“Congratulations, you’re pregnant.”

After leaving the hospital, Jin Yu sat slumped on the bench at the bus stop, her eyes vacant and her body weak, struggling to process the news.

That wild night—they had clearly taken precautions.Full novel: Pregnant First, Married Later: Young Master Yan Seeks Fatherhood’s Fortune — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

How could this happen? How?

She was only twenty-four, had never even been in a relationship, and now she was unexpectedly pregnant with a child. How could she possibly take on such responsibility!

Recalling that fiery night, she clenched the hem of her clothes tightly, her lips pale, her heart tormented.

That night, both she and that man had been set up.

She hadn’t been willing, and neither had he.

But locked in that cramped room, like dry wood meeting a raging fire, unwilling as they were, they couldn’t resist the intensity of the drug’s effects. In the end… everything that should and shouldn’t have happened, did.

Her only shred of sanity that night had been insisting he wear a condom.

But he had worn one—so how was she still pregnant?

Just as these thoughts swirled in her mind, a gust of wind swept up the withered yellow leaves on the concrete ground. Immediately after, a sleek black car pulled up aggressively in front of the bus stop, and the next second, the car window rolled down.

Then, a face both familiar and unfamiliar came into view.

Jin Yu’s pupils dilated abruptly—it was him!

It was actually him!

The man’s expression was cold, his thin, rosy lips parting slightly.

He uttered two words calmly, “Get in.”

Two minutes later, Jin Yu got into the car.

Once inside, fidgeting nervously, Jin Yu wrung her hands together, her thoughts racing. Just as she was about to ask him why he was here, he spoke first, his words sharp and direct.

“You’re pregnant.”

It was a statement, not a question.

So much so that when Jin Yu heard it, her first reaction was to look up in alarm, her voice trembling slightly, “How do you know?”

As she looked up, their eyes met. The man’s exquisite, narrow phoenix eyes appeared particularly sharp and intimidating.

Jin Yu pressed her lips together, her heart in turmoil, though she feigned composure on the surface.

Her tone unconsciously carried a hint of guarded coldness.

“Have you been investigating me?”

Hearing this, the man scoffed disdainfully, “Hah.”

Jin Yu frowned. What did that sneer mean?

Glancing inadvertently at the unfamiliar scenery outside the window, Jin Yu spoke up again, “Where are we going now?”

The man replied succinctly, “Grandmother wants to see you.”

After saying this, he closed his eyes to rest.

Jin Yu could clearly sense that he didn’t want to engage with her.

But why did his grandmother want to see her?

Puzzled, her gaze remained fixed on his strikingly handsome face throughout the smooth drive.

After being stared at for a while, the man finally frowned and spoke up, though his words were still unpleasant.

“Don’t try to seduce me with that heated look of yours.”

Hearing this, Jin Yu stared at him in disbelief.

Huh… what?

How could he be so full of himself?

That wasn’t seduction at all!

Just as she was fuming, her phone rang abruptly. Pulling it out and seeing the caller ID, Jin Yu’s expression turned noticeably colder.

“Hello, Aunt.”

As soon as she spoke, the woman’s shrill, grating voice erupted frantically through the phone, “What aunt? What mom? Jin Yu, I’m warning you, don’t be so ungrateful. Boss Huang is willing to marry you—it’s a blessing you’ve earned over eight lifetimes! You’d better obediently get married!”

After listening, Jin Yu curled her lips into a silent, cold smile.

Indeed, shameless people had no limits.

Perhaps it had been too long since she last heard her voice, but the woman on the other end was nearly exploding with anger, her voice rising another octave.

“Jin Yu, you wretched girl, did you hear me or not?”

“I heard you.” Gazing out the window at the increasingly remote scenery, Jin Yu’s heart settled into calm, her tone light and airy. “But unfortunately, I can’t go through with this marriage.”

As soon as these words left her mouth, the woman on the phone slammed the table. “What?! What do you mean you can’t go through with it?”

Beside her, the man’s thick lashes fluttered slightly, and the next moment, he simply opened his eyes.

She was engaged?

As the warm sunlight streamed through the window, Jin Yu squinted, a faint curve lifting the corner of her lips as she spoke again, her voice still light. “I’m pregnant.”

The word “pregnant” was like a bomb.

It silenced the woman on the other end of the line.

Knowing her well, Jin Yu understood this was the calm before the storm, so she decisively hung up first.

After ending the call, she let out a soft sigh.

She knew in her heart that this wasn’t the end.

It was only the beginning.

If she didn’t marry, her uncle and aunt would certainly stop covering the exorbitant surgery and medical expenses for her younger brother and grandmother.

Having witnessed the entire exchange, the man narrowed his long, dark eyes. With doubts in his mind, he cut straight to the point.

“You’re getting married?”

Still lost in her tangled thoughts, Jin Yu didn’t respond. After waiting a long time without an answer, the man’s aura grew heavy, yet he persisted in asking another question. “You have a fiancé?”

This time, Jin Yu heard him.

Turning to look at him, her expression was tinged with sarcasm. “That man is old enough to be my father. Does that still count as a fiancé?”

With that simple sentence, Meng Jinyan understood everything.

He stared at her intently for a moment, then said no more. Leaning back against the seat, he closed his eyes again to rest.

The car fell into silence. Jin Yu leaned against the window, a wave of helplessness washing over her once more. Life had already been difficult enough these past years, and now, through a twist of fate, she was pregnant.

She could barely support her younger brother and grandmother as it was—where would she find the means to raise the child growing inside her?

At this thought, she pursed her lips, her mind already made up.

This child could not stay.

She and the man beside her had only ended up in bed together because of someone else’s scheme. There was no affection between them—they weren’t even acquaintances. Given their circumstances, keeping this child would only bring disaster.

As the car slowly entered a magnificent estate, Jin Yu moistened her dry lips and spoke softly.

“This child is a mistake. Since it’s a mistake, I won’t keep it. Sir, could you please—”

But before she could finish, the man’s cold, phoenix-like eyes glanced over, his gaze icy and his tone commanding. “You don’t get to decide.”

Their eyes met, and Jin Yu stared at him in near disbelief.

“What do you mean?”

The man was succinct. “Exactly what I said.”

As his words fell, the car came to a smooth stop.

Immediately, the driver opened the door. “Young Master, the Madam asks that you take Miss Jin directly to the prayer hall to see her.”

Hearing this, Meng Jinyan frowned but said nothing.

Jin Yu, however, stood frozen in place for a long moment.

After taking several steps forward without noticing her following, Meng Jinyan turned back impatiently, a layer of displeasure clouding his handsome face. “What are you standing there for?”

“Are you waiting for me to carry you?”

Jin Yu: “…”

As she followed the man forward, Jin Yu did not ask a single question. To her, the person before her wielded immense power. Since he could go to the hospital to seize her, any further resistance would be futile. Given this, it was better to simply wait and see.

However, perhaps because she was too quiet, Meng Jinyan casually asked, “Don’t you have anything you want to ask?”

Jin Yu replied softly, “There are too many things I want to ask.”

“For example?”
