“Undying Level?”
From Karl Dawnspire’s memory, Karl knew that Rai had been with him since he was young.
His father had returned home on his 6th birthday with Rai, who had his bags behind him, looking tattered and wretched.
“I brought home a friend.” His young father had said.
Rai laughed.
“No, Master, I dare not be your friend.”
Since then, Rai has followed him as a servant.
He had protected him and treated him like a young master.
Whenever he was bullied, Rai would always be there for him.
Whenever people looked down on him because of his weak parents, Rai would encourage him and scold the kids.
Rai had never told him about his cultivation, and over time, Karl had also believed that Rai was an ordinary person like himself and his parents.
He looked at Rai, unable to believe his ears.
Yet he knew Rai would never lie to him.
“How?
When?”
Rai lowered his head slightly.
“You should ask your parents, Lord.
I’m sorry, I can’t say.”
Parents?
Right.
He had parents.
Karl shook his head.
‘No, they are not mine.
They are Karl Dawnspire’s.’
However, he needed to see them.
Ever since he got here, he had never gone to them, and knowing the relationship between Karl Dawnspire and his parents, Karl believed they must have been really worried about him.
Perhaps the reason they hadn’t visited was that they were scared of disturbing his married life.
Karl turned around.
“Let’s go home…
to them tomorrow.” The word ‘home’ slipped out faster than he intended.
That wasn’t his home.
It was Karl Dawnspire’s.
However, each day that passed, Karl found himself crossing the line over and over again.
He shook his head.
“Follow me to the academy then.”
He still had to see Varek.
After telling Karl about his level, Rai no longer saw any need to pretend to be a normal mortal.
He stepped beside Karl and bowed slightly.
“Lord, let me.” He reached out.
Karl raised a brow.
“You can step through space, too?” He was surprised.
He had always thought Varek alone was the only one who could do it.
Rai smiled.
“All Undying Level experts can do it.
Even Enlightenment experts can.”
“Come with me, please.” He reached out again.
Karl grabbed his hand and closed his eyes.
When he opened them again, they were in a bustling area.
Noises filled the place, and crowds of people were before them.
“It’s the arena.” Rai introduced.
He pointed to the gigantic building that surrounded the vast arena.
“His Grace is on the top floor.
I dare not enter without permission.”
Karl understood.
“Call him then.”
“Right.” Rai brought out his token and inserted his spiritual energy.
Karl stared at the token.
His lips pursed slightly.
“When can I also use this thing?” He’d asked before, but he was told only cultivators could use it.
Then, he hadn’t begun cultivating, but things had changed now. This chapter was taken from g.com without permission.
He could also use one.
Then, he wouldn’t have to disturb Rai whenever he wanted to talk to Varek.
“You now have enough to use it.
I’ll get one for you in the storage room when we return.”
Karl nodded.
A small smile formed on his face.
Soon, the token lit up, and a pleasant voice came through.
“I’m on my way.”
That was all he said.
Karl’s smile involuntarily deepened.
“He knows I’m here.” He murmured to himself.
Immediately after, the space shifted around him, and Varek stepped out.
Before Karl began cultivating, he had never felt the movement or any difference in the air whenever Varek left or appeared before him.
But now, he could feel it.
Though it was very slight and could easily be ignored, he still felt it.
His heart raced.
It seemed he really was becoming powerful!
Rai went on his knees.
“Sovereign.”
Varek took Karl’s hand.
“Come with me.” He said calmly.
Karl nodded.
“Rai, I’ll call you when I’m done here.”
“Yes, Lord.”
Varek raised a brow.
His eyes softened considerably, and he disappeared with Karl.
They appeared in a fully decorated room.
Unlike Varek’s simple-looking office, this place was decorated with several things.
From the seats to the walls, Karl could tell they were made with special materials.
Though he also knew they weren’t on par with the ones in his room…
Karl suddenly felt like returning home.
He sighed.
“Did something happen?” Varek asked, pouring something from a jug.
He handed it over to Karl.
Karl took it.
“Tea?”
“Hm.
Drink it.
It helps relax the nerves.
It should also help with consolidating your realm.”
Karl’s eyes lit up.
Then, it dimmed again.
“Varek, the baby turned golden.”
“Golden?” Varek seemed confused.
Karl took his hand and placed it on his belly.
“Feel it.
It’s no longer black.”
Varek did as told.
“It’s really golden…” His brows creased.
He looked at Karl’s face.
His eyes flicked over Karl’s body.
“Your spiritual crystals…
they are strange.”
Karl’s heart skipped a beat.
“Strange?” He hadn’t noticed anything.
“Yes.
They shouldn’t be this big.
They shouldn’t be this deep either.
Did something happen?”
Karl nodded.
“Yes.
Varek’s brows furrowed.
He looked just as confused as Karl.
“I don’t understand.”
Karl’s heart sank.
If even Varek didn’t know, then what would happen to him?
“But don’t worry.
You seem really fine.
Your spiritual energy is even purer and thicker than normal.
It’s a good thing.” Varek assured.
Karl’s dim eyes brightened.
“You think so?”
“Hm.
I know so.
Don’t worry.
It’s fine.”
Karl’s lips slowly curled.
“Hm.
You’re right.
Whatever happens, you’re here.
You’ll help me.”
Varek’s eyes flickered.
The smile on Karl’s face widened.
Right.
Varek was the most powerful in this world.
He was in the Undying Level.
There was nothing he couldn’t do.
Karl stood up.
“Let’s eat.”
“Huh?”
“I haven’t eaten lunch.
It’s almost evening.
Let’s eat.”
He was so famished he felt like his stomach had been flushed of all food.
He couldn’t wait any longer.
Varek smiled.
“Alright.
I’ll tell someone to bring in some food.”
Karl’s mood became even better.
“Varek, I’m in the third rank now.
I’m so fast, right?”
“Rai said no one had ever cultivated this fast before.
Do you think I’m a big genius?”
Varek nodded.
“You are.”
Karl grinned.
He took Varek’s hand and leaned on him.
“Tell me, how long did it take you to leave the Foundation Level?” He’d been told that every cultivator started at the Foundation Level when they were done.
But he still wanted to know when Varek left that level.
At what age was it?
Varek’s brows creased again.
His thin lips tightened briefly.
“I’ve never cultivated.
I didn’t enter the Foundation Level.”
Karl frowned.
