“Oh my God!
Look at this—what a bizarre ability!”
On a small island isolated in the middle of the ocean, a man in a white lab coat stared excitedly at the surveillance footage.
On the screen—
A red-eyed teenager was casually “devouring” over a dozen soldiers one by one.
Beside him, a woman wearing a similar white coat frowned.
“This kind of mutant ability has never appeared in our records before.
Stryker…
he’s dangerous.”
Stryker tapped a few keys and pointed toward rows of numbers displayed on the screen.
Excitement filled his face.
“Dangerous?
Of course I know he’s dangerous!”
“But look—look carefully!”
“His speed, reaction time, and combat instincts surpass the mutants in our facility.
Add in his ability to directly consume humans…”
“There’s no doubt about it…”
“His powers are extraordinary.”
“You…”
The woman was about to say something—
But suddenly the office door opened.
A man in a general’s uniform walked in.
His presence carried the iron-blooded aura of a soldier and the authority of someone long used to command.
“Stryker, I heard someone’s coming to cause trouble on the island.
Is it true?”
“Yes, General Monson.”
Stryker nodded.
A strange glint flashed briefly in his eyes.
“However…”
“This mutant’s abilities are extremely interesting.”
“He may become our Weapon Number Twelve.”
“Oh?”
General Monson looked surprised.
“You’re saying he’s even stronger than Weapon Eleven?”
Weapon Eleven had only recently been created.
And he’d already witnessed its terrifying power.
Could someone stronger really appear this quickly?
“That’s right, General.”
Mad excitement flashed through Stryker’s eyes.
“Weapon Eleven’s success helped us roughly master the technology of merging mutant abilities.”
“If we transfer Weapon Eleven’s powers onto him…”
“We’ll create an even stronger Weapon Twelve.”
“A weapon far deadlier to mutants.”
He turned the monitor toward the General.
“Look.”
“Even at his most basic state, his speed already rivals speed-specialized mutants.”
“His reactions.”
“Combat instincts.”
“Overall capability.”
“He’s practically perfect experimental material.”
“More than qualified to become Weapon Twelve.”
“Hmm…”
General Monson narrowed his eyes while examining the data and footage.
“Indeed…”
“Perfect test material.”
After a moment, he nodded.
“Fine.”
“Since this mutant came directly to us…”
“No need to show mercy.”
“Stryker.”
“You’re the expert on dealing with mutants.”
“Capturing him is your responsibility.”
Joy flashed through Stryker’s eyes.
“Don’t worry, General.”
“I’ll make sure you meet Weapon Twelve very soon.”
“I’ll be watching.”
General Monson gave him a long look before leaving.
The office door shut.
The woman beside Stryker opened her mouth again.
“Stryker, you…”
But he completely ignored her.
Instead he picked up a communicator.
“Enough.”
“You can leave.”
“I need to make preparations.”
“You…”
Her words turned into a deep sigh.
And she quietly left.
Meanwhile…
One thousand meters away from the island—
Alex stopped his boat.
“No helicopters.”
“No ships intercepting me.”
“This place should already be within their defensive perimeter…”
“So why aren’t they moving?”
Confused, Alex activated the first support ability evolved from the Annihilation Eyes:
Clairvoyance.
Each time his Annihilation Eyes evolved, they developed entirely new abilities.
So far—
This was the first.
At first glance, Clairvoyance sounded like simple long-distance vision.
But Alex’s version was much stronger.
It granted:
Long-distance sightNight visionX-ray vision360-degree vision without blind spots
Basically…
A much more overpowered version of the Byakugan.
“A thousand meters…”
“That’s enough.”
Alex smiled confidently.
His gaze locked onto the island.
Instantly—
The scenery rushed closer.
Everything a thousand meters away became crystal clear.
“So that’s it…”
“They already prepared a trap.”
“Looks like I got labeled a mutant too.”
Alex laughed.
Along the shoreline closest to him, countless armed soldiers hid carefully.
Their concealment was excellent.
Without X-ray vision, he would’ve never noticed.
More importantly—
Every soldier carried special alloy nets.
Clearly—
Their orders were to capture him alive.
“Bullets don’t really work on me…”
“Are they seriously planning to catch me like this?”
Alex shifted his vision.
Then burst out laughing.
Because along every possible landing point—
The soldiers had set countless traps.
Ropes.
Hidden pits.
Steel nets.
And numerous strange high-tech devices Alex couldn’t even identify.
All intended for one thing:
Capture him alive.
“Wow…”
“You guys really think highly of me.”
Continuing further—
Alex looked deeper into the island.
The first thing he saw was an enormous dam.
Beneath it stretched huge clusters of buildings and heavily fortified roads.
Armed patrols moved everywhere.
Security was extremely tight.
Inside the facility stood countless machines.
Large.
Small.
Some several stories tall.
Others the size of boxes.
Alex couldn’t understand a single one.
Still…
They somehow looked incredibly impressive.
“Found them…”
“So these are the captured mutants?”
His vision moved deeper.
There—
He saw strange metal cages.
Inside were boys and girls of different ages.
Every face wore gloomy expressions.
As Alex watched curiously—
Suddenly—
Someone looked back.
“Who’s there?”
A girl.
A very beautiful girl.
Alex blinked.
“Interesting…”
“So this is a mutant.”
Losing interest in observing further, Alex withdrew his gaze.
Then restarted the boat.
And headed toward the island.
Inside one of the cages—
The girl frowned.
Her roommate looked over.
“White Queen, what’s wrong?”
The girl answered while glancing around cautiously.
“Just now…”
“I felt someone watching us.”
“But the feeling disappeared quickly.”
Her roommate immediately looked nervous.
She knew how powerful White Queen’s telepathy was.
“Someone spying on us?”
“Could it be one of the base’s superpowered agents?”
“Or a mutant working for them?”
“Are they planning something?”
White Queen shook her head.
“No…”
“I don’t think they’re from the base.”
“When I felt their gaze…”
“It felt…”
She hesitated.
“Like looking at one of our own.”
“Maybe a captured mutant…”
“Or…”
A slight smile appeared.
“Someone here to save us.”
“Save us…”
Her roommate whispered bitterly.
“I really hope it’s the second one.”
“Honestly…”
“I’ve had enough of living inside this cage.”
“I just want freedom.”
White Queen gently hugged her.
“Don’t lose hope.”
“That day is coming soon.”
“How do you know?”
The roommate froze.
“Sorry…”
“I shouldn’t have said that.”
“No need to apologize.”
White Queen smiled softly.
“My instincts tell me…”
“Something big is about to happen.”
“And our chance to leave…”
“Is almost here.”
“Really?”
White Queen pretended to look offended.
“You should trust a telepath’s instincts.”
The roommate finally smiled a little.
Whether it was real…
Or simply comfort…
Hope itself was enough.
