Laura Lowell had no work scheduled for the next few days.
After yesterday’s public relationship announcement, Jolene Joyce told her not to come to the office, saying a crowd of fans was camped out by the entrance.
That guy, Zachary Redgrave, had already flown abroad for a music video shoot.
When he found out about her announcement, he’d nearly blown up Laura Lowell’s phone.
At noon, Laura Lowell ordered takeout.
After eating, she curled up on the sofa to binge-watch a show.
She was right at a heart-wrenching scene when the phone on the coffee table started ringing.
Laura Lowell leaned over and picked up her phone.
It was the director of the orphanage.
“Dean Miller, is something wrong?”
“Laura, Mido just had a heart attack.
We’re already on our way to the hospital.”
Dean Miller’s anxious voice came from the other end of the line.
Laura Lowell shot up from the sofa in a panic and ran toward her bedroom.
“I’ll call my friend at the hospital right away.
I’m heading over now.”
After hanging up, Laura Lowell immediately called Hannah Hale.
She hastily grabbed something from her closet, changed, and rushed out the door.
As she drove out of her residential complex, she saw quite a few reporters lying in wait at the main gate.
Laura Lowell was in no mood to play cat and mouse with them, so she just slammed her foot on the gas. Enjoying the story? Read on at g.com.
Seeing the car hurtling toward them, the reporters scrambled out of the way.
Survival came first.
“Is Laura Lowell crazy?”
“Stop wasting time!
Get in the car and follow her!
Any more dawdling and she’ll be gone.”
The swarm of reporters piled into their respective cars.
Seeing how rushed Laura Lowell was, they were sure something big had happened.
This could be another huge scoop.
Along the way, Laura Lowell ran who-knows-how-many red lights, her heart in her throat the entire time.
…
At the hospital, Hannah Hale had a surgery that was about to begin, so she had to entrust Little Mido’s case to Aiden Shaw.
When Dean Miller’s car arrived at the hospital, Aiden Shaw and a nurse were already waiting in the lobby.
After wheeling the child into the emergency room, Aiden Shaw used a defibrillator to resuscitate Little Mido.
By the time Laura Lowell arrived, the child had already been resuscitated.
It had been a close call, but thankfully there was no real danger.
“Dr.
Shaw, is Little Mido okay?”
Laura Lowell had run up the stairs the whole way, so she was still a little out of breath, her breathing uneven.
Aiden Shaw thoughtfully patted Laura Lowell on the back.
His deep voice was as pleasant as a cello.
“Why didn’t you take the elevator?”
“It was too crowded, I couldn’t squeeze in.
I was worried about Little Mido, so I just ran up the stairs.”
Laura Lowell’s mind was completely focused on Little Mido, so she didn’t even notice Aiden Shaw’s sweet, caring gesture.
“The child is awake now, but we’ll need to run further tests to know the full situation.”
“Thank you, Dr.
Sh—”
Before Laura Lowell could finish her sentence, she was swarmed by a flood of reporters.
She had been so worried about Little Mido that she’d completely forgotten about the crowd following her.
‘They’re like leeches, impossible to shake off.’
When the reporters saw Aiden Shaw standing beside her, their gossip-hungry eyes lit up instantly.
“Laura Lowell, this must be your boyfriend, right?”
“So your boyfriend is a doctor!
And so handsome.”
“Did you rush out in your car in such a hurry just to see your boyfriend?”
They fired off questions like a machine gun, steadily closing in on Laura Lowell with their cameras.
Jostled by the crowd, Laura Lowell lost her footing and started to fall backward…
