Volume 1 Chapter 13: The Incident Back Then

After finishing Director Jiang’s film “Home,” she received many scripts.

Among them was one that both she and Sister Sun took a liking to and thought was quite good, so they planned to accept it.Full novel: Possessed Kiss! Clinging Hug! Husband Kisses, Hugs, and Lifts Me High! — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

After all, it was a rare opportunity, but things didn’t go as planned.

Before the TV series began filming, the production team held a banquet, attended by everyone of some standing in the crew.

At that time, she was just starting out and knew nothing, especially since she was only sixteen.

When Sister Sun brought her through the door, a portly man closest to her squinted his eyes, his expression filled with undisguised admiration.

But there was no appreciation in his gaze—only blatant infatuation and greed. That look was deeply unsettling.

At first, she didn’t pay it much mind and was about to take a seat across from him when the producer suddenly spoke up.

“So this is Jingmian?” he said, slightly tipsy, his lecherous eyes scanning her. “Come, sit over here.”

She had intended to sit across from him, but unexpectedly, someone else took that seat. Under the subtle gazes from all around, she walked over and sat down beside him.

She subtly shifted away from him.

The producer continued to eye her, his tone suggestive. “Jingmian is only sixteen, right?”

He chuckled lewdly. “No wonder she became so popular after her first role—she’s so fresh.”

“I wonder if she’s just as inexperienced in certain other ways.”

After saying this, he laughed with a particularly vulgar expression.

He made no effort to hide his crude remarks, while those around pretended not to understand, turning a blind eye. Some could only force awkward smiles.

She was young, but she wasn’t completely naive. Hearing such words at such a tender age, she couldn’t yet mask her expressions and immediately frowned, moving even farther away from him.

The man noticed her reaction, and his eyes suddenly turned cold. He leaned in closer, his breath reeking of alcohol, making her expression twist further.

“Truly inexperienced…” he murmured, his gaze lingering on her with infatuation. Then, he leaned even closer. “But you really don’t know how to behave.”

He quickly motioned for someone standing nearby to pour a glass of wine and handed it to her. “Drink this as an apology to me.”

She knew the entertainment industry was often chaotic, but during her time on the set of “Home,” no one had ever acted like this. Yet, not long after, she found herself in such a situation.

She bit her lip, her face pale with cold anger. No matter how composed she tried to be, she was still just a sixteen-year-old girl.

Her temper flared.

The atmosphere suddenly grew tense. Sister Sun sensed something was wrong and immediately stepped over, offering a placating smile. “It’s her first time in such a setting—she’s naturally a bit scared and unsure. Let me drink this glass for her.”

With that, she reached for the glass.

But the producer raised a hand to stop her. “A young girl may not know how to behave, but she must learn. Isn’t this a perfect opportunity?”

After speaking, he burst into loud laughter, glancing around at the others. “Don’t you all agree? Hahaha!”

Everyone looked at her with pity. Though they despised his behavior, his powerful backing made it impossible for them to step in and protect her.

The only thing they could do was pretend not to see or hear, protecting themselves.

“Ah, yes!” Seeing the tense atmosphere, everyone could only echo in agreement.

No one dared to offend him.

Such incidents were already commonplace in the industry.

He personally handed the glass of wine to her, still wearing that lecherous smile: “Drink up, Miss Song.”

As he spoke, his right hand had already unconsciously reached toward her thigh. The moment his hand touched her, she shuddered all over.

Just as he was about to push further, moving toward the inside of her thigh, no one expected the girl who had been quiet and silent since entering the room to suddenly stand up. She casually grabbed a wine bottle from the table, then turned around and, with swift, precise, and ruthless movements, smashed it directly onto the producer’s head.

The scene immediately descended into chaos.

From then on, she began to be blacklisted, followed by a flood of rumors online, claiming that she had landed such a good script for her first acting role and even played the second female lead.

If she hadn’t done something, how could she have succeeded so quickly? How could someone with no status or background rise to fame so fast?

The rumors followed: being kept by someone… climbing into a capitalist’s bed by any means necessary… seducing others at such a young age…

She knew all of this was the producer’s doing.

After recounting everything, Song Jingmian’s eyes were slightly red, filled with a hint of resentment.

“What, do you also want to destroy me like he did, for the things I fought so desperately to achieve?”

As she spoke, tears unconsciously slid from the corners of her eyes, making her look pitiful yet resilient.

For so many years, she had thought she could calmly narrate all of this, but in the end, she realized she still couldn’t.

After hearing everything she said and seeing her reddened eyes, Bo Jingci’s heart ached with a sharp pang.

He rarely paid attention to online matters, and when he found her, he had no idea about these events.

Driven by a deeply etched memory, he had searched for her for many years, but she had vanished without a trace.

He had looked for her for a very, very long time without success.

By chance, he returned to the country for business related to his corporation.

At the time, the Bai family was hosting a banquet, and he was an invited guest. He also had collaborations with the Bai family, though he had never been interested in such events.

However, the project between the Bo and Bai families was significant, and as the head of the corporation, it was only right for him to attend.

But that day, for some reason, as the banquet approached, he suddenly felt uneasy and restless.

An inexplicable emotion gripped his heart, and for some reason, he couldn’t calm down all afternoon.

It wasn’t until he arrived that he discovered the Bai family had finally found their long-lost daughter. Overjoyed, the Bai parents had specially organized this banquet.

It was then, on the large screen, that he saw her as a child. His chest tightened, and when he saw her, his body trembled involuntarily, his gaze fixed intently on her.

Finally, he understood where the heaviness in his heart had come from. He didn’t believe in fate, but that day, he believed that encountering her unexpectedly was a gift from heaven.

As a child, in his dark and decaying life, she had been his ray of light.

Someone accustomed to darkness would greedily cling to any sudden warmth that appeared.

He was determined to keep her by his side, never to leave him.

Unfortunately, it seemed she no longer remembered him.

Now, seeing her stubborn gaze, he felt as if he were seeing the girl from back then.

A heavy, sour ache welled up in his chest. When he heard that the producer had tried to assault her, veins bulged on his forehead, and his eyes filled with a bloodthirsty ferocity.

His chest heaved uncontrollably. He hated himself for not finding her sooner, for letting her suffer so much needlessly.

Now, with her cold gaze fixed on him, asking, “Are you going to destroy me too, just like him?”—he felt like nothing but a scoundrel.
