Aiden Shaw’s brow tightened.
He wrapped a slender arm around Laura Lowell’s waist, and as he shielded the back of her head, his wrist slammed straight into the hard doorframe.
“Are you okay?”
Startled but unharmed, Laura Lowell shook her head.
“I’m fine.
Thank you.”
Once he confirmed the girl was unhurt, Aiden Shaw’s dark, deep eyes turned stern.
“This is a hospital,” he said, his voice cool and detached.
“Please leave immediately.”
The chilling aura emanating from him sent a shiver down one’s spine.
The reporters exchanged wary glances, until one of them suddenly asked in a low voice, “Excuse me, are you Laura Lowell’s boyfriend?”
Aiden Shaw kept Laura Lowell protectively in his arms.
He looked down at the girl, and a barely perceptible hint of warmth flashed through his jet-black eyes.
“I am Laura’s boyfriend.”
Hearing his confirmation, the reporters frantically pressed their shutters, camera flashes going off in a nonstop CLICK-CLICK-CLICK.
Laura Lowell looked up at Aiden Shaw, her eyes filled with a complexity she herself couldn’t put into words.
‘Their relationship was fake, so why did this moment feel so real?’
Aiden Shaw ushered Laura Lowell into the elevator, where they happened to run into Dr.
Ward from his department.
“Dr.
Shaw… god… goddess…”
Dr.
Ward’s eyes went wide as he stared at Laura Lowell.
Clutching his chest over his THUMP-THUMP-THUMPing heart that felt ready to burst, he spoke again, ecstatic.
C-can… can I get a picture with you?”
The hand Aiden Shaw had on Laura Lowell’s shoulder tightened slightly, naturally pulling the girl into his embrace.
“No.”
Aiden Shaw’s powerful aura was utterly intimidating, and a sharp, severe look suddenly churned in his eyes.
Laura Lowell, on the other hand, didn’t think it was a big deal.
Since he was Dr.
Shaw’s colleague, it was a small request she could grant.
“Of course.
I can take a picture with you.”
Dr.
Ward instinctively glanced at Aiden Shaw.
‘He’s terrifying when he gets this grim.
It’s scaring the life out of me.’
Considering his future survival, Dr.
Ward decisively shook his head.
“The goddess is Dr.
Shaw’s girlfriend, so there will be plenty of opportunities to meet later.
Let’s skip the picture for now.”
“Alright then.”
As he closed the door, Laura Lowell’s gaze happened to fall on Aiden Shaw’s wrist.
It was a little red and swollen—an injury he must have gotten when he protected her just now.
“Your wrist is hurt.
Do you have any ointment?”
“Will this affect your surgeries?
You wouldn’t have gotten hurt if you weren’t protecting me.”
The more Laura Lowell thought about it, the guiltier she felt.
He was a doctor, with countless surgeries waiting for him every day.
An injury to those hands would be a huge problem.
Seeing how nervous she was, a faint smile touched the corners of Aiden Shaw’s eyes.
He deliberately teased her, “If the swelling doesn’t go down, it might affect my surgeries.”
“Your hands are so precious!
Why did you have to save me?
At worst, I would’ve just gotten a little bump.
And now look, you can’t even perform surgery.”
Aiden Shaw couldn’t help but raise his hand and gently pat the girl’s head.
A soothing smile touched his lips.
“Weren’t you going to put some ointment on for me?”
‘Another head-pat attack.’
Laura Lowell’s heart gave a violent lurch.
‘Why does this man love patting my head so much?’
‘It’s seriously charming, you know?’
“So… where’s the ointment?”
“In the cabinet.
First drawer on the left.”
