“Re-recruitment? Hiring?”

Su Su’s unveiling of something new immediately drew the eyes of everyone in the lobby. Even Luo Shaoran and her group, who hadn’t left yet, squeezed their way over.

They read the advertisement from top to bottom and discovered it was actually a recruitment poster!Full novel: Post-Apocalyptic Sea Survival: Managing a Lighthouse Resort — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Ground Level Hotel is now hiring two employees:

One Bathhouse Manager

One Hotel Cleaner

Salary: 1,000 points per month.

Benefits: Room and board included.

For specific details, please contact the Hotel Boss for a private discussion.

Gasps of surprise immediately rippled through the crowd.

Many people began to wonder if they could be selected. While a salary of 1,000 points wasn’t considered high—any ability user could easily earn that amount in a month—the true draw was the “room and board” mentioned at the end.

Since the onset of the marine apocalypse, the most pressing concern for everyone living in this world was whether they could safely survive the night.

Bloodthirsty, ferocious sea monsters accompanied by rolling giant waves became the nightmare of every soul drifting at sea the moment darkness fell. No one knew what kind of monsters they would encounter in the waters they occupied at night. If one were unlucky enough to meet a high-level sea monster, even an ability user could only pray for a miracle.

Only those living in medium-to-large offshore bases could feel somewhat at ease. After all, such bases were massive enough that they wouldn’t be easily capsized, and various weapons and high-level ability users would be at the front lines whenever danger approached.

However, offshore bases—especially high-level ones—were not places you could just enter as you pleased.

Offshore bases were currently divided into seven ranks, ranging from the lowest, D-rank, to the currently non-existent SSS-rank. A D-rank base required at least one hundred permanent residents. For every rank higher, another zero was added to the required population. By the time a base reached A-rank, it was the size of a small town and required 100,000 people.

Of course, the ranking system was not that simple, but it illustrated a point: a base capable of accommodating so many people and functioning well would not be lacking in any department. Such a colossus could not be shaken even by an S-rank sea monster.

Yet, an anomaly had appeared amidst these strictly ranked offshore bases: the Hotel.

The lighthouse was small and unassuming, and its Boss was incredibly powerful and mysterious. If not for the events that had transpired today, likely no one would have believed that such a place could easily neutralize the core strength of a C-rank offshore base.

However, the most excited people in the crowd were Luo Shaoran and her team.

Unlike the newcomers today, they had already stayed at the hotel for a night and knew exactly how safe and quiet it was. That sense of peace was something they had never experienced, even while living in offshore bases.

The more densely populated an area was, the more it attracted the attention of giant sea monsters. At night, though they spent most of their time in their rooms, the constant swaying of the structures and the continuous, deafening roars made many of their nights terrifying.

From the moment Xu Qiliang died, they had decided: as long as the lighthouse didn’t disappear, they would live here forever.

“Leader, what do you think of me applying?”

Tian Wen had been restless from the moment she saw the ad. She was a foodie who spent almost all her earned points on food, making her the poorest among them. To earn points, she usually had to go out to sea, but now that she had found such a safe and reliable place, she didn’t want to leave the hotel or the lighthouse at all. Besides, after Xu Qiliang’s death, their team existed in name only; they likely wouldn’t be heading out to sea much anymore. It was better to secure her future meal ticket now.

Listening to Tian Wen’s naive words, Luo Shaoran shook her head with a definitive tone. “You won’t be chosen.”

“Why? I’m young, I’m an ability user, and I’m a hard worker. There’s no reason for the Boss to reject me!”

“It’s exactly because you’re ‘too good’ that she won’t hire you. Didn’t you see the salary? She clearly wants to hire ordinary people.”

At 1,000 points, any ability user who wasn’t completely useless would look down on that wage. The only real draw was the room and board. But given the current room and food prices at the hotel, it was already quite affordable for ability users.

It was clear that the Boss never intended to hire ability users.

Thinking of this, Luo Shaoran’s respect for Su Su deepened. If she had been won over by her overwhelming power before, she now respected her for the kindness in her humanity.

Powerful yet not a bully… just what kind of person is the Boss of this shop?

Su Su, unaware of the deep thoughts running through Luo Shaoran’s head, was currently surrounded by a crowd asking about the recruitment. These people were different from the other guests; they could face retaliation from the Xu family at any time, and their only current reliance was the Hotel Boss.

“Stop, stop, stop! Anyone wanting to ask about the hiring, come find me tomorrow during the day. For now, get that rotting corpse out of here.”

Annoyed by the pestering, Su Su waved her hand to silence everyone.

Hearing her words, the crowd realized that in their excitement, they had forgotten Xu Qiliang’s body was still sitting there. They immediately apologized and backed away from the checkout counter.

Under the woman leader’s direction, the six subordinates quickly split up. Three of them carried Xu Qiliang’s body out of the hotel, while the remaining few were responsible for cleaning up the traces he had left behind.

Once everyone was gone, Su Su finally breathed a sigh of relief.

It seemed she didn’t just need people for the bathhouse and cleaning; she also needed someone at the front desk to act as her assistant. Otherwise, if this kept up, she would work herself to death.

Having found a moment of peace, she moved her chair and sat down to calculate the points she had just earned.

She had obtained a total of 11,000 points in compensation from Xu Qiliang’s group. The others had also bought about 600 points worth of goods. Adding that to her original 1,000-plus points, she now had a total of 12,635 points in her account.

Finally, she had broken the 10,000-point milestone.

After being busy for so long, Su Su finally felt some psychological comfort. She immediately opened the Mall and started searching for sofas. She was going to pick the biggest, most luxurious one—it was only right given how long she worked every day.

While she was enthusiastically searching, the System appeared once again.

[Host, your current points have reached 10,000. You can now upgrade the Point Converter.]

“What? That thing needs an upgrade too?”

At the System’s words, Su Su shifted her gaze to the converter sitting on the counter beside her. She remembered this item was a reward for a mission; she had thought it was a finished product that didn’t need further attention.

“No thanks, I think it looks fine as it is.” After saying that, she continued browsing for sofas.

[Host, you don’t understand. The current converter can only exchange heart cores. But once upgraded, it can evaluate and convert anything of value.]

This sentence caught Su Su’s attention.

She suddenly remembered how the guests staying at the shop always looked reluctant to leave when their time was up, yet they felt they had no choice. Was it because they couldn’t exchange anything else for points?

After all, if only heart cores could be turned into points, those people would eventually have to leave to find more.

“System, how many sources of points are there in this world?”
