Modernista Bar.

The atmosphere was as lively as ever, the frenzied drumbeats pounding against eardrums.

What was once a place of relaxation and enjoyment for Gu Zhiyan now held no appeal for him whatsoever.Full novel: Please Hear My Confession — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Fang Yang steeled himself and looked at Gu Zhiyan, whose expression was cold and grim.

“Your girlfriend… she hung up the phone.”

A wine glass shattered on the floor, the man’s eyes and brows carrying a heavy, menacing aura.

Ever since that day, Shen Nanyin had not contacted him again.

Gu Zhiyan thought she was just angry for a moment and would come back to him in a few days.

But there had been no word from her.

Until one day, when he clicked into her profile and accidentally triggered a video call, only to discover he had been blocked.

The messages he sent were marked with red exclamation points, and when he went to wait outside her dormitory, he was told she had already moved out.

He stared silently at his chat interface with Shen Nanyin.

Unconsciously, he scrolled up—daily good mornings and goodnights, saving seats at the library, urging him to study.

Things that had once felt somewhat annoying now, after losing them, he couldn’t help but reminisce about.

The Shen family wouldn’t tolerate her—where else could she go?

Would she really rather marry those old geezers than lower her head to him?

“Call again.”

Fang Yang sighed inwardly and reluctantly dialed the number again.

He had warned Gu Zhiyan long ago not to make such bets, not to play games that could backfire on him. And look what happened.

A busy tone came from the other end. Fang Yang’s lips moved slightly.

“She blocked the number…”

A surge of frustration built in his chest, almost burning him up.

Fang Yang hadn’t expected it either. Shen Nanyin always seemed gentle and easygoing, yet she had broken up so decisively, leaving no room for reconciliation.

“What’s the rush? Women throwing tantrums are always like this,” Chen Yuanyi said flippantly. “Blocking you just means she wants you to coax her.”

“The kind who won’t take the offered olive branch—just ignore her for a few days, and she’ll realize her mistake.”

Hearing this, Fang Yang immediately looked at Gu Zhiyan. Surely he didn’t actually believe that, did he?

The women who stayed with Chen Yuanyi were mostly after money—only fools chased feelings, of course they’d take the initiative to reconcile.

But Shen Nanyin was different.

To Fang Yang’s dismay, Gu Zhiyan indeed seemed convinced, his previously dark expression easing slightly.

Chen Yuanyi pressed on, his tone dripping with disdain. “Besides, didn’t your dad arrange for you to marry the eldest daughter of the Su family? The Shen family isn’t much, and Shen Nanyin isn’t even favored. A woman like that is just for keeping on the side for fun.”

“Trust me, once you announce the engagement news, she’ll come running to you within three days. Then you can put her in her place, and she’ll be obedient for sure.”

Fang Yang couldn’t take it anymore. He hesitated but finally spoke up. “I don’t think Shen Nanyin is that kind of person, and… she seemed pretty serious that day.”

“Gu Zhiyan, listen to me. If you really like her, you shouldn’t—”

Gu Zhiyan cut him off coldly.

“Who said I like her?”

…

Unbelievable. What a stubborn fool.

Fang Yang simply shut his mouth.

“Exactly,” Chen Yuanyi said with a grin, slinging an arm over Fang Yang’s shoulder. “Bro, you must not have seen enough women, lack experience. They’re experts at playing hard to get.”

“How about this? As your bro, I can introduce you to a few?”

Fang Yang resisted the urge to kick him, suspecting he was actually a mole sent by the enemy.

Watching Gu Zhiyan contact the media to announce his engagement to the Su family—a god-tier move—Fang Yang simply gave up.

Anyway, I’ve already given all the necessary reminders. If some people insist on making trouble, there’s nothing I can do about it.
