“Jing Jiaxi, what were you trying to do just now?”
Did he want to take the money and just walk away?!
The marriage he had been planning with Jing Jiaxi felt as if it had turned into a complete joke!
His chest was entirely filled with the fury of being made a fool, and Fu Qianyu gripped Jing Jiaxi’s wrist so hard it hurt fiercely. The fire of rage in his eyes made Jing Jiaxi quail even more.
This was the first time he had ever seen Fu Qianyu wear such an austere expression.
Jing Jiaxi used every ounce of his strength trying to break free. He covered his mouth with one hand, his eyes swimming with entreaty: Let go, he was going to throw up…
The tense atmosphere made it impossible to breathe, and the emotional stimulation caused his stomach to churn upside down.
Cold sweat beaded on his forehead, and his face turned deathly pale.
“It hurts…” His wrist hurt so much…
Fu Qianyu’s brow softened slightly. The moment the strength in his hand relaxed, Jing Jiaxi immediately bolted out of the private box.
He ran stumblingly, grabbing a waiter to ask where the restroom was.
Jing Jiaxi’s head spun violently, making running a struggle. The moment he stepped into the restroom, he began to vomit uncontrollably.
Having barely eaten anything, he was continuously dry-heaving.
He hid inside a cubicle. The agonizing sounds of his retching left the waiter outside feeling rather worried.
“Sir, sir, is everything alright? Do you need me to call a doctor?”
“No… no need… cough cough…”
Jing Jiaxi’s hand gripping the toilet lid lost its strength, his palms entirely slicked with cold sweat.
Only after vomiting for a long while did he feel a fraction better.
Jing Jiaxi sat on the toilet, covering his mouth to rest.
“Are you still not coming out?”
The man’s slightly callous voice caused Jing Jiaxi to break into a cold shiver.
Jing Jiaxi opened the door sluggishly, and the first thing to enter his vision was the tip of Fu Qianyu’s leather shoes.
Fu Qianyu said nothing, silently watching the boy turn on the faucet to wash his face and rinse his mouth.
His index finger twitched; a vision of patting the boy’s back flashed through his mind, but he did not act on it.
With cold eyes, he watched Jing Jiaxi stand obediently before him like a student who had done wrong, hanging his head.
Fu Qianyu used his hand to tilt his face up, his thumb forcefully rubbing against the boy’s lips.
The flesh of his lips was rubbed to a sharp ache. Jing Jiaxi’s eyelids fluttered, and after stealing a rapid glance at the man’s expression, he quickly lowered his gaze once more.
The boy was like a startled fawn, held tightly in the hunter’s grasp and not daring to budge.
His starkly black-and-white eyes shimmered with a watery sheen, his eyelashes sweeping itchily against the side of the man’s thumb.
The rage that had burned within Fu Qianyu hardened into frost.
Letting out a cold snort from his nose, he released the boy’s delicate, smooth face and strode away.
Seeing the man take large strides forward, Jing Jiaxi’s gaze wavered, and he remained frozen in place, not knowing what to do.
“Follow.”
The man tossed down those two words, and Jing Jiaxi reflexively followed the man’s retreating back.
As they walked down the corridor, Jing Jiaxi would glance from time to time at the man’s tall silhouette.
His heart was a chaotic mess of a hundred different feelings, cluttered and conflicted, though what filled it most was guilt.
How could he have wanted to take the child and leave just because of a few words from Mr. Fu’s mother?
This truly constituted a betrayal of Mr. Fu.
After throwing up, Jing Jiaxi’s mind cleared up significantly.
All along the way, he followed closely behind Fu Qianyu’s footsteps, his heart weighed down heavily by guilt, his head hanging deeply.
Fu Qianyu halted abruptly. Jing Jiaxi failed to react in time and slammed headfirst into his back.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Fu!”
Already consumed by guilt, he was like a bird startled by the mere twang of a bowstring, and words of apology blurted out of his mouth.
Fu Qianyu’s phoenix eyes narrowed slightly as his gaze swept over the boy who was holding his forehead and apologizing incessantly.
Jing Jiaxi could easily imagine what kind of cold, harsh gaze Fu Qianyu was directing at him. Overwhelmed with anxiety, he wished he could hide his body away, his eyes resting only on the parts below Fu Qianyu’s neck.
“Stupid.”
How could someone be stupid to this extent?
The difference between the price offered by his mother and what he himself could provide was something only a stupid brain like Jing Jiaxi’s would fail to measure.
Five million—it couldn’t even buy a single apartment, yet he actually wanted to leave him for that.
Utterly foolish!
Fu Qianyu spat out that one word with noble detachment and opened the car door. “Get in.”
Jing Jiaxi stole a glance at Fu Qianyu’s expression, seeing that his gaze was profound and his face entirely devoid of emotion.
His heart constricted, and he lowered his eyes, silently entering the car.
He sat in the back row, at the diagonal corner furthest from the driver’s seat.
Mr. Fu must certainly be very angry with him; he probably didn’t want him sitting close by.
Fu Qianyu silently started the vehicle, and after lingering for a few seconds, he muttered: “…Sit behind me.”
“?… Oh, alright…”
In the rearview mirror, Jing Jiaxi shifted his body and sat in the safest seat directly behind the driver.
Fu Qianyu remained silent for a few seconds, his tone laced with impatience: “Seatbelt.”
“Mm…”
Jing Jiaxi’s face burned a bright red. He rarely rode in cars and had momentarily forgotten that one needed to buckle up even in the back seat.
Fu Qianyu saw the boy in the back row holding the seatbelt with both hands, wearing a thoroughly dazed and innocent expression.
Coupled with that face which looked foolish the moment one laid eyes on it.
Fu Qianyu let out a cold laugh, continuing to drive in silence.
To get angry at this kind of idiot felt like a waste of energy to Fu Qianyu.
All along the way, Jing Jiaxi felt deeply uneasy, his body stiffly tense.
When they arrived at the apartment near the school, he got out of the car and followed Fu Qianyu step-for-step.
Fu Qianyu was still disdaining his stupidity in his heart, walking with the wind at his heels.
Jing Jiaxi almost had to jog to keep up with him. He opened his mouth, wanting to ask the person ahead to slow down.
Unfortunately, the detached Fu Qianyu was still giving him the cold shoulder internally, callously leaving him in his wake.
Jing Jiaxi truly could not keep pace and was left far behind.
Fu Qianyu paused in front of the elevator, staring at the elevator doors.
Only when the boy arrived at his side, slightly out of breath, did Fu Qianyu finally press the elevator button.
“Walking so slowly? Have you not eaten?!”
Once inside the elevator, Fu Qianyu activated his cold, cynical mode.
Jing Jiaxi blinked, lowering his head to touch his stomach. “Not yet…”
After receiving the message from Fu Qianyu’s mother, due to pregnancy discomfort, he had run to the restroom during a class break to vomit once.
He had thrown up almost everything in his stomach, only replenishing with a few pregnant-safe snacks and water in between.
And so he hadn’t eaten a proper meal until now.
In the private box, he had only swallowed a single piece of meat before he couldn’t help but bolt toward the restroom.
Now that he was pregnant, he had absolutely no appetite for anything.
Jing Jiaxi pursed his lips helplessly; even his legs felt a bit weak right now.
Fu Qianyu’s peripheral vision swept over the boy, but he could only see the black hair on the crown of Jing Jiaxi’s head.
The elevator quickly reached their floor.
Jing Jiaxi waited for Fu Qianyu to exit before stepping out of the elevator himself.
Only when Fu Qianyu stepped through the front door did he direct cold, biting words at the person following behind him: “What are you doing tailing right behind me! Do you not know how to walk by yourself?!”
“…” Jing Jiaxi froze in place. Hadn’t he been the one who told him to follow?
He let out a weak whisper: “I live here…”
“So you still know you live here!”
Fu Qianyu reached out and pinned the boy against the wall.
Both of Jing Jiaxi’s hands were bound high above his head, and his chin was forced upward to face Fu Qianyu’s countenance.
Jing Jiaxi’s gaze dodged nervously, his heart trembling at Fu Qianyu’s interrogation.
The youth’s waist and abdomen were gathered in, pressed flush against the man.
Fu Qianyu’s eyes narrowed into slits, one hand restricting the boy’s wrists while the other pinched his chin.
“Are you truly this desperate for money?!”
And to think he had actually believed the boy was lofty and proud. It turned out he simply didn’t want to marry him!
A casual few million was enough to dismiss him!
His vision was truly that shallow!
Entirely confined within the man’s embrace, the powerful masculine aura radiating from Fu Qianyu made Jing Jiaxi instinctively want to shrink backward.
Behind him was the freezing wall; Jing Jiaxi had no path of retreat.
Within the man’s arms, Jing Jiaxi’s body braced tautly into the shape of a bow.
Fu Qianyu tightened his grip on the boy’s tender chin, forcing him to lift his head and look into his eyes.
Before him was a man exhaling hot breaths; behind him was a freezing wall.
A watery sheen surfaced in Jing Jiaxi’s eyes as he bit his lower lip hard.
“Speak!”
