Agent 9 clasped his hands together, using his head as a weapon, body rigid and straight, like a peregrine falcon in the sky, diving down at a terrifying speed.

The Helmet Person threw out a fist to meet him head-on.

This kind of behavior was suicidal.

Melee combat with a vampire?

His brain must have been fried.

Even a 4-star Demon Hunter comparable to Elise wouldn't dare be so arrogant, going head-to-head with a vampire without a weapon.

Humans were merely food that relied on tools; their bodies weren't worth mentioning, and without weapons they were lambs to the slaughter. Besides, this human was weak—he hadn't evolved.

Agent 9 was full of confidence.

A headbutt came smashing down.

After a loud boom, Agent 9 was sent flying backward. He stabilized himself in midair, his face showing shock.

This Helmet Person's strength surpassed that of an Elite Vampire—and weakened by sunlight, only able to exert less than 30% of his power, he'd barely managed to suppress the man.

Agent 9 was surprised, but it didn't matter.

A human body was a delicate structure, nothing compared to a creature like a vampire that didn't fear injury. In the instant of impact, he clearly heard the sound of the man's bones shattering.

That ignorant human was already severely wounded.

Agent 9 wanted to press the attack, but felt a sharp pain shoot through his forehead.

A cross-shaped mark had appeared on his head.

His entire head burst into flame.

Agent 9 crashed, landing beside Agent 12, and the two of them rolled together on the ground.

The flames were quickly extinguished.

Agent 12 sat on the ground, still unable to recover from her severe injuries.

Agent 9 warily scanned the surroundings, searching for the Helmet Person, but to his surprise, the human who should have been severely wounded was gone.

Both of them were drenched in sweat.

Agent 12 warned, "It's an Awakener—he's taking her and running." Her next words were shouted at the vampires in the distance, and the 3 surviving Elite Vampires immediately hoisted Mary up and fled.

"Run? You think you can escape?"

The ghostly voice sounded again, coming from above.

The two vampires looked up and saw the Helmet Person leap down from the billboard.

Without a single trace of injury on him.

"I'll buy time—hurry up and recover."

Agent 9 let out a roar and launched his attack.

But then a horrifying sight appeared before him—the Helmet Person in front of him split apart, instantly dividing into more than a dozen clones, attacking from all directions.

Agent 9 took a punch to the lower back.

He tried to counterattack, but the Helmet Person's forms flickered between real and false, impossible to tell which was the real one—every time his attack was about to land, the man would vanish in an instant.

He was being beaten one-sidedly.

Within a few breaths, Agent 9 had taken more than a dozen punches.

Though these blows carried a lot of force, they couldn't cause any real damage to a vampire—but what was terrifying was the cross in the man's hand.

Flames leapt up.

Agent 9 screamed in agony, and sensing the threat of death, he too unleashed his inner power—red blood mist burst out from his body, scattering the flames that had caught on him.

His body burst apart.

A great gush of blood sprayed out.

The blood was controlled by an invisible force, condensing into blood blades, threads of it interconnected, spinning rapidly to form a storm, slashing indiscriminately at everything around him.

All the clones vanished.

Just as Agent 9 caught his breath, he saw a grenade drop in front of him.

Boom!

He clambered up in a sorry state, his shattered body rapidly repairing itself, but when the smoke from the explosion cleared, he saw a sight that filled him with despair.

Helmet People were everywhere, in every direction.

Nearby, far away, on the billboard, on the utility poles, on the road, even inside a passing car—it was as if he'd fallen into a nightmare.

What terrified him was that, at some point he hadn't noticed, the severely wounded Agent 12 had been seized by several Helmet People, her limbs pinned down.

One Helmet Person toyed with the cross, wrapping it around his hand with a chain, and drove a fist straight into Agent 12's heart.

"No!!!!"

Agent 12 let out a heart-wrenching scream as she was completely set ablaze, and within two breaths, she turned into white ash, dead for good.

All the Helmet People turned their heads toward Agent 9.

In that moment, most of the blood blades hovering around Agent 9's body scattered and dissolved.

Fear pierced his heart like a poisoned needle, and his will to fight collapsed instantly. He flapped his wings to flee, but the moment he took off, a Helmet Person lunged at him and locked onto his leg, then rapidly split apart—more than a dozen Helmet People exerting force together, dragging him back down.

"Get away! Don't come near me!"

Agent 9 went berserk, desperately driving his blood blades to cut them down, but his attack speed couldn't keep up with the man's rate of splitting.

An unknown amount of time passed.

Agent 9 followed in Agent 12's footsteps—overpowered and pinned down by a group of Helmet People, struck in the heart by a single punch, he let out a bloodcurdling scream and turned to silver ash, scattering across the ground.

Mo Yu got out of the car.

All the Mirror Images at the scene vanished, leaving only the cross behind. He walked over, picked up Repentance, and drove back to the Amusement Park, releasing Mirror Images several times along the way to throw off any pursuers, deliberately taking a long detour before finally storing Repentance at a storage locker near the entrance.

For Mo Yu, this had been a long battle—the first time he'd used rewind in melee combat.

He only needed to stick to two principles.

If he couldn't land a hit, use rewind, and attack together with a Mirror Image.

If he got hit, use rewind, and let a Mirror Image draw the fire instead.

Only advance along the timeline that worked in his favor.

From his opponent's perspective, it looked as though his hit rate and Dodge rate were both 100%.

Mirror Images couldn't be released without limit.

If there were too many, the Mirror Images would interfere with one another, causing attacks to fail—7 or 8 Mirror Images attacking together was the limit, and that was also the limit of his melee combat ability.

When he released a Mirror Image, his Main Body would carry Repentance—as long as he landed a hit, he could wait for the Mirror Image to vanish and start the next round of Fierce Attack.

This way, he could guarantee that every hit carried Repentance's Enchantment damage.

Switching to a different type of weapon wouldn't allow this to work.

A weapon couldn't be duplicated, but a fist could—his opponents were dodging his fist, not Repentance.

This ambush had been a stroke of luck.

The vampires had been severely weakened by sunlight, and he still had Repentance, that great killing weapon, in hand.

Neither condition could be missing.

After storing Repentance, Mo Yu activated rewind again, returning to before the ambush, and generated a Mirror Image.

He had something important to do.

Rescue Mary.

The surviving Elite Vampires had moved Mary somewhere, and he didn't know where they'd gone—but now he could intercept them.

He got a car for free, and went ahead to wait near the intersection. Once he heard the sound of the grenade exploding, he immediately drove the car over.

By the time he arrived, he happened to see three Elite Vampires carrying Mary as they fled.

A smooth drift.

The small car spun 180 degrees.

Mo Yu rolled down the window and called out to the vampires, "Get in, quick!"

The 3 Elite Vampires had been on edge, but once they recognized Mo Yu, they immediately threw open the doors and got in.

"Hurry, follow the road! To Ximu Town—2 and 3 will meet us there!"

One vampire sat in the Co-pilot seat giving directions, while the other two sat in the back seat.

Mo Yu floored the gas and sped off.

During the waiting period, he'd deliberately checked the Map and already decided on his destination—an abandoned factory. As he sped along the road, when he deviated from the route, it drew complaints from the 3 vampires in the car.

The vampire in the Co-pilot seat asked, "Where are you going?"

Mo Yu cursed, "Are you idiots? Think about it—why were you ambushed? I sent someone ahead of time, and you still got intercepted and killed along the way. That can only mean there's a Mole among us! If we go to Ximu Town now, what if the Mole sets another trap?"

"That makes sense." *3
