Lin Mian pressed her hands against He Duoye’s shoulders, her wide, clear eyes staring as she tried to lean back and avoid him.
But He Duoye didn’t actually kiss her. He leaned in close, stopping just short of touching her nose with his own.
“What are you hiding from?” He looked down at her, his expression unreadable.
Of course, Lin Mian was afraid of catching something.
Who knew how many people this scumbag ex-boyfriend had slept with over the years? If he passed some disease to her, wouldn’t she be in for a world of trouble?
But Lin Mian didn’t dare say that. Instead, she subtly tried to disgust him by saying, “I just ate raw garlic.”
He Duoye raised an eyebrow slightly, his expression becoming a bit more animated. “Where did you get garlic? Did you steal it?”
His long fingers pinched the back of Lin Mian’s neck, his voice low, carrying a hint of half-serious, half-playful warning.
“If you’re not clean with your hands and feet, you’ll be punished.”
Lin Mian instantly remembered being fed to the tiger yesterday and could only swallow her frustration and change her tune. “I was joking.”
But tomorrow, she would eat garlic like crazy and stink up that rotten ex of hers.
“Oh, so you lied to me.” He Duoye’s warm, rough palm moved across Lin Mian’s delicate cheek. His hand was large and strong, covering half her face with just one hand.
His thumb pressed and played with Lin Mian’s lips.
It made Lin Mian’s whole body tingle, especially her lips and cheeks, as if electric currents were sparking. Her eyelashes trembled.
He Duoye’s relaxed yet dangerous voice drifted down slowly.
“Here, lying to me will get you shot in the head.”
Lin Mian’s eyes widened instantly, staring at He Duoye in shock and disbelief.
The man lowered his gaze, his expression lazy and indifferent, with a hint of a half-smile, as if he were joking, yet also as if he were telling the truth in a joking tone.
Lin Mian realized she couldn’t understand him at all.
He Duoye’s fingers pressed back and forth on Lin Mian’s lips, making her feel as if, at any moment, his fingers would pry open her teeth and play with her tongue.
“Next time I call you over, you’ll come obediently,” he said, curling his lips into what seemed like a gentle, pleased smile. “Understood?”
Lin Mian looked at him for a moment, then nodded.
“So obedient.” He Duoye leaned down and kissed her lips before releasing her.
He Duoye walked out of the hall.
Behind the massive, luxurious door of the villa, several black cars were parked, with a few men who looked like underworld henchmen standing nearby.
He Duoye didn’t look back as he bent down and got into the car.
After seeing off the estate’s owner, He Duoye, Uncle Jixiang took Lin Mian to her room.
Lin Mian wanted to walk around the estate to familiarize herself with the surroundings, but she was refused.
Uncle Jixiang’s tone was gentle and kind. “The young master has instructed that you must stay in your room and wait for him from now on. Aside from seeing him off in the morning and welcoming him home at night, you are not to leave the room.”
Lin Mian: “…”
So, she was being held under house arrest, wasn’t she?
Uncle Jixiang was very amiable and considerate. “Keeping you from going out is for your own good. This is the young master’s private residence. To ensure safety, there are not only strict surveillance measures and private armed patrols but also tigers and over a dozen guard dogs.”
“If you wander around alone, you could easily get hurt.”
The words sounded like friendly advice, but they also carried a subtle threat.
If Lin Mian didn’t listen and tried to sneak out alone, she might just end up bitten to death by tigers or guard dogs.
So Lin Mian temporarily accepted the fact that she couldn’t leave the house. She asked, “What about the person who came with me?”
Uncle Jixiang looked at her. “Are you referring to your blind date?”
Lin Mian nodded. After all, he was someone she knew, and she wanted to know whether he was alive or dead.
“He’s currently locked up with the wolfhounds.”
Lin Mian was startled and asked, “Is he still alive?”
Uncle Jixiang shook his head gently and said helplessly, “I’m not sure about that. If you’re worried about this blind date of yours, you can go beg the young master to allow you to visit him.”
“……”
Lin Mian’s room was on the second floor, and outside the window was the garden full of flowers. Opening the window, she could smell the rich floral fragrance.
Looking into the distance, there were vast stretches of flat, lush green grass, and beyond that, the forest and the city in the far distance.
Lin Mian leaned against the railing, staring blankly at the scenery before her.
Too many things had happened yesterday, leaving her no time to properly think about her current situation.
But actually, there didn’t seem to be much to think about carefully.
The situation was clear.
Her ex-boyfriend, who had always been a bit abnormal, had now become a powerful underworld boss. Not only did he keep tigers and venomous snakes, but he also had twin beauties as his wives.
Now, she had tragically become the “mistress” under house arrest, while her blind date was even more pitifully locked up in the wolfhound kennel, and she didn’t even know if he was still alive.
Lin Mian gripped the railing, looking at the horrifying bruises and rope marks on her wrist, and belatedly began to feel anxious and scared.
The experiences of the past few days could be described as nothing short of escaping hell. First, she was almost sold to a compound, and after barely managing to escape, she was nearly shot to death.
In the end, she was saved by her ex-boyfriend, but now her ex-boyfriend was suspected of being a rotten cucumber psychopath (note: extremely dangerous).
Lin Mian pressed her forehead against the railing, regretting that she had agreed to the blind date her aunt had insisted on arranging.
She was in the prime of her life, just beginning her journey. She didn’t want to rot here… Could she still go home?
If she begged for mercy, would He Duoye be willing to help and send her home?
Lost in thought, a commotion suddenly came from outside. Uncle Jixiang knocked and entered, followed by several maids carrying things, as well as two women who looked like sales assistants.
Each of them was either holding clothes racks filled with garments or carrying shoe boxes as tall as a person, along with jewelry bags and bottles of skincare products.
The sheer quantity made it seem as if several stores had been emptied.
And all of it was luxury brands.
Lin Mian was pushed onto the balcony by the busy maids, staring in astonishment.
Was He Duoye really planning to keep her as a pet?
It was at this moment that Meizhu walked in, dressed in a white gown, elegant like a cold white rose.
She walked through the bustling crowd, slowly approaching Lin Mian, and smiled gently, speaking softly, “I wasn’t sure what brands you prefer, so I prepared a bit of everything. If there’s anything you don’t like, just have the maids take it away.”
She handed Lin Mian a tablet, showing her a small app inside. “If there’s anything else you need, you can place an order here.”
Lin Mian was still a bit stunned and hadn’t fully processed the situation.
So, these things weren’t prepared by He Duoye but by Meizhu, the suspected main wife.
Was this… meant for them to get along harmoniously as members of a harem, with the three women serving one husband together?
Could this be any more cringeworthy?
