In the empty corridor, Bo Tang stopped in front of the dormitory door.

He wore a thoughtful look.

Could it really be such a coincidence that his roommate was that “Mad Snake”?Full novel: Pretending To Be A B-Tier Vampire Marks The Disliked Top Alpha — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Or was it just an ordinary member of the Vaneri family?

Bo Tang tapped open one of the links that Larry had sent him.

Northwestern Manor partially destroyed, “Mad Snake” spotted on the premises.

On the night of June 29, 2142 of the Star Calendar, a massive explosion rocked the Northwestern Manor, located in the northwest of the Capital Star.

Thermal imaging scans from the city suggest the explosion was likely caused by portable thermal weaponry.

The suspect in the case is temporarily identified as Duke Vaneri’s nephew, Anatoly Vaneri.

The suspect may face multiple charges as a result.

The formal trial will commence in three months at the Capital Court, and will be broadcasted and streamed live across the Star-Net at that time.

The “Mad Snake” Vaneri has repeatedly caused social unrest, and His Majesty Avalon has expressed high concern over this case and will attend the upcoming trial.

Bo Tang scanned through the text ten lines at a time and finally confirmed the truth: his roommate was indeed the notorious “Mad Snake.”

Any empire citizen would feel a suffocating sense of oppression facing this name and might turn and run the very next second they heard it, given that the things the “Mad Snake” had done could practically be considered heinous crimes.

, Provided, of course, that Bo Tang really was a native resident of this world.

The only thought popping into Bo Tang’s head right now was, a “Mad Snake” who had committed so many crimes he could literally be used to scare crying children to sleep was actually still just a student.

It felt a bit absurd, and even more discordant.

Were there simply too few bad guys in this world, or was his new roommate just bad to a remarkably prominent degree?

What was even more discordant was that such an anti-social element could still securely retain his student status, and even someone like him, a “fragile and helpless” beta on paper, had been assigned to be his roommate.

Was this a test aimed at the “Mad Snake,” or one aimed at him?

Taking off his sunglasses, Bo Tang put away his optical computer and pushed open the dormitory door with an unchanging expression.

Thanks to the enthusiastic introduction from his kind-hearted friend Larry, Bo Tang already knew that Belon Third Military Academy was backed by the deep pockets of the Imperial Third Military. Even so, he couldn’t help but marvel at the luxury of the dormitory.

, The place before his eyes looked far more like a two-person apartment than a typical dorm room.

At a glance, not only were a kitchen, balcony, and other amenities fully equipped, but aside from the hardware, the surrounding walls were covered in exquisite wallpaper, and the shared balcony featured a massive floor to ceiling window.

A room layout diagram was pasted behind the door, showing that each student’s private room also came equipped with an independent balcony, a small kitchen, and a private bathroom.

Judging by either floor space or interior decoration, it could easily rival a commercial apartment.

To the right of the entrance was Bo Tang’s room. He pushed the door open and glanced at the layout inside.

His luggage had long since been delivered to the room via the school’s luggage consignment service, and it was currently resting neatly in the corner, requiring no unpacking or tidying up.

Therefore, after familiarizing himself with the overall layout of the dorm, he walked out to the shared balcony.

He stood there catching the breeze while sorting out his thoughts.

His suspicion about it being a “test” wasn’t pulled out of thin air.

In fact, he wasn’t a native of Avalon, he wasn’t even from this world.

Five months ago, he had woken up on the outskirts of Belon Star.

Before he could figure out his situation, a squad of uniformed and armed law enforcement officers found him first.

Expecting to be dragged away for interrogation regarding his identity, he was surprised when the officers, seeing his appearance near the scene of a human trafficking case where they had just rescued hostages, categorized him as one of the victims instead.

From the officers’ conversations, he acutely realized he had arrived in a completely unfamiliar place, so he naturally went along with it and pretended to have lost all his memories.

When it came time for registration at the law enforcement precinct, naturally no information about Bo Tang could be found in the citizen database. Bo Tang had fully prepared himself to be branded as someone living off the grid or a stowaway.

Right as he was contemplating escape, the welfare department stepped in.

It turned out that among the rescued victims, people like him were not uncommon. The welfare department bulk produced ID chips for them, and so he had the good fortune of acquiring a legal identity just like that.

During his two months in the district shelter, he crammed hard on social common sense and finally understood his predicament.

He had transmigrated to a world with advanced technology, and an even more advanced human biology.

A world possessing six distinct genders.

Males and females were respectively divided into Alpha, Beta, and Omega secondary genders, and everyone possessed an additional special power called spiritual energy.

Alphas above Grade A could crush all other genders in both pheromones and spiritual power, which was why this society’s Alphas were most prone to producing both heroes and scoundrels.

Clearly, his new roommate was the scoundrel of all scoundrels.

Then, what considerations led the academy to assign a fragile Beta like himself to this scoundrel?

Or rather, did the law enforcement officers really turn out that naive, actually believing he was a victim of the kidnapping case?

What exactly where they trying to achieve by putting him together with a human time bomb?

Bo Tang narrowed his eyes slightly as the rooftop wind ruffled his bangs, bringing a faint, tickling sensation.

As his thoughts drifted, a door opened suddenly behind him, and he turned around to look.

, And bumped straight into a pair of chilling, pale purple eyes.

“Who’s there?”

The newcomer clearly hadn’t expected anyone to be in the dorm. The sharp, icy light in his eyes hadn’t yet faded, making him look like an unsheathed sword.

Bo Tang imperceptibly twitched his brow, watching the newcomer’s hair, which was a cold, nearly metallic silver.

He even hallucinated a faint scent of metal in the air.

The “Mad Snake.”

The roots of his teeth began to itch uncomfortably again.

Leisurely and unperturbed, he gave them a subtle lick by the edge of his tongue.

By the doorway, Anatoly Vaneri’s mood was far from pleasant.

Before opening the door, he hadn’t anticipated that there would be someone else in his private suite, no, wait, he had received a notification stating that a scholarship student would be transferred here.

However, he had been too busy lately and kept pushing the matter aside.

Because of this, he was caught completely unprepared by the sight before him for a fleeting second, to the point where he forgot he was still on a comms call.

The person who had invaded his field of view had been standing sideways, but hearing him break in, turned his head slightly to look over.

Anatoly’s superior eyesight allowed him to clearly see a face breathtaking enough to make anyone’s breath stall.

The other person seemed to smile slightly, shifting his posture just a bit more so that his dark shirt softly and intimately outlined the curve of his waist, slim and supple, almost like a flower stem.

The person possessed an undeniably mesmerizing beauty. Even the wind seemed reluctant to leave him, tangling and curling around his long hair like silk ribbons floating in mid-air, framing a slender, porcelain white neck.

It was like watching a night blooming cereus surrounded by darkness.

Those dense, raven black eyelashes fluttered gently, and eyes as deep as a black hole captured the entirety of Anatoly’s line of sight.

For a few seconds, or maybe a dozen seconds, Anatoly felt his mind briefly detach from reality.

Yet, his vigilance honed over two decades kicked in immediately after, and he snapped back to awareness with a jolt.

…Strange, he rarely experienced such moments of dropped guard.

He furrowed his brows.

A new roommate?

No, he looked more like an Omega. Was he here to visit his new roommate, his boyfriend, perhaps?

Bo Tang saw his new roommate freeze by the doorway, but that brief momentary trance was quickly replaced by sharp coldness. Those purple eyes were hidden beneath bright, silvery-white hair, resembling the core within a sheet of ice.

The man wore a standard white uniform suit with minimal decoration, save for a blue iris embroidery on the collar. He wore the suit buttoned all the way up to the very top, neat to the point of being pedantic, which didn’t quite match his crazy nickname.

Only… Bo Tang took a brief sweep and noticed several scars of varying depth still visible on the man’s exposed skin.

Beside that embroidered collar, there also seemed to be two tiny wounds on the side of the man’s neck, though they were partially concealed by his falling silver hair, looking hazy and indistinct.

Bo Tang’s gaze lingered for a split second before moving to the man’s sullen, handsome face.

The mutual assessment ended in just a few short seconds.

“Hello.” After a brief silence, Bo Tang took the initiative to greet him.

The man’s attitude didn’t soften. He kept a frown fixed on Bo Tang, almost making Bo Tang think his greeting had offended him.

Well, if the nickname had the word “Mad” in it, anything was possible.

Bo Tang thought lazily, the smile on his face growing even softer and completely devoid of hostility.

The man spoke briefly into his comms device. “Help me resolve that issue. We’ll talk later.”

Then he hung up.

He gave Bo Tang a nod, his brow showing no signs of relaxing. “You shouldn’t come into a dorm housing an Alpha without filing an application first.”

Fine then.

Bo Tang thought, this was another thing he had already gotten used to.

Almost everyone seeing him for the first time would assume he was an Omega, just like Larry or the person in front of him.

Fortunately, Bo Tang had already self-taught the simplest and fastest method of refutation.

Unhurriedly, he walked up to his roommate, stopping just as he sensed the muscles in the Alpha’s arm growing tense.

Then, he slowly turned sideways, bent slightly, and swept his thick, voluminous curls over to one side.

Exposing his fatal weakness to a top-tier predator.

“!”

Anatoly’s heart hammered violently, his expression sinking instantly.

This Omega!

How dare he be so brazen as to expose his scent gland right in front of a strange Alpha,

Wait.

Even though Anatoly looked away almost instantly, he still caught the bizarre detail during that hurried glance. Hesitating for a moment, he cast his gaze back toward him.

An Alpha’s eyesight was exceptionally sharp, and with the abundant light right now, he could clearly see that the dark hair made Bo Tang’s neck skin look as cold and white as jade.

Yet, no matter how hard he looked, there was truly, absolutely no protrusion there.

…A Beta?

He suddenly recalled the notification stating that his new roommate was a Beta.

This was his new roommate…

A Beta without pheromones.

The muscles in the Alpha’s arm slowly relaxed, and his suddenly derailed heartbeat returned to its normal rhythm.

Certain that the other person now understood he wasn’t an Omega, Bo Tang let his hair fall back down, straightened up, and let his gaze drift subtly across the other’s neck.

Before Anatoly could notice, Bo Tang pulled back his gaze and offered a gentle smile.

“Nice to meet you, Senior. My name is Bo Tang.”

With that, without waiting for any reaction from the Alpha, he walked straight back to his room.

“Apolo, ” sorry.

Thud.

He was cut off by the soft yet firm sound of a closing door.

Anatoly pressed his lips together.

Though he was indeed the one who had jumped to conclusions, seeing that face…

It was hard not to misunderstand.

Glancing at the closed door, Anatoly dismissed the thought of going back to apologize.

Beep-beep! Beep-beep!

Anatoly glanced at his optical computer, swiftly answering the comms while activating privacy mode.

“Niu Tu,” Anatoly strode into his private room.

“Things look bad. That Omega you brought over last time couldn’t hold on, he’s already dead.”

Niu Tu’s voice was very low, as if guarding against something, carrying an undisguised sense of urgency and anxiety.

Anatoly lowered his eyelashes, masking all expression in his eyes.

At that moment, he looked completely expressionless, yet carried a terrifying, brooding sharpness.

“Tell me the details.”

He closed the door behind him.
