Sinnoh Region, Solaceon Town.

Inside a massive ancient ruin abandoned for thousands of years on the eastern side of town, a young boy was sprinting wildly.

He took massive strides, moving at a blistering pace, capable of running through the corridors of every floor in the ruin in mere moments.Full novel: Pokemon: The starter Pokémon is Agumon — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Passing through floor after floor, the boy showed no signs of slowing down.

As he ran, he occasionally glanced back and shouted loudly at the shadows behind him.

“Did you sleep your brains away over the past few millennia?

Or did you starve yourselves stupid from not eating for so long?

You still haven’t caught up after all this time, and you call yourselves guardians of the ruin with this kind of efficiency?

Even a Slowpoke would give you a thumbs up.”

His booming voice echoed down the corridor, swiftly drifting into the shadows behind him.

But as the seconds and minutes ticked by, the darkness remained dead silent without the slightest stir.

“I guess using taunts too much makes them immune to it,” the boy muttered.

He quickly decided to change his approach, raising his voice to a roar.

“If you guys don’t catch up soon, I’m going to start dismantling this ruin!

After a few thousand years, this piece of junk is due for demolition anyway!”

As he spoke, the boy picked up a rock from the ground and hurled it at the adjacent wall.

*Bang!*

The rock smashed against the wall, the crisp sound of shattering echoing through the corridor.

Yet, it was still met with dead silence and zero response.

However, at some unknown point, a giant black eye appeared right where the rock had struck.

Immediately after, all around this eye—on the corridor floor, the walls, the ceiling—one eye after another slowly surfaced in dense clusters.

Their tightly shut eyes slowly opened.

At first, their gazes swept the surroundings in confusion, but the moment their sights locked onto the boy, they let out furious, urgent, and piercing shrieks, as if they had just spotted their mortal enemy.

“Jima!!!”

Then, these giant eyes phased out of the walls, transforming into dark shadows that charged straight at the boy.

Under the dim, yellow light of the ruin, one could vaguely make out that these were Pokémon exuding an aura of ancient history, their appearances closely resembling the twenty-six letters of the English alphabet.

They were Pokémon fiercely dedicated to guarding ancient ruins—the Unown.

“That’s more like it.

You should be a bit more proactive at work.”

The boy nodded in satisfaction, then immediately bolted.

Seeing the smile on the boy’s face, the Unown were instantly enraged and accelerated, desperate to catch him.

But every time they were on the verge of catching up, the boy would suddenly swerve, expertly ducking into another corridor with practiced ease to evade their pursuit.

It was as if, compared to them, the boy was the true guardian familiar with this ruin.

This made the Unown exceptionally furious, but they had no other choice but to chase him with all their might.

Fortunately, after a few sharp turns and changes in direction, the boy, who had been maintaining a high-speed sprint, gradually slowed down and came to a halt.

Up ahead, at a corner that should have been passable, a partial collapse of the ruin had left a massive boulder blocking the middle of the corridor, cutting off the path forward.

It was a dead end.

The Unown also noticed this and began letting out gloating cries.

With the path ahead blocked and the way back completely sealed off by their swarm, it was a picture-perfect dead end.

Following that, the Unown rapidly channeled the only move they knew—Hidden Power.

Red, blue, green, purple…

Orbs of energy in various colors, radiating powerful auras, quickly gathered in front of them.

In the next second, the energy orbs filling the entire corridor poured out toward where the boy stood.

Faced with this seemingly inescapable situation, the boy stared blankly, yet surprisingly showed no signs of panic.

Once the incoming attacks reached a certain distance, he swiftly bent down and rolled to the side, expertly diving into a breach in the adjacent wall that could barely fit one person.

*Boom!!!*

An explosion roared through the corridor.

All of the Unown’s attacks brushed past him, the vast majority blasting into the spot where he had just been standing, blowing a massive crater into the ground.

A smaller portion of the attacks landed on the giant boulder blocking the path ahead, blasting a moderately sized crack into the stone.

Seeing this, the boy didn’t hesitate.

Using the dust and smoke kicked up by the explosion as cover, while the Unown were still observing the situation, he quickly stepped out from the breach in the wall and slipped through the crack in the boulder.

On the other side of the giant boulder, the lighting shifted from dark to bright.

After squinting to adjust his eyes, the boy began to survey his surroundings.

The area before him wasn’t much different from the rest of the ruin.

It was still a corner of a dilapidated ancient structure, permeated with the historical aura accumulated over countless years.

However, a smile broke out on the boy’s face.

“It took so much effort, and I even had to get chased by Unown every now and then, but I finally made it inside.

I wonder who the first Pokémon I summon will be after fully exploring this millennia-old ruin.”

The boy’s name was Sinshi, a transmigrator.

He had arrived in the Pokémon world a week ago, transmigrating directly into the untamed wilderness where he could face ferocious Pokémon at any moment.

Fortunately, before crossing over, Sinshi was a “virtual wilderness survival expert” who frequently watched Bear Grylls and Ed Stafford videos.

After a few days of trial and error, he was barely able to remain self-sufficient in the jungle.

But a new problem soon emerged.

Over the course of this week, he had nearly run into irritable, highly aggressive Pokémon like Ursaring and Beautifly several times.

This made him realize that in the world of Pokémon, if he truly wanted to guarantee his safety and figure out how to survive in the future, he absolutely needed a Pokémon alongside his survival knowledge.

But the problem before him was very realistic—he had no money to buy a Pokémon, he wasn’t some Super Pallet Towner who could subdue Pokémon with brute force, and he certainly didn’t have the luck to stumble upon an injured Pokémon that needed help and would pledge its life to him in return.

Most importantly of all…

he didn’t even have a Poké Ball.

Without a Poké Ball, everything was just empty talk.

Fortunately, just as he was at his wit’s end, a blue virtual panel slowly materialized.

With his rich experience reading web novels, Sinshi quickly accepted and understood the panel’s general information.

Simply put, it was a summoning panel capable of randomly summoning certain things.

And the very first target he could summon was the exact assistance he needed most right now—a Pokémon.

However, the panel required energy to activate, and the method to collect energy was to explore things with a long history, such as ancient ruins and historical architecture.

The ruin beneath Sinshi’s feet was the only target he had found after exploring the vicinity.

Relying on his excellent physical fitness and reflexes, he had already explored the vast majority of the area over the past few days, bringing his exploration progress to 96%.

The only part left was this area blocked by the giant boulder, which he had no way of bypassing.

He had observed it on-site; the weight and hardness of this boulder were not something he could move or destroy without a Pokémon.

Therefore, he had no choice but to devise a plan to enrage the Unown guarding the ruin, using their power to blast the boulder open.

Although the process was a bit perilous, and he could have been obliterated by the furious Unown at any moment, Sinshi understood the principle of ‘nothing ventured, nothing gained.’

Fortunately, everything went smoothly, and he entered this final area in one piece.

At the same time, on the panel that only Sinshi could see, lines of small blue text were flashing.

[Random Ruins — Exploring]

[Exploration Progress: 96%…97%…98%……99%…100%]

[Exploration Complete.

Summoning available.]

[Summon Target — A random Pokémon.

Proceed with summoning?]

[Yes / No]

Sinshi directly selected “Yes”.

Amidst the prompt [Summoning in progress…], the panel before him suddenly began to spin, then dissolved into fine specks of light that formed a circular portal as tall as a person.

A blue light flared, and a figure about one meter tall poked its head out from the portal.

It was a creature that looked exactly like a small dinosaur.

The vast majority of its body was covered in yellow, with only the tips of the claws on its hands and feet being white.

It stood there, looking around with large, teal eyes while scratching its head with muscular arms that were as large as its feet, its expression filled with confusion.

As for why it was called a creature and not a specific Pokémon, it was because Sinshi didn’t know either.

The guy standing before him perhaps shouldn’t be called a Pokémon, but rather…

a Digimon?

And not just any Digimon, but the partner of the first season’s anime protagonist, Taichi Yagami—the evolution of Koromon, jokingly referred to by fans as the origin of all things: Agumon.

Yes, the one that walked out of the portal formed by the summoning panel was an Agumon.

At this moment, Sinshi also fell into confusion.

Theoretically speaking, in the Pokémon world, there were several species of Pokémon that possessed the ability to change their forms.

Faced with an unknown situation, transforming into the appearance of another Pokémon made sense.

But no matter how it transformed, it couldn’t cross worldviews and turn from a Pokémon into a Digimon.

‘Or could it be that I inadvertently fell under a Hypnosis attack, causing me to hallucinate?’

If that were the case, the Agumon issue could be perfectly explained.

Sinshi took a deep breath.

Forcing himself to stay calm, he silently opened the panel.

Aside from charging and summoning, the panel also had a basic function for inspecting Pokémon data and information.

He just needed to use it to check the other party’s information to know exactly what the guy in front of him was.

Immediately, Sinshi looked at “Agumon,” and the panel followed suit, focusing on the creature.

In an instant, lines of small blue text appeared before his eyes.
