After being in the house for so many days without so much change, hearing about Lyold’s presence surprisingly made Karl happy.
He remembered the cosmetics that were still lying around in his space ring, and his lips pursed.
“Let him in.” He was excited.
Rai nodded.
Then he told the servant outside the door.
A few minutes later, the door opened, revealing Lyold in yellow robes.
The young and delicate-looking man hopped into the room with a bright smile on his face.
He rushed toward Karl and grabbed his hand.
“Karl!”
The excitement in his voice was almost leaking out.
He didn’t even mind the presence of the servants or Rai.
He seemed totally used to it.
Karl also looked happy to see him.
Even though Lyold wasn’t exactly his friend, he was still the only one who could be called a friend in this new world.
His presence brought delight to Karl.
He stood up.
“Let’s go out to play.”
Lyold’s eyes brightened.
“Okay!”
The two left the room.
They walked around the estate, enjoying the wonderful view.
Ever since Karl arrived in this world, it was his first time touring the place he’d been living.
For once, he realized how big this place really was.
From the grand houses to the gigantic trees.
Everything surpassed the things he used to see and know back on Earth.
“You haven’t been coming to the academy.
Did something happen?”
Lyold’s question snapped Karl out of his thoughts.
He looked at Lyold.
“No.
I was just busy.”
“Busy?” Lyold sized him up.
His eyes suddenly widened.
“Wait, don’t tell me…
You’ve changed, Karl!”
Karl’s lips curled.
Of course, he had.
“Why do you look taller?
Wait, why do you look more beautiful?”
Lyold grabbed his hand.
“You…”
Karl waited.
He wanted Lyold to guess it.
The last time they met wasn’t even up to a month, and he had changed so much.
There was only one reason…
cultivation.
Honestly, Karl wanted to introduce Lyold to it, too.
For a ger, the best thing in this world was cultivation.
That way, they could shed away their weakness and embrace the thrill of having the same strength as other men in the world.
Lyold was a good person.
Karl hoped he would love cultivating, too.
So, there was no way he would risk losing his child while cultivating.
However, even after waiting for a few seconds, Lyold didn’t say the word Karl was waiting for.
Instead, his eyes kept flicking to Karl’s belly.
He looked around as if searching for something and then took a step closer to Karl, closing the distance between them.
Karl took a step back, feeling a little uncomfortable.
Lyold closed the distance again and looked into his eyes.
“Are you pregnant?” He whispered.
Karl’s eyes widened.
Wait, that was what he concluded?
“Well…
You’re right.” He was indeed pregnant.
But that wasn’t the reason for the change, right?
“Hm, Lyold, the truth is…”
“I know.” Lyold waved his hand.
His face had turned a little pale.
Karl frowned.
“What do you know?”
Lyold looked around again.
“This is trouble, Karl.
What do we do?
The Sovereign must never know about this.”
“About my pregnancy?
Why would he not know?” Varek was the first to believe he was pregnant.
Varek was his husband.
Why wouldn’t he know?
Karl felt like Lyold was acting too strange.
“Are you okay?” He raised his concern.
Lyold looked at him and slowly shook his head.
“Karl, you and I know that…” He suddenly paused.
Karl turned his head and saw two guards walking toward them.
They seemed to be patrolling the area.
“Young Master.”
“Young Master.”
The two greeted him.
Karl nodded at them.
Lyold suddenly grabbed his hand.
He laughed sheepishly.
“How about we go out to buy more cosmetics?”
Karl looked at him and shook his head.
“I have them here.
I haven’t used the ones we bought last time.” He had never remembered to use them.
Immediately after a bath, or before bed, he’d be either thinking of what to eat or when he would start cultivating.
The idea of painting his face or moisturizing his skin hadn’t really crossed his mind.
Fortunately, his skin was still clean and beautiful.
He didn’t think he really needed cosmetics.
He waved his hand, and different bottles of cosmetics appeared on the ground alongside a small book.
“What’s that?” Lyold bent forward, ready to pick up the book.
Varek beat him to it.
He grabbed the book and patted it hurriedly.
He dusted the dirt off the book and hugged it to his chest.
Lyold raised a brow. Find the original chapter at g.com.
“What’s that?
Is it something interesting?”
“Oh, yes.
It’s a book Varek personally wrote for me.”
“Va…” Lyold swallowed and took a step back.
“Oh.”
Karl hugged the book tighter to his chest.
It was the handwritten manual Varek had written for him back then when he wanted to start his basic cleansing.
Though he no longer needed it, Karl felt reluctant to return the book or even treat it anyhow.
He’d been keeping it safe in his space ring since then.
Lyold bent down, checking the cosmetics on the ground.
He frowned after a while.
“Why haven’t you used them at all?
It’s been so many days.”
Karl blinked.
He had forgotten.
Lyold sighed.
He gathered the cosmetics together.
“Then, let’s go out to eat.”
“Eat?” Karl’s eyes lit up slightly.
He hadn’t tasted the food outside the estate ever since he got here.
That might be a good opportunity.
“Alright.”
Lyold smiled.
Karl returned the cosmetics to his space ring.
The two walked toward the estate’s exit.
“What were you talking about earlier?” Lyold had suddenly stopped and hadn’t continued since then.
Karl was curious.
Lyold covered his mouth.
He looked around warily.
“Let’s get out of here first.
We should probably get to the restaurant before we continue talking about this.”
Karl frowned.
What exactly was going on?
His curiosity got the better of him.
He walked faster, and when they were outside the estate, he looked at Lloyd again.
“Tell me now.” He really was curious and couldn’t wait any longer.
Lloyd’s lips pursed.
“Why are you acting like you don’t know?”
“We both know that His Grace had never touched you.
How could you be pregnant?”
Karl was taken aback.
Varek had never touched him?
Then, what was in his belly?
Lyold’s face turned pale again.
“You and His Grace recently got married and hadn’t even consummated the marriage.”
“You’re pregnant.
Don’t you think it’s Neil’s?”
Neil?
Who was that?
