Scattered sunlight filtered through the intertwining branches, devoid of the sun’s warmth.

In the grass, Bug-type Pokémon slowly crawled up and down, getting their morning exercise.
One or two occasionally cast a curious glance at the human walking on the path before resuming their morning calisthenics, paying him no more mind.
Startled Oddish and Lotad by the roadside, shedding tears of grievance, hastily burrowed into the grass and vanished.
Up in the treetops, a solitary Seedot happily gnawed on a Berry.
And so began a beautiful day.
Walking on the path, Leo stepped out of yesterday’s melancholy.
Full of renewed energy, he observed everything along the way, quietly experiencing the beauty of nature.
After yesterday’s battle with Breloom, Onix’s strength had improved further.
For the rest of the journey, as long as there was no danger, challenges from wild Pokémon and trainers would be handed over to Mudkip.
Otherwise, the gap between his two Pokémon would become too large, affecting future training and tactical arrangements.
Just as he was planning Mudkip’s training regimen, a figure emerged from the grass.
Wearing a straw hat and holding a bug net, he energetically blocked the middle of the path.

They all turned into experience points for Mudkip, allowing it to successfully level up to Lv.14 and learn the moves Supersonic and Protect, significantly boosting its strength.
Mudkip had now reached the brink of evolution, which could be considered achieving one of the goals for this trip.
The landscape of the jungle was ever-changing.
Leaving the vast wetlands and grass behind, Leo arrived at a rare, open clearing.
Here, the trees grew straight up toward the sky.
Unlike the previous giant trees with their varied postures that formed a canopy blocking out the heavens, these large trees stood in rows lining both sides of the path.
The branches on their trunks were orderly and neatly woven into a massive net, mAceng one marvel at the uncanny craftsmanship of nature.
“Hello, are you a Pokémon Trainer?” A polite voice drifted over.
A young boy wearing a black T-shirt, yellow cargo pants, and a red sports cap with a League badge on it was smiling at Leo.

I’m traveling to become a Normal-type specialist like Mr.
Norman.
Please battle me!” ‘Have I met a fan of Mr.
Norman?’ Amused and bewildered, Leo scratched his head and said, “As a Pokémon Trainer, I naturally won’t refuse a challenge!” He was finally facing a decent opponent!
“I’m Leo from Dewford Town, aiming to become a Rock- and Ground-type Pokémon Master!
I accept your challenge!” Ace happily clapped his hands.
“Great!
I’m full of motivation.
Let’s do a 1v1!
Go, my warrior, Taillow!” The boy energetically threw his Poké Ball, and a small Pokémon resembling a swallow appeared in mid-air.
Deep blue feathers covered most of its body, while its belly was pure white.
It had red feathers on its head and neck.
It had gray eyes and a yellow beak, and its claws were the same deep blue as its feathers.
It was a Taillow!
Small in stature but incredibly brave, it would courageously challenge any opponent, no matter how powerful, possessing the perseverance to never get discouraged even if it lost.

Leo was startled.
He actually developed a combo move?
Looking at the Taillow in the sky, he couldn’t help but think of Ash’s Taillow—full of backbone and fighting spirit.
He wondered how this one would fare.
Let me test it out!
“I’ll leave it to you!” The Poké Ball burst open in mid-air!
In a flash of white light, a high-spirited Mudkip appeared on the field, looking at its airborne opponent.
“Mudkip!” Ace’s eyes lit up.
“A perfect opponent!
Taillow, Focus Energy!” “Tail!” Opening its beak, it took a deep breath.
A white cyclone rose around it, and Taillow’s gaze became even sharper, its condition fully maxed out!
“Boosting stats?

Mudkip, test it with Water Gun!” Blue Water-type energy gathered in its mouth, forming a water column that shot toward the sky.
Taillow flapped its wings and easily dodged.

Then bring it down with Rock Throw!” “Mudkip~!” An invisible soundwave emanated from Mudkip’s body, washing over Taillow.
Its figure stalled in mid-air, its speed slightly dropping.
Still, relying on momentum, it crashed into Mudkip, forcing the Mud Fish Pokémon back in pain!
Gritting its teeth, Mudkip slapped its hands and tail against the ground, sending shattered stones flying toward its opponent, barely executing the move.
“Low!” Taillow stumbled as it glided, forcefully stabilizing its form.
It beat its wings to fly high up, but was still grazed on one wing by the numerous flying rocks, crying out in pain.
After all, although it was only a Water-type, its Rock-type move was super effective against Flying-types, so the damage was considerable.
It was just a pity the confusion effect didn’t trigger.

Taillow, Hurricane Wing!” Naturally, Ace wouldn’t miss this opportunity, fully utilizing Taillow’s speed to attack the helpless, mid-air Mudkip.

Taillow’s body flashed with white light.
Both wings became coated in Flying-type energy, slashing down like sharp blades!
It rapidly crashed into Mudkip!

Unable to maintain its balance or properly control its Water-type energy, Mudkip, who hadn’t even managed to unleash its Water Gun, took the full brunt of the attack.
It shrieked and crashed to the ground!
The Hurricane gradually dissipated.
“Mudkip!
Can you still fight?” Taking out the Luxury Ball, Leo wanted to recall it.
“Mudkip~!” Panting heavily, it barely supported its body.
Although it had no type disadvantage, the combo attack of two major physical moves had still dealt massive damage to Mudkip.
The little fellow looked up at the enemy in the sky, its eyes filled with unwavering determination.
It nodded to Leo, its meaning clear without words.
It was rare to see such fighting spirit from Mudkip, completely different from when it faced Breloom.
This was growth!

It stopped flapping its wings and used the combo move again, diving rapidly toward the ground.
“Hold on, Mudkip!
Wait for the opportunity!” Signaling it to hold steady, Leo waited for that chance, a perfect opportunity!
The Hurricane gradually weakened, and Taillow was about to hit!
Now!
His eyes flashed brightly.
“Mudkip, unleash it!
Use a max-power Rock Throw with both arms!” “What?” Ace cried out in shock.
“Stop, Taillow!
Ascend!” “Too late to give it back to you now!” “Mudkip!!!” With both arms still plunged into the ground, a blue water current suddenly surged from Mudkip’s entire body, enveloping it completely.
Its momentum suddenly spiked!
Just in time!
It’s the Ability, Torrent!
When its HP was low, the power of Water-type moves increased.
Although it didn’t boost Rock-type moves, recovering stamina meant Mudkip’s physical strength would also partially recover!
“Mudkip!” Its arms violently ripped out of the ground!

A shattering sound rang out.
Along with its arms, a massive boulder was lifted from the earth!
With all its might, the little fellow hurled it straight at Taillow, who had arrived right in front of it!!

“Taillow!!!” Shattered rocks flew in all directions!
Taillow let out a miserable cry!

The acceleration from diving down, combined with the immense brute force unleashed after recovering stamina!
A 2x super-effective Rock-type strike!
