Volume 1 Chapter 15: Is That a Patek Philippe on Your Wrist, Sis? Nice Watch!
After arranging a meeting place with Sister Sun, Song Jingmian tidied herself up briefly, grabbed her bag, and headed out.
When she arrived at the café, Song Jingmian spotted the woman sitting by the window at first glance.
“Sister Sun,” she called out as she walked over.
Sister Sun turned around, and her eyes lit up the moment she saw her.
“Jingmian.”
Seeing Sister Sun stand up, Song Jingmian couldn’t help but step forward and give her a hug.
“It’s been a long time.”
After saying this, both of their eyes grew slightly red.
They sat down and chatted about everything from the past to the present, even envisioning the future together.
Suddenly remembering something, Sister Sun grinned playfully. “Jingmian, that man you mentioned on the phone last time…”
“He’s my husband,” she replied, a smile spreading across her face.
Seeing her so happy, Sister Sun felt reassured.
“How does he treat you?”
“Very well,” she answered without hesitation.
Objectively speaking, he truly treated her well, almost granting her every wish. In their three years of marriage in her previous life, aside from being overly possessive and somewhat obsessive, he had indeed been very good to her.
Knowing she disliked him and didn’t want to be around him, he kept her firmly by his side.
But in those three years, he never forced himself on her. Sometimes, he didn’t even dare to touch her because she would react extremely when facing him.
Perhaps, in a way, they were both the same kind of people.
“That’s good.”
Sister Sun smiled with relief. She didn’t want the things that had happened in the past to extinguish Song Jingmian’s hope for life.
“What about what comes after?” Sister Sun asked.
“No rush,” Song Jingmian replied, her gaze turning slightly cold.
“Let’s deal with that scumbag first.”
“Jingmian, you…” Sister Sun looked at her in disbelief, her eyes wide.
“Sister Sun, I have my ways. I just need your help.”
Seeing the determination in her eyes, Sister Sun felt that all these years of waiting had been worthwhile. From the moment she first laid eyes on Song Jingmian, she knew she was destined for greatness.
It was only a matter of time.
And the facts proved her right.
But no one could have predicted that incident would happen along the way.
“Alright, I’ll help however I can.”
After finishing her conversation with Sister Sun, Song Jingmian prepared to leave. Sister Sun had to go home to take care of her child.
After parting ways, Song Jingmian noticed it was still early and decided to visit a shopping mall to buy something for Bo Jingci.
Every time he went on a business trip, he brought her gifts. As his wife, how could she not return the favor?
Love is a two-way street.
Most of what she was wearing today had been bought by Bo Jingci, especially the bag—a recent gift from his business trip. It was her favorite shade of rose pink, elegant and tasteful.
It was the latest handbag from Shehappy.
As soon as she entered the store in her outfit, she immediately caught the attention of the sales assistant.
It had to be said, everyone knew quality when they saw it. When a wealthy, elegant beauty walked in, they wasted no time offering their services.
“Hello, miss. How may I assist you today?”
Song Jingmian adjusted her sunglasses and shook her head. “I’m just browsing.”
“No need for introductions.”
The sales assistant tactfully stepped aside.
She wandered aimlessly, not finding anything that caught her eye at first glance. Feeling a bit disinterested, she was about to turn and leave when suddenly, her gaze was drawn to a necktie.
It was a navy blue striped tie, simple and elegant in style. Suddenly, an image of his fair skin and slender neck flashed through her mind.
She had never seen him wear a tie of this color before, but the moment she laid eyes on it, she inexplicably felt it suited him.
She gestured to the sales assistant, “This one looks good.”
As she spoke, the sales assistant reached out to take it.
At that moment, a slightly sharp female voice rang out.
“Hey, miss, we already have our eyes on that.”
Song Jingmian frowned, lifting her gaze with a hint of displeasure.
As soon as she saw who it was, her eyes behind the sunglasses curved unmistakably.
The corners of her mouth also lifted involuntarily.
What a coincidence, dear sister—coming right to my doorstep.
Standing behind her were two women. One was her so-called “dear sister,” Bai Sisi, while the other was unfamiliar, likely a friend or follower.
She curled her lips and said coldly, “Since when did it become yours?”
The follower replied with an air of entitlement, “Just now.”
She had been with Bai Sisi earlier and heard that the Bai family would be inviting Bo Jingci over in a couple of days, so she wanted to prepare a gift for him.
They hadn’t been browsing for long when she spotted this tie and was about to ask the sales assistant for it, only to find another woman had already claimed it.
Eager to show off in front of Bai Sisi, she immediately acted as though she had had her eye on the tie all along.
Hearing this, Song Jingmian scoffed, “Oh, so what?”
“None of your damn business.”
“You!” The follower flushed with anger.
Just as she spoke, the woman beside her, dressed in a cute white dress like a pristine flower, had already recognized her.
Song Jingmian sneered inwardly—wasn’t this a textbook white lotus?
Blooming so ostentatiously, with a green leaf by her side.
“Sister,” Bai Sisi quickly pulled the follower beside her and stepped forward, calling out cautiously.
Damn it, she had been fooled by this exact act in her past life—such a clever trick.
Song Jingmian lowered her sunglasses halfway, scanning Bai Sisi from head to toe before stopping at her wrist.
“Are you wearing a Patek Philippe today, sister?”
Bai Sisi widened her innocent eyes, then nodded innocently, “Ah, yes, I am.”
Hearing this, Song Jingmian suppressed a laugh and pushed her sunglasses back up.
“What a fine watch.”
With that, she ignored the reactions of the flower and her green leaf, instructed the sales assistant to wrap up the item, and turned to leave the store.
Just as she was about to walk away, the follower’s voice sounded from behind again.
“Sister, you’re Sisi’s sister, right?”
Song Jingmian had no intention of responding, but thinking she had nothing better to do today, she decided to play along for a while.
“Stop,” she raised her hand in a gesture, “I don’t have a sister like you. Don’t call me sister—it’s disgusting.”
The follower hadn’t expected her to be so blunt, saying such things in public.
She had heard about the Bai family’s affairs and knew that Song Jingmian had only recently been brought back to the Bai family. Now, she was already putting on airs.
Moreover, she was being used as a tool to salvage the family’s crisis—her parents hadn’t even been willing to let Bai Sisi enter into a marriage alliance.
This showed that her status wasn’t all that high.
Besides, Bai Sisi was right there.
The follower only knew the surface of things, unaware that Bai Sisi was actually adopted—something Song Jingmian had only learned shortly after returning to the Bai family.
“This tie was meant to be a gift from Sisi. Don’t you think what you’re doing is a bit too much?”
“Doing what?”
Song Jingmian seemed to recall something and leaned closer to Bai Sisi.
“Oh~ So you were planning to buy a gift for my husband?”
She had just received a call from her parents a couple of days ago, saying she hadn’t been home in a long time and asking her to bring Bo Jingci back for a visit.
“No need to trouble yourself with that. I’ll take care of my husband myself.”
Bai Sisi hadn’t expected that after not seeing Song Jingmian for a while, she would become so sharp-tongued and even harbor such inexplicable hostility toward her.
But Bai Sisi still had to maintain appearances. She lowered her head, feigning hurt, and said, “Sister, if that’s the case, I’ll just pick something else.”
Song Jingmian scoffed. “I remember you just signed with a talent agency, didn’t you?”
Bai Sisi didn’t understand why the topic had shifted so abruptly, but she instinctively replied, “Yes, sister.”
With a meaningful look and a tone laced with mock confusion, Song Jingmian asked, “Which company did you sign with?”
Before Bai Sisi could answer, she curled her lips and answered her own question.
“Must be quite the acting agency, huh?”
