Volume 1 Chapter 10 Possessiveness Running Wild
The moment Song Jingmian pulled out the ring, Qiqi knew something was up.
Sure enough, the next second, she heard that slow, deliberate voice utter the most infuriating words.
When the young man saw the massive pigeon-egg-sized diamond ring she flashed, his eyes widened in shock, his expression turning utterly ashamed. He stood frozen for a long moment before hurriedly apologizing.
“Um… s-sorry about that, I’ll be going now!”
With that, he scurried away like a gust of wind.
Once the guy was a safe distance away, Qiqi finally couldn’t hold back her laughter.
“Hahahahahahahaha.”
Song Jingmian slowly lifted her gaze to look at her. “Is it that funny?”
“N-no, it’s not that,” Qiqi laughed so hard she could barely stand straight. “You should’ve seen his expression, hahahaha.”
Song Jingmian was also infected by her laughter. “Well, I had to make the rejection clear, didn’t I?”
“True,” Qiqi propped her head on her hand. “But with the way you look, no one’s first impression would be that you’re already married.”
Song Jingmian extended her hand again, examining it carefully. “That’s why I brought the tool with me.”
After a long pause, Qiqi managed to squeeze out one word: “Impressive.”
“Xiao Zhang.” The man’s voice was slightly hoarse.
After several days on a business trip, he hadn’t rested well for quite some time.
Working so relentlessly was all just to compress his schedule and return home to see his wife.
“Yes, President.”
“What time is the flight booked for?” Bo Jingci asked.
“Ten o’clock tomorrow morning.”
Hearing this, Bo Jingci frowned. “Change it.”
“I’m going back tonight.”
Xiao Zhang sounded concerned. “But you’ve been working nonstop for so long. You should rest properly first. It’s fine to go back tomorrow.”
Xiao Zhang was not only his subordinate but had also been with him for a long time. He knew full well that he should just follow the president’s orders, but he couldn’t help adding one more remark.
“Don’t make me repeat myself.”
Perhaps too exhausted, Bo Jingci fell asleep on the plane. It wasn’t until after landing that he noticed several messages had come in on his phone.
Frowning, he tapped to open them.
The moment he saw the photo, his heart clenched. Then, his eyes narrowed slightly, his lips pressed tightly together, and he stared coldly at the scene on his phone.
“Xiao Zhang, to Dark Surge.”
By the time they were done, Qiqi was already slumped over from drinking.
Since it was just the two of them at the bar, for safety’s sake, someone had to stay sober.
Qiqi talked a lot when drunk, basically chattering nonstop. Fortunately, after all these years, Song Jingmian was used to it.
“Such poor drinking manners, yet so fond of alcohol,” she shook her head helplessly.
Just as Song Jingmian was about to hail a cab to send Qiqi back first, a low-key yet luxurious Maybach suddenly pulled up in front of her.
The audacious license plate number—Song Jingmian had only seen it once before. Her eyes widened in disbelief, as if she were dreaming.
Then, the car door opened. The man stepped out with long strides, walking urgently toward her. Each step he took seemed to land right on her heart.
He loosened his wristwatch slightly. The impeccably tailored suit accentuated his tall, slender figure and powerful presence. As he approached, the temperature around them seemed to drop a few degrees.
Without another word, he pulled her into his embrace, while Qiqi, who had been in her arms, was now supported by Xiao Zhang.
“Come home with me,” his voice was somewhat cold, yet his tone was resolute.
“Ah, but Qiqi…” She didn’t pull away from him, instead gently patting his back to soothe him.
“Gu Tingyu is behind us. He’ll take your friend home.” His voice left no room for argument.
Then he led her to the car.
He looked somewhat weary, with heavy dark circles under his eyes. Dressed in a full suit, he must have come straight to pick her up as soon as he returned from his business trip.
She had texted him earlier today saying she was coming here and even sent him the location, but he hadn’t replied.
At the time, she thought he must be very busy.
“Why are you back already?”
The man still held her hand tightly, his expression cold and gloomy, the corners of his eyes slightly reddened. He kept a stern face, lost in thought.
Looking more closely, she noticed his chest rising and falling irregularly, his face somewhat flushed—clearly suppressing something.
Song Jingmian’s heart skipped a beat. Was he starting to have an episode?
She quickly grasped the hand that was holding hers, looked up at him, and worry unconsciously showed in her eyes.
“You… what’s wrong? Are you okay?” As soon as she finished speaking, the man suddenly leaned in, cupped the back of her head, and a scorching kiss overwhelmed her.
“Mmm…”
Song Jingmian was startled by his sudden move and froze, not reacting.
The man kissed her fiercely, his fiery lips sweeping over hers again and again. In the quiet car, only the sounds of their kissing mingled, filling the air with an ambiguous tension.
When they finally stopped, Song Jingmian’s lips were numb, and it seemed like the skin had been scraped—it hurt a little.
Damn man.
She cursed him silently in her heart.
The man pressed his forehead against hers, his chest heaving in waves. His voice was hoarse and terrifying as he whispered her name, tender and lingering.
“Mianmian…”
With their foreheads touching, Song Jingmian’s hands had somehow found their way around his neck.
She was now straddling him.
The position was extremely intimate.
Aside from that one time she had acted impulsively and recklessly, she had never been this close to him before. Moreover, they had just kissed, and in this position, his reaction was unmistakably obvious.
She turned her head away, not daring to look at him, her ears and face burning red.
Though embarrassed, she didn’t pull away from him.
When he was having an episode, the most important thing was to soothe him.
She leaned in closer, wrapped her arms around him, and unconsciously stroked the back of his head. “I’m here, I’ve always been here.”
Her voice was gentle and sweet, giving him reassurance.
Gradually, the man’s breathing steadied.
During this time, Song Jingmian also began to piece things together. She had been wondering why he had suddenly returned, and why he looked so strange and stern when he arrived—clearly a sign of anger.
Plus, he had just mentioned that Gu Tingyu was behind her, and everything clicked into place.
It must have been that he was still away on a business trip, already missing her for a long time, and then Gu Tingyu probably saw her at the bar and noticed a few guys hitting on her. Given his obsessive possessiveness, it made sense that he would be this angry.
Seeing him gradually calm down, she spoke in her gentle voice.
“Are you jealous?”
The man tightened his arms around her slightly but said nothing.
Song Jingmian continued, “I only came out to have fun with Qiqi today. I clearly rejected anyone who tried to hit on me.”
With that, she pulled away from his embrace.
Then she raised her hand in front of him, smiling brightly as she said, “See? The big diamond ring you gave me—I’ve been wearing it all along.”
“I’ve used it to turn them all down.”
She smiled. “So, are you still jealous now?”
From the moment she held him and softly asked him, he felt himself melting. Facing those gentle and beautiful eyes, how could he possibly hold onto any anger?
He couldn’t deny it—the moment he saw the photo, his possessiveness surged, threatening to burst from his chest. Reason told him to stay calm, but he simply couldn’t.
Yet, as soon as he heard her voice, he inexplicably settled down.
He buried his face in the crook of her neck, holding her tightly, his voice hoarse and muffled. “Not anymore.”
He thought to himself, she was his only antidote.
