“Useless.
You’re way too slow!”
Alex casually dodged a soldier’s grappling move.
Just as he was about to reach out and “eat” him—
A sudden warning exploded in his mind.
Danger.
Extreme danger.
Something was racing toward him at terrifying speed.
“Move—!”
Without hesitation, Alex twisted his body and instinctively dodged.
“An opening!
Die—!”
The soldier in front of him lit up with excitement.
Alex had suddenly exposed a weakness.
But before he could finish speaking—
Something interrupted him.
Violently.
Half of his body disappeared.
A high-speed sniper round tore straight through him.
“A sniper?!”
Alex nearly jumped out of his skin.
Thinking about how he’d basically been sitting in a sniper’s sights like a bird under observation made his scalp tingle.
Without wasting time thinking further, he immediately pushed his speed to the limit.
His body became a black blur.
Running in a zig-zag pattern, he rushed toward a nearby cluster of buildings.
“As long as I reach cover…”
“The sniper can’t touch me.”
After the capture plan failed and soldiers kept being devoured, General Monson finally lost patience.
He deployed his trump card:
Snipers.
“BANG!”
“BANG!”
“BANG!”
“BANG!”
The next scene stunned everyone.
Battle-hardened soldiers.
Veterans.
Even their teammates.
Alex never slowed down.
Running wildly in a Z-pattern.
Large-caliber sniper rounds exploded craters all around him.
In under three seconds—
He crossed over one hundred meters.
Then reached a building safely.
BOOM!
Alex kicked the doors off their hinges and rushed inside.
“Damn it, he escaped!”
“Three shots and we still missed…”
“This mutant is terrifying…”
Watching Alex disappear inside the building, the three snipers reluctantly lowered their weapons.
It wasn’t because they lacked skill.
Alex was simply too fast.
Too fast to properly track.
Too fast to aim.
They had relied entirely on instinct.
The fact they could even chase him with bullets already felt miraculous.
The lead sniper stood up.
“Let’s move.”
“The General ordered us to confirm the kill.”
“We’re not done.”
One of the others forced a smile.
“Honestly…”
“I really don’t want to fight that guy.”
“I’m afraid he’ll destroy my confidence as a sniper.”
“Same here.”
Still—
And soldiers obeyed.
The three grabbed their rifles and headed for higher ground.
Inside the building—
Alex wiped sweat from his forehead.
“Holy crap…”
“I got careless.”
“Almost got blown apart by a sniper.”
He’d been so focused on fighting soldiers that he’d forgotten his biggest weakness:
Long-range attacks.
If his instincts hadn’t warned him—
He would’ve been reduced to meat paste.
“Wonder when my eyes will evolve a long-range ability…”
Now that immediate danger had passed, Alex’s thoughts wandered.
Back before coming to this world—
He’d been a huge anime fan.
Like many protagonists from novels, he’d initially been thrilled after arriving in another world.
Dreaming of domination.
Adventure.
Epic battles.
Then one day—
He read a newspaper.
And his mind completely broke.
Because—
This world was a chaotic superhero crossover universe.
Even though Alex hadn’t been a fan of American comics before, he still knew enough.
Supermen capable of destroying galaxies.
Supervillains obsessed with ending worlds.
Crazy heroes.
Even crazier villains.
Practically nobody in those worlds was normal.
Landing in a universe like that?
His luck was beyond terrible.
No money.
Stranded in another country.
And worst of all—
He’d been turned into a little pretty-boy kid.
Naturally, he quickly experienced society’s darker side.
Until one day—
He awakened the strange power of the Annihilation Eyes.
Everything changed.
Anyone who bullied him—
Devoured.
Anyone plotting against him—
Devoured.
After obtaining this power…
Alex transformed completely.
Then—
While immersed in endless “annihilation,” his eyes finally absorbed enough spiritual energy.
A new ability appeared:
Clairvoyance.
Only then did Alex truly understand.
The Annihilation Eyes themselves weren’t his ultimate power.
They were merely an energy collector.
A system.
Once enough power accumulated—
His eyes evolved.
Granting entirely new abilities.
So Alex began traveling the world.
Growing stronger.
Collecting treasures through…
less-than-legal methods.
Including the priceless valuables stored back at his home.
This trip to Canada—
Just happened to lead him here.
“Step…
step…”
Boots echoed outside.
The soldiers had arrived.
But General Monson’s orders were absolute.
And by now they’d realized:
No sacrifice meant no mission success.
Defy orders?
Death.
Fight Alex?
Also possibly death.
At that point—
Who cared?
At least they could die as soldiers.
The commander shouted:
“Forget capture!”
“Kill him with heavy weapons!”
Alex switched back to Clairvoyance.
Then sighed.
“I wanted to keep things simple…”
“Looks like I’ll actually have to get serious.”
Still—
Not even a trace of fear appeared on his face.
Because…
They weren’t enough.
“FWOOOOSH!!”
Several rockets launched simultaneously.
High-explosive warheads slammed into the building.
BOOOOOOM!!
Massive explosions erupted.
The soldiers stared at the smoke cloud with anticipation.
Praying.
Cursing.
Hoping Alex had finally died.
But Alex had already seen everything.
How could he let himself get hit?
The explosion collapsed most of the building—
Yet Alex had escaped before impact.
Leaping three stories high, he jumped through a nearby window and entered another building.
It wasn’t because he feared their weapons.
Rather—
He’d discovered something interesting nearby.
A heavily guarded location.
Something strange inside.
Something that looked…
Useful.
His curiosity had taken over.
So he temporarily ignored the soldiers below.
“Move!
Move!”
“He’s heading toward the laboratory!”
The commander suddenly shouted.
The soldiers finally found Alex again and immediately chased after him.
The ones in front weren’t even afraid of Alex ambushing them.
While running, they fired continuously.
“RATATATATATAT—!!”
Bullets screamed through the air.
Sparks exploded off metal surfaces.
But not one shot struck Alex.
Against Alex’s monstrous physical abilities—
Landing a bullet was nearly impossible.
Alex glanced backward.
Then smiled.
A smile filled with bloodlust.
“Pointless.”
“Once I find what I’m looking for…”
“I’ll deal with you.”
With a light step—
His body shot forward another dozen meters.
And disappeared into another room.
