Based on what Palkia had just conveyed, it hadn’t brought him here simply as a prank.
It had come looking for food.
If that was the case, then there should be something here that it wanted to eat…
“Hiss…
hiss…” Suddenly, Lucas heard rustling sounds coming from a nearby patch of bushes.
He immediately slowed his steps and fixed his gaze on the source of the noise.
The next moment, a green, scale-covered creature with four limbs and the appearance of a salamander burst out from the undergrowth.
“A Green-Scale Lizard?” A stream of light flashed across Lucas ‘s eyes.
Green-Scale Lizard Level: 6 (One-Star Ferocious Beast) Since the outskirts surrounding the base city were regularly cleared by human Trainers, ferocious beasts rarely appeared there.
Every now and then, however, a few stragglers would slip through.
This Green-Scale Lizard was clearly one of those survivors.
A blur flashed behind Lucas .
Palkia had moved.
Its adorable little claws glowed with an intense violet light before slashing across the Green-Scale Lizard with lightning speed.
A desperate shriek rang through the forest.
In a single instant, the Green-Scale Lizard was cut into three pieces.
Its supposedly impenetrable green scales offered no protection whatsoever.
Under Palkia’s claws, they were as fragile as paper.
A notification suddenly appeared before Lucas ‘s eyes.
Palkia defeated Green-Scale Lizard.
Experience Gained: 65 Palkia – Level 1 (65/100 EXP) Obtained: Green-Scale Lizard Meat × 60 catties Green-Scale Lizard Scales × 201 Green-Scale Lizard Claws × 4 Green-Scale Lizard Fangs × 32 The battle had ended almost before it began.
Lucas stood there with his mouth hanging open.
He knew that a Legendary Pokémon like Palkia would be powerful.
What he hadn’t expected was for it to slaughter a Level 6 ferocious beast as effortlessly as chopping vegetables.
“Gawu~” Palkia casually peeled away the Green-Scale Lizard’s scales with its claws before selecting the fattest piece of belly meat.
It swallowed it in a single bite.
After smacking its lips, it seemed rather unimpressed by the taste and ignored the rest of the carcass.
Seeing this, Lucas stepped forward.
He took off his jacket, wrapped up the remaining beast meat into a bundle, and slung it over his shoulder.
Palkia might have looked down on it, but One-Star Green-Scale Lizards were actually worth quite a bit of money.
One-Star beast meat usually sold for around ten credits per catty.
The beast materials were even more valuable.
The claws and fangs could be crafted into daggers and short blades, while the scales could be forged into armor.
All of these could be exchanged at the Pokémon Center for money and contribution points.
Contribution points could be used to purchase armor and equipment, greatly increasing a Trainer’s chances of survival.
Of course, if either the Trainer or their Pokémon possessed crafting talent, they could keep the materials and forge equipment themselves.
However, only a handful of Pokémon naturally possessed such abilities.
For example, Samurott could naturally polish and forge blades thanks to the sword-like weapons it developed through evolution.
Aegislash excelled at creating shields.
Conkeldurr possessed exceptional construction Moves and could produce reinforced concrete, which explained the concrete pillars it constantly carried.
Kingambit was equally adept at forging razor-sharp weapons.
Meanwhile, Pokémon such as Crustle and Leavanny were capable of crafting armor that was both durable and remarkably resilient.
After packing away the materials, Lucas noticed Palkia scanning the surroundings again.
It quickly found another target.
Rustle…
rustle…
Under the moonlight, countless vines slithered across the ground like snakes, rapidly converging toward them.
“Those are…” Snakevine Root Level: 9 (One-Star Ferocious Beast) The Snakevine Roots had likely sensed the scent of fresh blood and rushed over from afar.
Individually, each vine wasn’t particularly dangerous.
But when dozens gathered together like this, they became a formidable threat.
When Lucas looked at Palkia beside him, however, he found the little Pokémon looking completely unconcerned.
It even lazily scratched its head as if it were bored.
Whoosh!
Several vines twisted together into a massive whip and lashed toward them.
Only then did Palkia move.
The purple pearl embedded in its neck radiated dazzling energy.
Opening its mouth, it unleashed Dragon Breath.
A violent violet storm instantly tore the incoming vines apart before spreading outward and engulfing every Snakevine Root nearby.
Crack!
Snap!
Pop!
The forest echoed with the sound of branches shattering.
Broken vines scattered across the ground.
The Snakevine Roots were completely annihilated.
The corner of Lucas ‘s mouth twitched as he watched Palkia pick out the two thickest, freshest vines from the pile.
It chewed on them like candy sticks.
Clearly…
Even a Level 9 One-Star ferocious beast couldn’t survive a single exchange with Palkia.
Palkia defeated Snakevine Root.
Experience Gained: 98 Palkia leveled up to Level 2 (63/200 EXP) Obtained: Snakevine Root Branches × 198 Snakevine Root Core × 4 From then on, Palkia swept through the wilderness.
Whenever it spotted a ferocious beast, it would eagerly charge forward.
Moments later…
The unfortunate creature would be utterly defeated.
Palkia defeated Little Fang Wolf.
Experience Gained: 67 Palkia – Level 2 (130/200 EXP) Obtained: Complete Little Fang Wolf Pelt × 1 Little Fang Wolf Meat × 70 catties Little Fang Wolf Claws × 4 Little Fang Wolf Fangs × 28 Palkia defeated Armored Pillbug.
Experience Gained: 71 Palkia leveled up to Level 3 (1/300 EXP) Obtained: Armored Pillbug Shell Fragments × 17 Insect Venom Sac × 1 …
As battle after battle continued, Palkia’s level steadily climbed.
With another flash of light, it reached Level 3.
It had been outside for less than an hour.
Yet it was already a Level 3 Pokémon.
To most people, such a thing was nothing short of unbelievable.
Normally, Pokémon grew stronger little by little.
Newly hatched Pokémon were especially fragile and usually incapable of fighting.
Most Trainers spent time raising them first before allowing them to spar with the Pokémon of other beginner Trainers to gain experience gradually.
As for challenging ferocious beasts immediately after hatching…
No one would even dare consider such madness.
Battles against ferocious beasts were almost always fights to the death.
A single defeat meant death.
Whether it was the Pokémon that died or the Trainer themselves, neither outcome was something anyone could accept.
