion and His holiness, but Xing Yun only discovered God’s self-confidence.

Once Xing Yun realized this, she curled her lip; after all, extreme self-confidence always carries a bit of narcissism. And was a God full of rich emotions, to some extent, not more like a human?

As for preventing it from hurting others?

Xing Yun looked at the still-twitching Quan Tianjiao and felt even more that this sentence was a huge joke. God was the one most capable of hurting others. Besides, since you could not die in this instance anyway, what was the harm in being a bit reckless?

Xing Yun turned her head and saw Rong Ping’an’s complicated expression, and could not help but ask, “How much of what God said do you think is true?”

Rong Ping’an glanced at God and shook her head. “I make no comment. I think you should listen to God.”

Xing Yun suppressed the urge to roll her eyes; there was nothing to say to such a bootlicker. No wonder God was willing to share His divine fire with her. If it were Xing Yun, she would also like someone who was both powerful and obedient.

In the infinite games, the majority still believed in God; people like Yu Yan were the minority.

Xing Yun glanced at Rong Ping’an’s legs, her heart heavy with complex emotions. She still remembered the mole theory she had mentioned while talking to God earlier. God had refuted it, but it had not quelled her doubts. She now wondered if Rong Ping’an had anything to do with it.

Immediately, she shook her head. Rong Ping’an had helped her more than once along the way and was her teammate; she could not suspect her like that.

Rong Ping’an cleared her throat. “You should know that everything here was created by God. What good ending can come from angering God? Everything I say is from the bottom of my heart.”

“Stop, stop, stop. Save it.” Xing Yun made a stop gesture. “It seems you have not visited the library in vain. You have been thoroughly brainwashed.”

Rong Ping’an: “No, I had bathed in God’s grace long before I went there. Everything I say is sincere.”

Xing Yun muttered to herself, “It is all your nonsense.”

“I enhanced my hearing in a previous instance…”

Xing Yun: “…”

God roared, “Whispering to each other, disgusting. Stop talking nonsense to others. I told you to give the item to Me; are you deaf?” God sank His face; His gaze toward Xing Yun became increasingly unkind, carrying the air of a coming storm.

Xing Yun saw Him raise one hand, and countless thin threads appeared in the air. In areas where the light was not strong, those threads became even more hidden, making them even harder to dodge.

It would take only seconds for the threads above to fall and carve her into mincemeat.

God’s attack was destructive and swept aside everything, indifferent to the lives of others. Xing Yun was horrified to see many people in front of her sliced in half at the waist. A blood-red thread flew horizontally toward her, and Xing Yun dropped into a sudden backbend, only to see another thread flying in from her left. She braced a hand on the floor, waited for the thread above to pass, and immediately performed a kip-up to rise and narrowly escape.

“I did not say I would not give it to you!” Xing Yun could not help but shout.

The threads in the air paused, brushing right against Xing Yun’s cheek, instantly leaving a cut. Xing Yun’s legs went weak with fear; if she had been a second late, she would have been sliced vertically in half.

God’s smile was quite intrigued. “Now I do not want to take it anymore. What do you say we do?”

Xing Yun: …

She felt that God was doing it on purpose, doing it on purpose to torment her body and soul.

Rong Ping’an grabbed her hand and pulled her over, blue light rising where their palms met. “Theoretically, God’s attacks are impossible to dodge, but I have a rhythm game manual. Follow the instructions.”

“What? What is a rhythm game manual?” Before Xing Yun could fully understand, God’s next wave of attacks came with unstoppable momentum. She saw a giant word suddenly rise before her: Ready?

Xing Yun was still confused when she saw that word turn into GO.

She seemed to have grasped it.

Rong Ping’an said loudly, “Observe carefully!”

Xing Yun immediately focused her attention on what was in front of her.

She had played rhythm games before and was among the best on several leaderboards. She had spent countless late nights racing against others; calling her an octopus would not be an exaggeration. But this was not the kind of rhythm game on a screen she played; this was a 3D model.

Suddenly, bubbles of different colors and sizes appeared in her field of vision.

Damn it, why is it bubbles again? Does every instance have to come with a baptism of bubbles?

“Yellow is for feet, red is for hands, blue is for the waist, purple is for the knees. Move along with them quickly,” Rong Ping’an explained, hitting several perfects in a row.

Xing Yun also started dancing along, but seeing red on top and yellow below, she still felt her mouth twitch—did He want her to do some stunt?

Moreover, these bubbles looked like low-quality textures, three-cent special effects, not even in the same dimension as their surroundings.

Step forward, step back, swing hands, twist waist—it felt like she was on a dance machine.

As the movements became more like a dance, Xing Yun could not help but start thinking—perhaps God had wanted to kill her before, but after the dance machine made its debut, everything had changed. Because she could clearly feel God using the threads to correct her movements, He really wanted her to dance.

Xing Yun felt like vomiting. She wished she could use her gaze to carve God up: “No wonder the system shop sells the Spring Festival Gala. If He can watch the Spring Festival Gala, He must really love watching shows. But I do not love performing for people!”

Rong Ping’an: “Do not talk too much; be cautious. These are just auxiliary tools; you still have to rely on your own observation.” She said this, coming over to grab Xing Yun’s right arm and bringing her to her side, dodging a thin thread. Her gaze was serious. “Be careful.”

“Okay.” Xing Yun nodded. The wounds on her face had already healed, leaving only bloodstains. Rong Ping’an stared at them for two seconds, then reached out and wiped the blood off her face.

She suddenly smiled. “That looks much better.”

After Rong Ping’an said this, Xing Yun felt the thin threads freeze for an instant.

If someone had told her two days ago that she would be performing talent for God today, she definitely would have mocked them for a while. She never expected it to come true.

Xing Yun wanted to be alone right now, especially seeing God’s leisurely and meaningful gaze; she wanted even more to dig a tunnel and hide. Was it too late for her to pretend to have a heart attack?

“She dances so beautifully.” A woman who had lost her arms watched with infatuation, only to have her eyes immediately taken by a thin thread.

God narrowed His eyes. “Tch, beautiful? Nonsense. If she dances beautifully, is it not all thanks to Me?”

He felt Xing Yun’s performance was interesting, especially the way she wanted to kill Him but could not do anything about it; it was enough to make Him laugh heartily for three days and three nights. What beautiful eyes; He really wanted to dig them out and collect them properly.

Quan Tianjiao’s sanity cleared slightly, and following God’s gaze, he saw Xing Yun dancing in the middle. Although he feared God, pleasing God was his only chance to leave, so he looked at God piously and said, “God, she has offended You repeatedly. Kill her!”
