Ji Chen’s gaze flickered. Oh no, how on earth did the biological father and son run into each other?
He quickly stepped forward to support Ji Heng: “Nothing is wrong, Dad, you misheard. Your back is injured. Should I call Mom over?”
“Don’t! That old man is still lying in a hospital bed. If your mother finds out I came looking for a fight at my father-in-law’s house, it won’t look good for my image. I’ll just pretend I’m away on a business trip for a few days, and once my back heals, I’ll head home and sweep this whole mess under the rug.”
After saying this, Ji Heng shoved his eldest son’s head aside and looked at the two people standing behind him. Hmm, they both seemed like decent young men.
His gaze settled on Fu Chi, whom he found particularly pleasing to the eye.
“When did you make friends like these? You never mentioned them. Aren’t you going to introduce them?”
Ji Chen twitched the corner of his mouth and bit the bullet: “Beishan, the director of Jing’an Hospital, a friend I just met recently. The person beside him is Beishan’s friend, Fu Chi, the general manager of the Fu Corporation.”
Hearing this introduction, Beishan wore a strange expression, but still smiled and greeted Ji Heng: “Hello, Chairman Ji.”
Fu Chi glanced at Ji Chen, his gaze growing deeper, but he didn’t show any displeasure and greeted him as usual.
Ji Heng smiled and said, “You’re all talented young men. Just call me uncle. I’m pleasantly surprised that this boy of mine has finally managed to make some outstanding friends.”
Fu Chi stepped forward familiarly and pressed a hand onto Ji Chen’s shoulder: “How could that be? Ji Chen is very smart and talented. Ever since taking over Liuguang, he has already figured out how to source raw stones directly from the jade origin, saving a massive chunk of expenses. He’s extremely resourceful.”
As the head of the Qingsheng Group, Ji Heng was naturally no stranger to what was going on around him.
With a peculiar look on his face, he stared at his good son: “You are going to the Golden Triangle to source raw stones? What did Liuguang’s vice president suggest?”
Ji Chen irritably swatted Fu Chi’s hand away: “Dad, don’t listen to him tell only half the story. I know that without connections I’ll just get scammed, so I’m going to the Golden Triangle with Fu Chi. The Fu family is in this exact business, so I won’t get scammed.”
Ji Heng’s gaze shifted back and forth between the two of them, his eyes deepening.
He looked at Fu Chi and said, “Direct cooperation with Liuguang would maximize the benefits for the Fu Corporation. Why is President Fu taking this approach of teaching a man how to fish instead?”
Fu Chi replied straightforwardly, “Of course it’s for personal friendship. Ji Chen really wants to achieve some results to show you or the upper management of Qingsheng. Helping out a little and making a friend, isn’t that a great deal?”
Ji Heng smiled without confirming whether he approved or found it fishy, and patted Ji Chen’s head.
“You’ve grown up. Do things according to your own ideas without any hesitation. Dad will always have your back. I’m heading back to the company.”
“You don’t need to worry about the old man’s side of things either. Yuezheng was just talking nonsense; you don’t need to take a single word of it to heart.”
Ji Chen knew this was a subtle jab at Yuezheng for what he had said about that child, so he pretended not to care at all. He supported Ji Heng to the doorway, handed him over to the bodyguards, and watched him leave.
The moment he turned back, he met Beishan’s envious gaze: “Young Master Ji really grew up in a honey pot. That father-son bond is so enviable.”
Fu Chi also curved his lips: “Clearly I had good intentions, yet I got warned instead. The little young master has a great father.” That line about having his back at any time was obviously meant for him to hear.
Ji Chen’s expression was complex. This father was supposed to be Fu Chi’s…
Damn it, he couldn’t afford to feel pity. On one hand, it was for the evolution of the Chaos Realm; on the other hand, it was a personal grudge. He couldn’t let those excessive things this bastard had done to him just slide.
He stepped forward, lifted his chin, and looked haughtily at Fu Chi: “When are we leaving for the Golden Triangle? How many days has it been already?”
His chin was pinched, and Fu Chi’s expression turned inscrutable: “Does the little young master also realize it’s been a long time? I called you, did you pick up?”
“Were you calling to talk about the trip? If you had just sent a message, I would have known! You wasted all these days for nothing; I thought you got held up by something. Unbelievable. Book the tickets, we’re leaving tomorrow.”
Ji Chen irritably tried to bat away the hand holding his chin, but couldn’t break free. He snapped, “Let go!”
Realizing the situation was about to turn awkward, Beishan wisely slipped out of the treatment room and considerately closed the door tight.
Fu Chi’s hand shifted from pinching his chin to gripping the back of Ji Chen’s neck: “I’m Beishan’s friend, that was a pretty unique introduction the little young master gave me. Am I that unpresentable, or not even worthy of being the little young master’s friend?”
Ji Chen wasn’t paying attention to what the guy was asking at all. The feel of the large hand on the back of his neck overlapped with the shameful memory of being grabbed by the neck in his dream.
His face flushed scarlet: “Fu Chi, take your hand off!”
Seeing Ji Chen’s face turn as red as an apple, Fu Chi meaningfully stroked his thumb against the back of his neck. Ji Chen’s expression shifted, and he lowered his head, wanting to dodge.
Instead, he was pressed against the wall, a knee wedged against his waist and abdomen, trapping him completely.
His entire body was enveloped by the exotic fragrance radiating from Fu Chi. What on earth was this scent? It was impossible to describe, it just smelled wonderful and incredibly intoxicating…
Ji Chen tried his hardest to resist, but he was still floating a little. It really smelled amazing!
Unable to bear it any longer, he threw his arms around Fu Chi, buried his face in the crook of his neck, and took a desperate, heavy sniff like a pervert, angrily demanding: “Tell me, what kind of perfume are you wearing? Did you drug yourself?”
With his neck lightly brushed by those breaths, the depths of Fu Chi’s eyes darkened. He likewise buried his face in the crook of Ji Chen’s neck and replied, “I never wear perfume.”
“Liar! It’s super fragrant.” Ji Chen sniffed around trying to confirm the source of the scent, only to have his chin lifted up once more.
Fu Chi lowered his head with a very clear objective. Ji Chen’s pupils contracted, and he immediately turned his head to dodge.
It was entirely obvious what kind of dark thoughts this bastard had.
Anger flaring up in his heart, Ji Chen raised a hand, wanting to strike him, and shouted furiously, “Are you a pervert? I’m a man!”
Fu Chi pinned Ji Chen’s hand down and said earnestly, “It has nothing to do with gender. It just happens to be you.”
Scene after scene from the clone’s memories threatened to replay, and Ji Chen found it completely unacceptable.
“You might not be normal, but I am! I don’t accept this! Fu Chi, you know my background. If my dad finds out you have warped intentions, he’ll make you pay a price you can’t afford. Do you believe me?”
“I believe you. But that doesn’t matter either. Life is always full of thrills; who can guarantee that the little young master won’t end up mine in the end?”
“You…” Ji Chen was stumped. He realized something.
Fu Chi wasn’t a madman; he was a lunatic.
Madmen lack reason, but Fu Chi wasn’t like that. He knowingly did what shouldn’t be done, and didn’t even believe he could lose…
Or perhaps, even if he lost, it wouldn’t matter because he could always make a comeback. People like this were the most terrifying kind, if you couldn’t crush them to death, they would bring endless trouble. Yet, for now, he couldn’t even let Fu Chi die.
His quick-witted brain spun for a moment, and Ji Chen suddenly broke into a smile: “Fu Chi, it seems you didn’t take a single word of what I told you last time to heart. No worries, this young master will give you another choice.”
“If one day you can cast aside all your pride, family wealth, and status, and let me trample over you however I please, then this young master will acknowledge your perversion. Otherwise, get the hell away from me.”
Shoving Fu Chi away hard, Ji Chen gave a haughty toss of his head and walked off.
Without status, there was no way they could have a future; with status, he wouldn’t accept him anyway. Ha, contradictory much? He wanted to make Fu Chi trap himself in his own web. Daring to covet him, he must have had a death wish.
Halfway through his smug laughter, his expression froze. Tomorrow he had to go to the Golden Triangle with Fu Chi, and it would just be the two of them in a strange place. That spelled serious trouble.
Thinking it over, he pulled out his phone and scrolled through his contacts list, where he couldn’t even remember who was who.
He prepared to call some fair-weather friends to tag along; even chatting idly would be better than going on a trip alone with Fu Chi. But after calling a round of them, almost every single number was disconnected.
Dad, you really screwed your son over to death!
A few calls actually went through before hanging up on him instantly. Finally, his eyes landed on a name, Zhou Qing.
Uh, that was the crying girl who had crashed into him and knocked him out last time. Let’s give it a try. He absolutely could not go out alone with Fu Chi; that was no different from walking straight into a tiger’s den.
The call connected in a second, followed by a joyful burst of crying…
