She went to the tool shed, picked out a shovel, and headed toward the walnut tree in the middle of the garden.

Jiang Ni remembered that, in the novel, the original owner’s mother had hidden her inheritance beneath the walnut tree.

By the light of the moon, Jiang Ni began digging.Full novel: Pregnant and Following Her Husband to the Army Base, the Cold-Faced Officer Dotes on Her Fiercely — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

After digging about twenty centimeters down, she uncovered a cloth bag.

She carefully lifted it out and brushed away the dirt. Inside was a small, square wooden box.

Jiang Ni opened the box and found a jade-green jade bracelet resting inside.

It gave off a faint, ethereal glow under the moonlight.

Jiang Ni raised an eyebrow, already having a vague idea of what the bracelet was for.

She bit her index finger, squeezed out a drop of blood, and let it fall onto the bracelet.

The halo surrounding the bracelet slowly expanded, and before Jiang Ni could react, it sucked her inside.

Just as she thought!

It was a spatial dimension!

The space was divided into three areas.

On the left was a vast stretch of black soil, covering at least a thousand mu. The earth was exceptionally fertile.

A sign stood upright in the middle of it:

Grain crops mature in half a month. Fruits and vegetables mature in three days.

In the center flowed a crystal-clear stream.

Jiang Ni took a closer look and found another sign:

Spiritual Spring Water

Effects: Enhances beauty, strengthens the body, and purifies toxins and waste from the body.

This was quite incredible!

Jiang Ni scooped up some of the water and took a sip. Instantly, she felt as though every pore on her body had begun breathing. Her entire body felt noticeably lighter and more refreshed!

She looked toward the right.

There was a storage area filled with boxes upon boxes of supplies. They must have been things her biological mother had stockpiled in the past.

Jiang Ni opened one of the boxes and found nothing but high-quality fabrics, porcelain, famous paintings, jewelry, silver coins, and even some precious traditional Chinese medicines that had long since been lost to history.

Jiang Ni couldn’t help but sigh.

No wonder Gao Minglang and the others in the novel had lived such carefree, extravagant lives using the inheritance that belonged to her.

The things stored here were enough to squander for several lifetimes!

However, there was no food stored in the space.

Jiang Ni thought about it for a moment.

Perhaps her biological mother had never imagined that the people of her family would ever have to worry about having enough food to eat.

That was why everything she had stored was of collector’s quality.

After putting the bracelet away, Jiang Ni filled the hole back up with the dirt and carefully restored the ground to its original appearance.

Once she returned inside the house, she looked around at everything in every corner.

The redwood furniture, porcelain vases, gramophone, famous paintings hanging on the walls—every single piece was tasteful and refined. They had all been personally selected and purchased by her mother.

She put every last one of them into the space!

Next, she went to Liu Xingde’s room.

Hanging above the headboard was a wedding photograph of Jiang Yuan and Gao Xiuli.

Hah!

Liu Xingde had used her mother’s money to have this wedding photograph taken.

Even the qipao Gao Xiuli was wearing had been made from private clothing her mother had collected during her lifetime!

Jiang Ni took the framed photograph down and casually tossed it onto the floor.

With a sharp crack, the glass shattered, splitting the wedding photograph in two.

She opened the wardrobe.

Inside the safe was a three-tiered collection of jewelry, glittering so brightly that it nearly blinded her.

These belonged to her mother too!

Into the space they went!

Jiang Ni then went to Gao Mengmeng’s room.

The imported copper mirror, dressing table, and little Western-style dresses hanging in the wardrobe—all of them should have been hers!

Clear it all out!

Finally, she returned to her own room.

Jiang Ni pulled open a drawer and found a stack of envelopes inside.

There were letters the original owner had written to the male lead, Fu Ruichen, asking for a divorce, as well as Fu Ruichen’s replies.

But the more Jiang Ni read, the more she sucked in a breath.

The original owner had really been too willful!

In her letters, she not only launched personal attacks against Fu Ruichen, calling him things like a blockhead and accusing him of being crude and ill-mannered, but she also spared none of his family.

She had bluntly stated that Fu Ruichen’s family had been sent away and that their downfall had dragged her down with them.

After finishing the letters, Jiang Ni came to a conclusion.

The reason the male lead had ultimately agreed to the divorce in the novel was probably because he had already become completely disappointed in the original owner.

If that was the case, getting herself attached to the army and holding on to Fu Ruichen’s powerful connection might prove rather difficult.

But that still couldn’t shake her determination to follow him into the army!

After moving everything in the room into her space, Jiang Ni turned around.

She had barely filled a small corner.

It seemed that the space had unlimited capacity.

As for everything else, she could buy it after she found Fu Ruichen.

The villa was now completely empty.

Jiang Ni dusted off her hands with satisfaction.

Before leaving Haishi, she had to make a trip to her maternal grandfather’s family and reclaim this villa from the Jiang family.

Jiang Ni spent six hours on the train before arriving in Qing City in the northwest. From there, she took a one-hour ox cart ride and finally reached Sui County in the late afternoon.

Sui County was where Fu Ruichen’s military unit was stationed.

Jiang Ni walked up to the entrance of the military compound and took out the letter of introduction she had found in the drawer the night before.

“Hello, Comrade. I’m here to see my husband, Fu Ruichen. This is my letter of introduction and my identification.”

The guard looked at the woman standing before him, and his eyes widened.

Jiang Ni’s long black hair cascaded over her shoulders like a waterfall. Her fair, oval face was framed by willow-shaped brows and almond-shaped eyes. She had a high, delicate nose and cherry-red lips. Even the wound at her temple did nothing to diminish her beauty.

She stood there with a slender, straight figure.

She wore a white silk blouse with a turned-down collar, a narrow strip of lace sewn around the cuffs, and a thin red leather belt around her waist that accentuated her curves. Below that was a red-and-blue plaid skirt, its hem fluttering gently in the breeze.

She looked like a movie star straight out of a calendar.

This stunning woman was the Regiment Commander Fu’s wife?!

The sentry quickly snapped back to reality. He took the documents from her, glanced through them, then turned to Jiang Ni.

“Comrade, please wait a moment.”

It wasn’t long before the guard returned with a soldier dressed in a crisp military uniform.

The soldier looked young, probably not even twenty, with dark, sun-tanned skin.

The moment he saw Jiang Ni, he froze for a second before awkwardly greeting her.

“Hello, Sister-in-law.”

“Hello.”

The young man’s face flushed slightly.

“I’m Fu Regiment Commander’s orderly. My name is Zhang Zhiqi. You can just call me Zhiqi.”

“Commander Fu is still in training. I’ll take you to the family compound to get settled first.”

Jiang Ni smiled.

“All right. Thank you.”

Zhang Zhiqi got into a military jeep and drove Jiang Ni farther into the base.

After making several turns, they stopped in front of a row of single-story houses.

“Sister-in-law, we’re here.”

Jiang Ni got out of the vehicle.

The house in front of her wasn’t as run-down as she had imagined.

It couldn’t compare to the grandeur of the provincial capital, but it certainly wasn’t made of mud either. The walls were built of red brick and cement, while the roof was covered with gray-green tiles. The row of houses looked neat and clean.

Zhang Zhiqi handed Jiang Ni a set of keys.

“Sister-in-law, Commander Fu said he’ll come back after training. I’ll be going now.”

Jiang Ni reached into her pocket and pulled out a handful of White Rabbit candies.

“I didn’t bring much with me. Here, have some candy.”

White Rabbit candies were incredibly expensive in this era.

Sister-in-law was far too generous!

Zhang Zhiqi’s face reddened again.

“Thank you, Sister-in-law.”

Jiang Ni unlocked the door and entered the courtyard.

The courtyard covered roughly one hundred square meters.

A pathway covered with cinders ran through the middle, with weeds growing thickly on either side as though no one had bothered to maintain them.

On the western side stood a tree about two meters tall, and beneath it was a well.

Jiang Ni stood there for a while, taking it all in.

In her previous life, she had lived in towering apartment buildings in the city, surrounded by cold steel and concrete every day.

Not to mention that when the Chinese people’s innate connection to the land eventually awakened, she wouldn’t even have had anywhere to grow vegetables.

But this place was wonderful!

Under her feet was real earth. With a little work, she could plant whatever vegetables she wanted to eat, as well as beautiful flowers.

Jiang Ni suddenly felt as though she were living in a villa with a spacious courtyard back in her former world.

The house before her might not have been as luxurious as a villa, but the surrounding environment was fresh, the air was clean, and there was none of the exhaust pollution or urban noise she had been accustomed to.

The thought put Jiang Ni in an even better mood.

She walked over and pushed open the door to the house.

The furnishings inside were simple.
