Thank you 🙂 ——————– This is Dewford Town, a small island located in the southwestern part of the Hoenn region, situated between Route 106 and Route 107.Full novel: Pokémon: The Rock Monarch — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

It serves as a relay point for travel between Petalburg City and Slateport City.

Unlike other towns, it lacked the booming commerce of Rustboro City or the exceptional natural scenery of Fortree City.

It was just an ordinary little island, hailed as “A tiny island in the blue sea..” Yet, even on such an unassuming island, a Gym existed—the Dewford Gym, specializing in Fighting-type Pokémon.

The reason for its existence lay in the mine to the north of the island: Granite Cave.

It was precisely because of Granite Cave that the island attracted countless travelers seeking rare stones and Rock-type Pokémon enthusiasts.

Take the current Hoenn League Champion, Steven Stone—a man who loved rocks more than himself—travelers would often spot him in the deepest parts of the cave.

Leo Flint—this was the name he went by in this life.

His home in this life was located at the foot of the Granite Cave mountain, a courtyard-style pavilion with a cool color palette.

His father, Clarence Flint, was a veteran prospector and an Ace-tier trainer who currently managed the family mine.

His mother, Holly Middleton, was a junior Pokémon Breeder, now going by Mrs.

Flint.

His family’s financial situation wasn’t top-tier, but for Leo, who had transmigrated here with his memories of his past life intact, it was more than enough.

Coming to the Pokémon world with both parents alive and never having to worry about food or shelter was a blessing in itself.

Most importantly, the Flint family was the supplier of iron ore and stone materials for the Devon Corporation in Dewford Town, maintaining a long-standing partnership with the Stone family.

As the Devon Corporation was one of the corporate giants of the Pokémon world, this identity guaranteed that Leo was a recognized member of the League from birth.

He could walk the standard path of a trainer, free from the harassment of dark syndicates.

Don’t be fooled into thinking the Pokémon world was just like the anime, where life was nothing but adventuring, battling, and fighting Legendaries.

Because Granite Cave was rich in minerals, the Flint family’s main business was mining iron ore.

Consequently, the mine was located just a short distance from their courtyard, right against the southern slope of Granite Cave.

The abundant ore and stone naturally attracted a large number of Rock-type and Ground-type Pokémon to settle in the area.

The mine functioned almost like a nature reserve for wild Pokémon.

As a result, from the moment he was born into this world, Leo was exposed to these seemingly cold, yet profoundly steadfast Rock and Ground-type Pokémon, and he grew to love them.

Aside from Clarence Flint’s two Onix and a Golem that served as guards—specifically protecting the many Geodude working the mine—several other wild Pokémon also lived here.

The most common were the Geodude herds, Onix, and Machop.

The rarer sightings included Nosepass and Shuckle.

As rent for living on the property, these wild Pokémon would occasionally help out with the mining.

Over time, a deep, mutual understanding had formed between the humans and Pokémon.

Growing up in this environment, little Leo was deeply influenced by his father and set his sights on becoming a Rock- and Ground-type Pokémon Master.

His genuine love for Pokémon made him good friends with all the creatures living on the grounds.

Seeing how well his son got along with the Pokémon, Clarence Flint began teaching Leo everything he knew about them.

Although Leo had been a hardcore Pokémon fan in his past life, actually living in this world and seeing real, breathing Pokémon made him realize the vast difference between reality and fiction.

As an Ace-tier trainer, Clarence was able to perfectly bridge the gap between Leo’s rigid, game-and-anime-based mindset and the reality of this world.

For example, Onix is a Rock/Ground-type with a 4x weakness to Water and Grass.

However, that stat only represented the base damage multiplier those moves would inflict on an Onix.

In reality, numerous factors could mitigate that damage—terrain, the Pokémon’s level, on-the-fly commands, and so on.

Data was data, but reality was reality.

Rigorous training and a trainer’s battlefield commands could effectively negate these weaknesses.

This was where a trainer’s true capability shined, and it was exactly why trainers were classified into distinct tiers: Rookie, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Ace, Gym Leader, Elite Four, and Master.

What distinguished these tiers was a trainer’s mastery over their Pokémon, their familiarity with them, their training methods, and—most importantly—their commanding ability.

Rookie Tier: Newly acquired their first Pokémon and embarked on their journey.

They possess a basic understanding of Pokémon theory but cannot apply it to actual combat.

They have virtually no commanding skills and their tactics are extremely crude.

Corresponds to Pokémon Levels 0~10.

Beginner Tier: Beginning to combine theory with practice.

They understand the basics of battling and Pokémon.

They have their own preliminary understanding of combat but have yet to form a tactical system and cannot fully draw out their Pokémon’s combat power.

Achieved by earning 1 Gym Badge, commanding Pokémon Levels 10~20, and their starter Pokémon beginning to evolve.

Intermediate Tier: Possesses a certain amount of experience.

Can start to integrate Pokémon abilities, terrain, and external factors into battle to their advantage.

Capable of reasonably combining skills and possesses a basic tactical setup.

Achieved by earning 4 Gym Badges and commanding Pokémon Levels 20~30.

Advanced Tier: Proficient in utilizing various favorable factors and combining different Pokémon skills.

Possesses a mature tactical system and can adapt to sudden situations at any time.

Achieved by earning 8 Gym Badges and commanding Pokémon Levels 30~45.

Ace Tier: Skillfully integrates Pokémon abilities into battle, gradually forming their own combat style.

They break free from the constraints of Pokémon attributes, begin to master themselves, and form a unique “Presence” (Aura/Momentum)!

They can fully draw out a Pokémon’s strength.

Achieved by reaching the elimination rounds or even winning a League Conference, commanding Pokémon Levels 45~60.

(T/N: The aura mentioned here is NOT the aura that Aura Guardians used.

Just regular aura farming type aura.) Gym Tier: Powerful trainers who guard major cities.

They possess their own system and style, skillfully applying various strategies.

Their Pokémon begin to deeply master the manipulation of their own type’s energy, and their “Domain” undergoes a deeper transformation.

Typically are actual Gym Leaders or mid-to-high level League officials, commanding Pokémon Levels 60~70.

Elite Four Tier: Reaching the pinnacle of trainers.

Their Pokémon skillfully wield their own type’s energy and combine/master external type energies.

They are no longer bound by traditional commands and combat.

Usually leaders of the League or important department directors, commanding Pokémon Levels 70~90.

Note: There is a massive gap even among Elite Four members.

Master Tier: The bond between trainer and Pokémon is perfectly fused.

They ignore attribute, ability, and skill differences—a true Pokémon Master who controls all energy!

Commands Pokémon of any level, even Legendaries without divine authority.

Therefore, the gap between each tier of trainers was massive.

Even within the same tier, differences in proficiency were glaringly obvious.

Under the tutelage of his Ace-tier father, Leo spent his days studying Pokémon knowledge and growing up alongside his Pokémon friends.

Finally, at the age of ten, he was of age to receive his starter Pokémon.

Leo looked at himself in the mirror: blue jeans, a black short-sleeved shirt, and running shoes.

“It’s time!” Shouldering his backpack and slipping on his gloves, the boy smiled in satisfaction.

“I can’t wait any longer!” Leo’s eyes brimmed with excitement.

Ever since he transmigrated, he had been yearning for this very day!

“Ten years…

I can finally go out and truly see this world!

The Pokémon world!” He dashed down the stairs.

“Mom!

Mom!

I’m heading out!” “Slow down, watch your step, don’t be so reckless!” Mrs.

Flint looked at her excited son, feeling a mix of helplessness and reluctance to see him go.

“Is everything packed?

Double-check if you forgot anything.

Remember to brush your teeth every day, and call home as soon as you reach a new town…” “Oh, I know, Mom!

You’ve told me this a dozen times already!” Watching his mother start to nag again, Leo could only sigh inwardly.

Sure enough, mothers are the same in every universe.

Always worrying about their kids leaving the nest.

“Don’t worry, Mom, I’ve got it all memorized.” Seeing her son’s earnest expression, Mrs.

Flint smiled.

“Alright, alright, I’ll stop.

Just make sure you stay safe out there!” Leo nodded with a grin.

“Just wait and see, I’m going to be the Champion of the Hoenn region!” “Okay, my little Champion, off you go!

Your dad is waiting for you at the mine.” “Yep!

I’m off.

Bye, Mom!” After saying goodbye to his mother, Leo sprinted toward the nearby mine.

From afar, he could see his father, Clarence Flint, applying wax to his two Onix.

It was a special stone wax used to increase the density and luster of rock armor.

“Dad!

Onix!

I’m ready to head out!” he yelled.

“Roar~!” x2 The Onix bellowed in greeting.

“You little brat!” Clarence shot his son a sideways glance.

“Couldn’t wait to get out of here, huh?” Leo gave a sheepish smile, trying to act composed.

“Come on, Dad, I’ve been looking forward to this for years.” “Hmph.

Rock is supposed to be heavy and steadfast.

Look at you, acting all flighty…” Leo straightened his face, stroking the body of the mother Onix with deep affection.

Seeing the Onix’s expression of pure bliss, he said in a profound tone, “Which is exactly why Onix and I are a perfect match!” “Hey, you brat!” Clarence slapped his posing son on the back of the head in exasperation.

He then turned to the mother Onix.

“Alright, I know why you’re here.

Onix, we’re counting on you.” Rubbing his forehead, Leo dropped his smile and replied with equal seriousness.

“Don’t worry.

I promise I’ll train him right!

In the future, we’re going to stand on the grandest stage of them all!” “Roar!” The mother Onix nodded, turning her gaze toward the father Onix.

The father Onix reared up, his tail glowing with a stark white light, and smashed it fiercely into the ground.

Boom!

The earth cracked open!

Iron Tail!

Crack!

Accompanying the sound, a smaller Onix burst forth from the cracked earth behind its parents.

This was their child, and Leo’s childhood playmate.

“Roar~” As soon as the young Onix emerged, it affectionately bumped heads with its parents before slithering over to Leo, lowering its head to his level.

“Onix, are you ready?” Leo asked softly, gently hugging the young Onix’s head.

“We’re about to set off on our journey!” The Onix parents, Clarence, and a crowd of Geodude, Golem, Machop, Shuckle, and Nosepass that had gathered around without anyone noticing…

everyone watched the boy and the young Onix.

They were witnessing this moment, witnessing the birth of an unbreakable bond between human and Pokémon.

“Roar~” The young Onix looked into the boy’s eyes and gave a firm nod.

Leo smiled joyfully.

From his belt, he unclipped a black Poké Ball with three yellow rings across its top—a Luxury Ball manufactured by the Devon Corporation.

These balls were designed to increase a Pokémon’s comfort and friendship.

Devon would gift a set of six freshly manufactured balls to their partners every year.

He tapped the button, and the Luxury Ball expanded in his hand.

“Then, come with me!

My partner!” Leo held the ball out to the young Onix.

The Rock Snake Pokémon gently tapped the button with its nose.

A flash of red light enveloped it, sucking it inside the ball.

It didn’t even wobble once, settling with a crisp ‘Ding!’ Leo raised the Luxury Ball high in triumph.

“Gotcha!

My partner!” [Ding!

Host has successfully acquired their starter Pokémon.

The Auxiliary System has been activated!]
