Seeing her eldest sister’s expression, Chen Lingling froze for a moment.

“Exactly, exactly,” Chen Pansheng chimed in with a grin. “Let him get lost! Let him get lost! We’ll just find someone even better!”

Chen Jing smiled and nodded.Full novel: Pregnant and Unstoppable: She Stunned Everyone in the Military Compound — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Watching this scene, Chen Lingling fell into deep thought.

…

…

Song Jinyue and Song Xiongguan, who had been taken away, were locked inside a dilapidated room, guarded from the outside.

Song Jinyue and her elder brother each sat in a corner, staring at each other.

She simply lay down on the ground, closed her eyes, and said, “Brother, let’s sleep.”

Song Xiongguan looked at his younger sister. “Jinyue.”

With her eyes still closed, she replied, “Mm, go ahead, Brother.”

“You’re different from before.”

Her voice was calm. “As expected of you, Brother. You noticed so quickly.”

Hearing this, Song Xiongguan’s heart skipped a beat. An inexplicable sense of unease rose within him.

Song Jinyue opened her eyes, still lying on the ground, looking toward him. “I’ve figured things out. I want to live a different way.”

Figured things out?

Joy surged in Song Xiongguan’s heart.

But before three seconds had passed, her next words sent his heart sinking to the bottom—

“I’m going to join the army as a dependent.”

Song Xiongguan’s eyes widened. “Join the army?”

Song Jinyue nodded.

“No!” he immediately refused.

Looking at her, he said, “Little sister, I’ve already thought it through. I’ll rent a place for you nearby. You can live there, and that way you won’t have conflicts with your sister-in-law.”

“No need. I’ve already bought the ticket.”

Song Xiongguan froze. “How did you buy the ticket?”

He had hidden everything. How did she manage to buy one?

Song Jinyue replied, “I took the transfer notice from your room and went to the neighborhood office to get certification…”

The transfer notice?

He had hidden that too.

Song Xiongguan looked at her. “Didn’t I—”

Mid-sentence, he suddenly realized what had happened.

He couldn’t help but laugh bitterly. “So it was her…”

Song Jinyue asked, “By ‘her,’ do you mean Chen Jing?”

Song Xiongguan fell silent.

After a moment, he answered with two words, “No.”

“Mm.”

He let out a sigh. “Sleep.”

“Mm.”

…

The night grew deeper.

During the day, Captain Han from the police had brought people to stake out a residence in the city.

Seeing that the time was about right, he was just about to give the order when a sneaky figure approached.

Captain Han immediately ordered, “Wait until that person goes inside. Move only after he enters.”

The command was passed along.

The figure drew closer and entered the house they were watching.

Captain Han frowned, feeling that the figure looked strangely familiar.

He wasn’t sure if he was mistaken.

The figure opened the door and entered.

Inside, several people heard the movement and became alert. Two of them quietly moved behind the door, ready to act at any moment.

When the door opened and they saw it was one of their own, they immediately relaxed.

One of them smiled and asked, “Why are you here?”

The man who entered gently closed the door, gritting his teeth as he looked at those inside. “Why am I here? I should be asking you! I deliberately got separated from him, yet you still didn’t manage to take him out!”

The man who had stirred things up earlier sighed. “We already succeeded in creating discord, but a woman suddenly appeared halfway. That woman could speak a foreign language, and not only that, she also—”

The newcomer’s expression changed. “Wait—a woman?”

The man nodded. “Yeah, a woman.”

“What does she look like?”

The man thought for a moment. His first comment was, “She’s quite pretty.”

That made the newcomer roll his eyes.

He already had a suspicion and described the person, “Taller than me, wearing a white floral blouse and army-green pants, right?”

The man nodded emphatically. “Right…”

The newcomer’s mind exploded with a buzz. That woman knew a foreign language—and the events from earlier…

A chill shot up from the soles of his feet.

He wanted to leave immediately.

But the moment he turned—

The door was suddenly kicked open.

Several figures rushed in one after another.

Before the people inside could react, they were all pinned to the ground, gun barrels pressed against their heads.

A shout followed, “Don’t move!”

Captain Han swept his gaze across the people pinned to the ground, counting as he did so.

When he reached the fifth person, the clothing and figure looked extremely familiar.

He gestured for his subordinate to lift the man’s head.

The subordinate complied.

The next moment, an all-too-familiar face came into view.

Captain Han was first stunned, then fury surged within him.

Grinding his teeth, he forced a smile of anger. “Li Huguo… Li Huguo… I really didn’t expect this…”

The more he thought about it, the angrier he became. He kicked him directly.

“Ah!” Li Huguo cried out in pain.

Captain Han grabbed his hair. “Do you even deserve your name?”

Li Huguo bared his teeth in pain.

Captain Han snarled, “You might as well change your name to Li the Traitor!”

“You bastard!”

He kicked him again.

Li Huguo groaned and immediately pretended to pass out.

Knowing he was faking, Captain Han feared that in his anger he might actually beat him to death. With a wave of his hand, he ordered all of them to be taken away.

That very night, a call was made to Wei Weimin.

Wei Weimin was puzzled. “Li Huguo was arrested?”

…

…

“Song Xiongguan! Song Xiongguan! Get up, get up!”

The loud shouting woke Song Jinyue and Song Xiongguan from their sleep.

They both sat up from the ground.

The door opened.

A man walked in and strode up to Song Xiongguan. “Sign this!”

Before Song Xiongguan could react, a sheet of paper was slapped onto his face.

Still groggy, he picked it up. “Sign what?”

The man said impatiently, “Don’t you have eyes? Read it yourself!”

Song Xiongguan looked down at the paper—and froze.

It was a divorce application.

His lips tightened as he looked up. “Where is Chen Jing? Can I see her?”

The man replied impatiently, “Who do you think you are? And who do you think she is?”

“Hurry up and sign it! Once you sign, everything will be settled!”

Song Xiongguan said, “I want to ask her face to face. Does she really want to divorce me? Is she really—”

Before he could finish—

A figure suddenly rushed in.

“Song Xiongguan, are you even a man? You rotten capitalist—”
