Dashing out of the Fu Corporation and getting into his car to leave, Ji Chen finally let out a smug laugh.
Looking at the trace of blood on his fingernails, he felt quite pleased. Although he had not managed to grab him cleanly, his nails had indeed grazed him—hahahaha, so satisfying!
A mere paper figure dared to act presumptuously over the future ruler.
Returning happily to the entrance of the Liuguang company, his smile faded… He had gone to the Fu Corporation today apparently to talk about purple jadeite.
Now back at the company, if Vice President Cheng Ming asked, what was he supposed to say? Not only did he fail to discuss business properly, but he had also ambushed and scratched someone.
“Damn it!” Ji Chen sat in the car and massaged his forehead. This was truly the worst; there was no helping it. Every time he saw Fu Chi, he could not help but remember that embarrassing incident involving his clone. To handle things without bringing personal emotions into it was practically impossible.
Even though he had only recently taken human form, he understood the cosmic balance of Yin and Yang. Yin and Yang… well, that was not even the main issue; the main problem was that he had been the one on the receiving end, which made it completely unacceptable.
After pondering for a long time, he figured he still had to start with his circle of buddies. Even if none of them answered their phones, he knew the places where they usually hung out like the back of his hand.
Turning the steering wheel, he drove toward Night City, the paradise of nightlife. Ji Chen was a regular there and even held a VIP card.
After calling them one by one to inquire, he quickly located where that group of troublemakers was raising hell tonight.
After confirming the time, Ji Chen drove home first to catch up on sleep, only heading out again once night had fallen.
Although Aunt Wu disapproved of him going out to party at night, she also knew that young people loved lively places. After asking for the address, she urged him to be mindful of his safety.
On the second floor of a purely non-alcoholic club, laughter echoed from time to time. Two pairs of eyes were fixed on the three bloody scratches on Fu Chi’s jaw, tossing out all sorts of teasing remarks.
Dressed in a white shirt and white trousers, Beishang—a pale-skinned man wearing a white-strapped wristwatch—said with a playful tone: “First you get injured down there, and now it is your face. Fu Chi, if you have got a girlfriend, bring her out so we can take a look.”
“Even if her temper is a bit fiery, since you have taken a fancy to her, she should not be too shameful to show in public. Why act all secretive and keep things hidden? Why are you treating us like outsiders?”
Upon hearing this, Cheng Cong—a fashionable man wearing a pair of peach-blossom eyes who frequently appeared in entertainment news—promptly spat out his drink.
In disbelief, he blurted out: “Injured down there… Is your sex life discordant?”
Beishang shook his head: “He registered for the emergency department at my hospital. According to the inspection report, it was suspected to be trauma from a physical strike.”
Cheng Cong’s expression turned odd: “Fu Chi… you would not resort to forcing yourself, right? With your looks and status, which woman would not have her heart moved?”
“Take my advice, a forced melon is not sweet, and it will not taste very good. If you lack women, I will introduce some to you. Many in the entertainment industry look decent and are more than willing to ease President Fu’s worries.”
Fu Chi’s expression was less than stellar: “If you have the leisure to worry about me, you should manage your own lower half. I heard that three different women holding babies have already come to you for paternity tests this month. Just how many times have you become an unexpected father?”
Cheng Cong’s peach-blossom eyes showed complete indifference: “I like wandering among flowers, but I do not go around scattering seeds everywhere. It is just people trying to latch onto me with false accusations and rumors blowing things out of proportion. The entertainment industry is like that; rumors fly like wind and rain. After running an entertainment company all these years, I am already used to it.”
“Hmph.”
As Cheng Cong finished speaking, the germaphobic Beishang pulled out disinfecting alcohol and started spraying the entire room again, aiming an excessive amount toward Cheng Cong’s direction as if some kind of pathogen lurked there.
“Beishang, do you want to…” Before Cheng Cong’s sarcastic remark could escape his lips, it was interrupted by a wave of shouting and cursing coming from downstairs.
The three men stood on the second floor and looked down to see that a dozen or so young men and women who had booked the first floor had apparently gotten into a dispute over a girl, leading them to pick up stools and engage in a brawl.
Seeing the first floor turn into a complete mess in a matter of moments, Cheng Cong with an ugly expression quickly called the police.
“Brats, daring to cause trouble in my establishment, you will get what is coming to you later.”
A delicate-looking girl covered her mouth and stood off to the side, looking at a loss: “Stop fighting, stop fighting! I am not going to like any of you; the one I like is Ji Chen!”
Upon hearing this, Fu Chi upstairs cast an extra glance at the girl, the darkness in his eyes deepening.
At that moment, an extremely eye-catching figure entered the club entrance.
Dressed in a casual sportswear set, stepping in pure white sneakers with red accents, and sporting dazzling silver hair on his head that looked even more striking in the dim nightclub lighting, he resembled a virtual character stepped straight out of an anime.
Fu Chi’s gaze locked in place.
The moment Ji Chen stepped through the doors, he was greeted by the sight of an all-out brawl, leaving him standing at the entrance with a blank expression. Seeing that both sides had drawn blood, he figured it might be better to find his buddies another day.
However, before he could retreat, a sharp female voice pierced through the deafening music, calling out “Ji Chen” as she rushed toward him in tears.
Looking at the girl whose makeup was completely ruined by tears, Ji Chen genuinely did not recognize who she was for a moment.
Seeing her lunging at him, he instinctively dodged aside: “What the hell, who are you?”
The girl had lunged with considerable force, expecting him to catch her, but she never anticipated that Ji Chen would step out of the way. Unable to brake in time, she crashed directly into the wall, her eyes rolling back as she fainted on the spot.
Ji Chen: “…” This had nothing to do with him.
“Qingqing!”
“Zhou Qing!”
The two opposing factions stopped fighting. Their leaders rushed forward, pushing and pinching each other while scrambling to lift the unconscious girl.
Ji Chen wore a look of sudden realization. So it was Zhou Qing, that girl who spent all day crying as if the entire world had wronged her.
Given his status, he naturally had plenty of people surrounding him, but he could not even remember when this Zhou Qing had started hanging around him.
He actually recognized the two guys fighting over who would support her; they happened to be the very buddies he had come to find. Just as he was about to speak, the sound of police sirens wailed in the distance.
Realizing things were going south, Ji Chen turned on his heel and bolted upstairs.
Quite a few people cried out miserably: “Brother Chen!”
Ji Chen yelled a warning as he ran: “Whoever drags me into this is going to pay for it!” What rotten luck; aside from drawing a bit of blood from Fu Chi, today had not brought a single comforting moment.
Yet this run of bad luck seemed to have only just begun.
The nightclub lighting was already dim, and as Ji Chen sprinted up the stairs while keeping an eye on the entrance, he never expected anyone to be waiting for him at the landing.
He crashed squarely into a firm chest.
Clutching his aching bridge of the nose and looking up, just as he was about to unleash a string of choice curses, his waist was grabbed and he was hoisted up and pressed down into a leather sofa.
The overhead lights were slightly brighter there, allowing Ji Chen to clearly see that familiar silhouette pressing down on him. Memories rushed back, and with a premonition of disaster, Ji Chen began to struggle frantically.
“Fu Chi, get the hell away from me! Are you out of your mind for the rest of your life? Damn it, it hurts, are you a dog?!”
Pinned down immovably, the sharp stinging sensation at his neck made Ji Chen gasp. He reached up to grab Fu Chi’s hair and tear into it, but his wrist was intercepted and caught a step ahead.
Fu Chi licked away the bead of blood from the bite mark, whispering right beside his ear: “If you shout any louder, the police will come upstairs. Once this reaches the police station, how are you going to explain it to your family?”
Ji Chen stopped struggling, and Fu Chi did not bite him again, though he did not release his confinement either. Burying his face in the fragile crook of Ji Chen’s neck, he stared fixedly at the bite mark that was beginning to ooze blood once more, his eyes dark as ink.
The people downstairs were quickly escorted away, and the nightclub manager set about cleaning up the aftermath.
Once quietness was restored, Fu Chi finally sat up, leaving Ji Chen to meet the astonished gazes of two other pairs of eyes.
Damn it, there were still people upstairs? That meant everything he had just done was practically broadcast live!
