Logan stared at the three girls standing before him, his mind completely blank.
Thanks to the aura effect, he could clearly see their current favorability ratings toward him:
Bai Nian: 90 points.
Chuyu Fei: 80 points.
Ye Xing’er: 70 points.
Right now, Bai Nian’s pretty face was flushed bright red, a stark contrast to her usual boisterous self. Her shy expression caught him totally off guard. Thinking back to all the times they had slung arms over each other’s shoulders and bantered like drinking buddies, he couldn’t help but marvel.
*Unbelievable!* I thought we were just bro-tier homies, but you’re out here trying to share my sleeping mat!
Then there was Chuyu Fei. She was the one who had initiated their breakup, yet here she was, stepping up to volunteer as his woman? Logan couldn’t wrap his head around her logic, and honestly, he didn’t care to try. He skipped right past her and looked at Ye Xing’er.
Ye Xing’er wore thick black-rimmed glasses, sported twin ponytails, and had a petite, soft-looking frame. Right now, she looked adorable in a tight one-piece school swimsuit. Logan had noticed her sneaking sideways glances at him during lectures back on campus. As their math class rep, whenever he failed to turn in homework, she had never once reported him to the professor. Looking back now... the quiet girl had definitely been nursing a secret crush for a long time!
Seeing Logan standing there frozen, Bai Nian finally lost her patience and nudged him in the ribs with her elbow.
"Hey! Logan, three gorgeous girls are offering to accompany you, and you’re still hesitating?"
She paused, her blush deepening even further. "Though... the three of us obviously can’t all go first. Pick one right now, or we’re pulling straws."
Logan fell silent for a moment. He had always viewed Bai Nian as one of the guys, but looking closely now, her features were actually quite refined—especially her bright, striking eyes. And her chest was nothing to scoff at; the swimsuit clung tightly to a pair of firm, generous curves. How had he never noticed before?
Still, picking her directly felt weird.
Then he looked at Ye Xing’er. The younger girl had clearly mustered every ounce of courage she possessed just to step forward. If he passed her over, she would probably burst into tears right on the spot and get her heart utterly crushed. But if he ignored Bai Nian, she wouldn’t be thrilled either.
Logan decided to punt the decision back to them.
"You guys can just draw straws, then."
As for Chuyu Fei...
When Logan glanced her way, the warmth in his eyes vanished entirely. "Exclude Chuyu Fei. Just the two of you draw straws for now."
His cold tone struck like a needle, causing Chuyu Fei’s frame to violently tremble. A single tear escaped the corner of her eye. Without a word, she turned around and silently trudged back into the crowd.
With the aura situation temporarily handled, Logan shifted his focus to immediate survival.
While he watched plenty of wilderness survival shows, this was an actual primitive death-world, and the danger level was on an entirely different scale. On top of that, he had to keep over thirty defenseless girls alive. The weight on his shoulders as Chief was immense.
Suddenly, he remembered the voice from earlier. Didn’t it say everyone gets a random class? What was his?
As the thought crossed his mind, a virtual interface flickered into view.
[Name: Logan]
[Age: 19]
[Class: Blood Warrior]
[Class Perk: Every creature you kill permanently increases your strength by a small margin. Comes with a complimentary hunting knife.]
[Class Rank: Level 1]
[Upgrade Method: Kill three ordinary-grade beasts.]
A Blood Warrior?
So this was his class! And the passive ability... permanent strength gains for every kill with no apparent upper limit? That meant he could just keep growing stronger indefinitely!
A grin spread across Logan’s face. Energized, he spun around to face the girls and raised his voice.
"What classes did everyone else get?"
"This class system is probably our main trump card for surviving this world alongside the tribal aura. Check your panels!"
At his prompt, the girls scrambled to open their interfaces. A moment later, a chorus of startled gasps erupted.
"My... my class is a... lumberjack?! And it gave me a free axe?"
"I’m a physician! It gave me a set of trauma treatment recipes!"
"I’m a lumberjack too! Are you kidding me? You’re making a second-tier national ballet dancer chop down trees?!"
"Hey, why did I get miner?!"
"Don’t think we don’t know you stay up late hiding under your blankets mining crypto, that class fits you perfectly..."
"Hunter! My class is a hunter!"
The chatter bounced back and forth across the camp.
Logan’s head spun, but he forced himself to memorize the breakdown. The picture cleared up quickly.
Production classes took up the majority. There were ten lumberjacks—the largest group—each equipped with an axe. Seven miners and five farmers rounded out the crew with pickaxes and hoes. These formed the foundational backbone of the tribe, and the more, the better. There was also one blacksmith and one tailor.
On the combat side, aside from himself, four girls rolled hunters, complete with their own knives, though their progression required killing beasts without the infinite growth perk attached to his Blood Warrior class. Two cooks rounded out the combat-adjacent roles with cleavers.
The rest were utility and rare classes.
Three physicians, including Teacher Chen and Ye Xing’er, plus one quiet wallflower.
Su Qingyao drew the fortune teller class, granting her one divination per day regarding fortune or misfortune, with leveling tied to resolving the predicted events.
His ex-girlfriend, Chuyu Fei, landed the sharp-shooter class, starting off with a longbow and passive vision enhancements.
Gu Xinran and her art-student friends rolled musicians, capable of playing buffs for allies via flutes.
Finally, Bai Nian rolled witch, giving her the ability to brew bizarre concoctions and potions.
These rare classes clearly outperformed basic labor roles. The girls who pulled standard gathering jobs looked a bit deflated, but they understood the gravity of the situation and gripped their starter tools tightly.
While the group reviewed their roles, Logan quickly scanned the regional chat channel. One look made his stomach drop.
While many were still arguing over the absurdity of their situation, others were already reporting lethal attacks from wilderness beasts! One user had uploaded a photo of a vicious wild wolf tearing through their camp and mauling two people, sending anyone who thought they were the main character into a panicked tailspin.
Danger was already here.
He whipped around, looking at the cluster of female college students. Though equipped with tools, they were fundamentally soft university students, and the pressure mounted on his chest.
They had to move, right now!
"All lumberjacks and miners!" Logan’s voice cut sharply through the noise.
"The main settlement needs wood and stone to upgrade. There’s a forest right beside us and plenty of rocks along the shoreline. Please start gathering resources immediately!"
Spurred by the looming threat of survival, no one dared object. Over a dozen girls grabbed their axes and pickaxes and scattered to work.
However, two girls stood frozen near the back, facing away from the group. They clutched their chests and backs respectively, shoulders shaking as if they wished the earth would swallow them whole.
Logan understood immediately. They were the ones who had lost their swimsuits in the surf. Expecting them to work looking like that was a public execution.
He walked over and softened his tone.
"Go into the brush and gather some large broad leaves to rig a temporary wrap. Don’t worry, I’ll figure out a clothes situation for you as soon as possible."
The two girls spun around, faces burning a deep crimson that looked ready to bleed. They shot him a quick, fractured look filled with raw embarrassment and overwhelming gratitude, then nodded vigorously.
On Logan’s personal tracking panel, their favorability ratings instantly jumped from 20 to 45.
With that handled, Logan’s thoughts drifted back to the heiress.
Her class was a fortune teller.
"Su Qingyao!" Logan called out.
She hurried over to his side. Remembering how he had seen her completely exposed earlier, she kept her gaze glued to the dirt, too shy to meet his eyes.
"Your class is a fortune teller, right?" Logan asked, his tone turning serious.
"Right now, use your ability to divine what we’re about to run into next!"
