“Good morning, Minister.”
“Mhm, good morning.” Ling Wei walked briskly in her high heels, greeting the colleagues who spoke to her.
A year ago, Ling Wei had suggested to Zhang Qing that she wanted to gain experience at her own company and requested to start from the most basic level. At first, many people didn’t dare treat her like an ordinary intern or order her around. However, through subsequent interactions and Ling Wei’s repeated insistence, everyone began to treat her as a normal colleague. When Ling Wei relied on her own strength to become the Finance Minister within a year, very few people thought she had gotten the position through the “back door,” as her hard work was obvious to all.
During this year, contact between Ling Wei and Su Mu had been scarce. From her cousin, she learned that Su Mu was progressing very quickly. While proud of Su Mu, she also felt pain for her; Su Mu must have put in an immense amount of effort to earn her cousin’s recognition.
Thinking of this, Ling Wei sighed and picked up her pen to handle some documents. Suddenly, her vision went dark as a familiar voice rang out: “Guess who I am?”
Hearing Su Mu’s voice, Ling Wei’s stiff body relaxed. Her heart surged with excitement, but she didn’t pull the hands away from her eyes. Instead, she let out a soft chuckle: “I guess it’s a big pervert.”
“Hmm? Is that how Weiwei thinks of me?” Su Mu released her hands and walked around from behind. She looked at Ling Wei with a smile, her thumb stroking Ling Wei’s brow and eyes.
“Hmph, I’ve known your true nature for a long time.” Looking at Su Mu’s smile, Ling Wei suddenly felt an urge to cry.
“Hmm? Why that expression? It couldn’t be that you didn’t want to see me, right?” Seeing Ling Wei’s reddened eyes, the longing Su Mu had accumulated instantly exploded, but she continued to tease her; regardless of the reason, she didn’t want to see the person before her shed tears.
“I wish you hadn’t come back at all…” This person was truly heartless enough to not contact her for a year, and now she suddenly returns just to scare her. The more Ling Wei thought about it, the more aggrieved she felt. She turned her head away, her usual stern “Minister” persona completely vanishing.
Su Mu lifted one leg, making Ling Wei sit a bit further back into her chair, and then knelt between Ling Wei’s legs. She leaned her body forward, took Ling Wei’s earlobe into her mouth, and teased it with her tongue.
“Mhm…” As Su Mu licked her earlobe, a numbing, tingling sensation washed over her, and Ling Wei couldn’t help but let out a soft moan.
Hearing Ling Wei’s voice, Su Mu’s breathing began to grow heavy. She reached out to turn Ling Wei’s face toward her, and her lips followed suit with a kiss. Seeing Ling Wei’s squinted, hazy eyes, her hand uncontrollably began to wander downward.
“Minister, god—god—god… Goddess!” Li Jing originally had business with Ling Wei, but the moment she opened the door, she saw such an explosive scene. She was so scared she slammed the door shut immediately. After closing it, she felt instant regret. Damn it, Li Jing, how can you be so stupid! This is a live broadcast! A live broadcast! Argh!
Li Jing was outside the door filled with regret, while Ling Wei was jolted awake by the sound of the door slamming. Seeing her disheveled appearance, her face turned bright red. It was incredibly embarrassing to have her subordinate see this. She pushed Su Mu, trying to get her to get up.
“Ignore her, let’s continue,” Su Mu said, her voice husky. Her hand remained on Ling Wei’s thigh, with a gradual upward trend. Her lips slid down to leave a mark on Ling Wei’s neck. Heaven knows how she survived this past year.
Ling Wei, with a red face, pressed down on Su Mu’s wandering hand, not knowing how to make her stop. While Ling Wei was feeling conflicted, a knock sounded at the door.
“Minister, can I come in now?” After debating for a while, Li Jing decided she still needed Ling Wei to sign the documents, as they were urgent.
“Come in.” After a moment, Li Jing heard Ling Wei’s voice giving permission, though it sounded a bit shaky.
The moment Li Jing entered, she saw the Goddess Su Mu sitting on the sofa staring at her. The stare made her scalp tingle. She bit the bullet, handed the documents to Ling Wei, and ran out immediately after they were signed. Holy crap, that scared me to death. But the hickey on Goddess Ling Wei’s neck is too obvious! Wait, how is she going to leave the office later?
Seeing Li Jing leave, Ling Wei breathed a sigh of relief, and her tensed body slumped.
“Mu Mu, what have you been doing this past year?” Ling Wei changed the subject, worried that if Su Mu lost control, her “wolf nature” would break out.
“Mhm, I learned some self-defense and other things.” Seeing Ling Wei trying to distract her, Su Mu went along with it. After all, there was plenty of time, wasn’t there?
Seeing that Su Mu’s tone was back to normal, Ling Wei walked over and sat beside her, quietly listening to her talk and occasionally sharing her own situation.
During this year, Su Mu had learned various fighting techniques from Jamie and ordnance knowledge from Zhao Tianqi. She had the system help by playing instructional videos in her dreams; one could say she was even studying while she slept. During this time, Lin Qingqian would regularly find her to give updates on Ling Wei’s recent situation. Su Mu had been restraining herself from coming back, and this return was only because Ling Wei’s birthday was approaching.
Ling Wei huddled in Su Mu’s arms and listened to her talk for a long time. After twelve o’clock, she dragged Su Mu out for lunch, leaving the documents on her desk completely untouched.
Knowing Su Mu was only staying in the country for two days before heading back, Ling Wei called to take a leave of absence and went out to have fun with her.
That evening, Su Mu met her future father-in-law and Ling Wei’s younger brother at the Ling residence.
Father Ling didn’t show much of a reaction upon seeing her. On the other hand, Ling Wei’s brother, Ling Feng, started calling her “Brother-in-law” the moment he saw her. Looking at the face so similar to Ling Wei’s, Su Mu patted Ling Feng’s head affectionately.
After dinner, Su Mu was called into the study by Father Ling. They talked for nearly two hours. By the time she returned to the room, Ling Wei had already finished her shower and was drying her hair.
Seeing Su Mu enter with a somewhat heavy expression, Ling Wei didn’t say much and just told Su Mu to go take a shower.
Seeing Ling Wei looking at her with concern, Su Mu squinted her eyes and intentionally said wickedly: “Weiwei is in such a hurry for me to shower, could it be…”
Hearing Su Mu’s suggestive half-sentence, Ling Wei rolled her eyes, tossed the pajamas at Su Mu, and turned back to dry her hair.
Sitting on the bed waiting for Su Mu, Ling Wei thought about what Su Mu had just said. Her heart rate accelerated. When she saw Su Mu come out, she didn’t even dare to meet her eyes.
Looking at Ling Wei’s expression, Su Mu was somewhat tempted. But thinking about how Ling Wei would surely have many things to do tomorrow, and that she wanted to take her to see something, she suppressed her restless heart. She stepped forward, hugged Ling Wei, gave her a light kiss on the lips, and said goodnight.
“Okay.” Ling Wei ignored the slight disappointment in her heart, scolded herself internally, and fell asleep huddled in Su Mu’s arms.
The next day, after greeting the Ling family, Su Mu took Ling Wei out.
Su Mu drove Ling Wei’s car toward the outskirts. Ling Wei didn’t ask questions; she just quietly watched Su Mu drive.
After nearly an hour, Su Mu stopped outside a forest. She told Ling Wei to close her eyes and then carried her in on her back.
