Before, that is, before she signed the divorce agreement, Ruan Zhe was strictly professional and always called him “husband.”

Ruan Zhe: “……”

After all, back then their relationship was purely contractual husband-and-wife. Their daily conversations were like “Husband, hello” and “Husband, goodbye.” Now they were about to divorce, and this man was essentially her soon-to-be ex-husband.

Then she saw Fu Yinli lower his gaze slightly, as if a bit hurt: “I’ll go up front. You get some good sleep.”

With that, he walked into the driver’s area.

Ruan Zhe: Why do I feel a little guilty?

But she didn’t stay guilty for long before falling into a deep sleep. Everything had happened too quickly, and both her mind and body were exhausted.

Fu Yinli sat in the driver’s seat, curling his legs up. The seat was too short for him. He leaned back against it and stared out at the darkness outside the window.

At around two in the morning, thunder and lightning struck, and the rain suddenly grew heavier. Ruan Zhe’s alarm also went off.

She immediately sat up, got dressed, and said, “Fu Yinli, it’s your turn to sleep.”

Fu Yinli gave a soft “mm” without refusing. Keeping their energy up was good for both of them.

Was he angry? Ruan Zhe couldn’t tell. He was the icy CEO type anyway—who could read whether a block of ice was happy or not?

Aside from the rain growing heavier through the night, nothing else happened. Inside the RV, only the dashboard lights were on. Everything else was off, or it would have been too visible in the dark—even though this was a service area where there probably wouldn’t be many people.

She took out her phone and checked it. The signal was intermittent, but she could see people online discussing how official rescue operations had already begun and everyone was trying to save themselves.

Then, just before dawn, Fu Yinli—who had only slept about four hours—got up and took the initiative to prepare breakfast.

Meanwhile, Ruan Zhe put on a raincoat and got off the vehicle to inspect the RV’s air intake and exhaust pipe. After a night of rising water levels, if water had gotten in, the engine would be ruined.

She also checked the RV’s electrical system. She had studied it in advance for this trip and carefully went through everything step by step to feel at ease.

Fortunately, there were no problems. There wasn’t much muddy water nearby either, so they didn’t need to worry about the tires getting stuck.

The rain had lightened. It had gone from someone pouring buckets from the sky to a gentle shower like a sprinkler.

Ruan Zhe got back on the RV and saw that in just a short time, Fu Yinli had fried two eggs, made sandwiches, and warmed up oatmeal milk.

Everything was neatly arranged on plates. Even in the apocalypse, this guy was still so meticulous. If it were her, she would’ve just scrambled everything together and eaten it.

But she wasn’t the type to complain about food someone else prepared. She never ruined the mood. She picked up a sandwich, took a small bite, and sincerely said, “Husband, you’re amazing at everything. You’re great at work, and you’re also so good at cooking~”

Since he liked being called “husband,” she didn’t mind using it like before. Especially considering he was handsome, strong, and could cook—she didn’t really see it as anything different from calling someone boss or manager.

She was usually soft-spoken and didn’t talk much. Even now, her voice was gentle and calm, especially when she said “husband,” which made him…

Fu Yinli coughed lightly and said while eating, “Let’s plan what we do next.”

“We need to gather supplies. We don’t know what things will be like in the future, but the more we have, the better,” Ruan Zhe said without hesitation. In the later stages, supplies would become extremely hard to get. Since they had an RV, they should take advantage of the lighter rain and stock up quickly.

Not to mention food, water, and daily necessities—even seeds were necessary if they wanted to plant vegetables in the farm.

After eating and cleaning up, Fu Yinli took over driving today. They were randomly placed on the map, and could only roughly determine their location—far from City A, along a highway with several small towns nearby.

That’s exactly how those old-school CEO novels were set up!

No need to doubt it—the city they were in was City A. And there were also H City and B City. Ever since she entered this world, she hadn’t even left City A!

Who would’ve thought that even in the apocalypse, she’d get to see the wider world beyond the novel’s descriptions?

They couldn’t just stay in place and wait for danger. If nothing ever came, they’d starve before even reaching the farm, relying only on what they had in the vehicle.

Also, the RV’s water supply needed to be replenished.

Now Fu Yinli was driving along a not-too-damaged highway, at a steady pace. Occasionally there were scattered zombies, but neither of them paid them any attention and simply drove past.

Behind him, Ruan Zhe observed their surroundings while recording the condition of the RV and the farm in a small notebook for future reference.

RV: 【Countdown: 2 hours 5 minutes (method to extend unknown)】

Farm: 【Crops: (can be planted when time is up) Currently available: potatoes, eggplant, chili peppers】

Mm… that was all she could record for now. She simply didn’t know enough yet due to limited time in the farm space.

What exactly would allow her to extend her time inside the farm?

She didn’t expect that opportunity to come so soon.

The road conditions were terrible. The earthquake had cracked and warped the highway in many places. The windshield wipers squeaked as they cleared the rain, and the RV rocked back and forth, making supplies inside clatter loudly.

They had already driven six hours, passing two service areas. Since some places couldn’t be stopped at, they managed to stock up on more fuel and even cleared out as much of the service area convenience stores as possible.

“Poor my dear little car,” Ruan Zhe said as she packed their used clothes into a laundry basket, sitting in the passenger seat with a sigh. She didn’t even feel like wasting RV water to wash them—it wouldn’t dry in this weather anyway.

Fu Yinli glanced at her. She actually sounded quite sentimental.

He chuckled softly but didn’t respond, because buildings were already starting to appear by the roadside—collapsed power poles, half-destroyed houses, overturned vehicles rusting in flooded water.

They became alert. This was a small town, meaning there could be people—or zombies.

When you actually face zombies, you realize it’s not like in movies where one person can dominate everything. When they rush at you in swarms, most people’s legs would go weak just seeing them.

“Let’s slow down and park somewhere hidden,” she said. The difficult part was that only she could open the RV, but she couldn’t stop others from breaking in.

But they still needed supplies. Fu Yinli alone couldn’t handle everything—they both needed to learn how to do it.

They slowly moved along the edge of the town. Whenever they found houses, they took turns going in to search for supplies, but unfortunately, there was almost nothing left.

Then Ruan Zhe heard it—a faint, intermittent crying sound coming from a half-collapsed house on their right. It was eerie.

“Fu Yinli, did you hear that?” she asked. She could accept zombies, but ghosts were something else entirely—that would be terrifying.

The car didn’t stop, nor did it slow. Fu Yinli asked, “Man or woman? Elderly or child?”
