Thinking this, Shu Ran secretly peeked out again.
The moment her gaze met the man’s long, narrow, deep-set eyes, she immediately pulled her head back and crouched down against the wall.
【System, the Supreme God looks like he’s really good at fighting right now…】
【If I go over there, will he mistake me for prey?】
If Shu Ran remembered correctly, the humans and zombies in this world seemed to be enemies.
Especially since the Supreme God looked so powerful right now. She might not be able to beat him.
Her mother had taught her that if she encountered someone she couldn’t beat, she should hide first!
Although back in the God Realm, there weren’t many people who would make an enemy of the Fox Clan in the first place.
The System was stumped by her question too.
At first, it had simply been too excited that they could finally start the mission, completely forgetting that Ranran and the Supreme God were, in a sense, no longer the same species!
The System squeezed its little fleshy paw and quietly suggested,
【Why don’t we first…】
But before it could finish, a large, well-defined hand suddenly reached over from the side!
Yu Yan grabbed the little zombie by the armpits and effortlessly lifted her out.
The man narrowed his deep, pitch-black eyes, with a hint of danger brewing in them.
“Look what I’ve caught.”
After being lifted up, Shu Ran instinctively softened and stopped struggling.
But once she remembered that this was no longer the God Realm, she immediately started struggling again.
Unfortunately, she couldn’t speak, so all she could make were soft little “awoo” sounds. Not only were they completely lacking in intimidation, but she also looked more like a frightened little animal baring its tiny fangs. She might look fierce, but that was about it.
Sure enough, the man wasn’t affected in the slightest. He simply changed the way he was holding the little zombie, shifting his grip from her armpits to wrapping an arm around her back as she struggled.
He kept the little zombie securely restrained while casually looking at her.
Even with the little zombie held in his arms like this, she only came up to his neck. Once he had her restrained, she would puff out her cheeks and look up at him.
There was a layer of dirt stuck to her little face, though no one knew where it had come from. With the slightest movement, bits of dirt would fall off in little crumbs. Yet the skin underneath was unbelievably smooth and fair. Against the dirt, her skin looked like a peeled egg—delicate and tender.
The clothes she wore didn’t fit her properly either. They were even a little too tight, and all her struggling had twisted them askew in several places. The graceful curves of her figure were outlined by the fabric, making it difficult to look away.
The little zombie seemed to be getting anxious. Her beautiful but lifeless eyes blinked rapidly, and even her tender red lips kept opening and closing, yet she still couldn’t make much of a sound.
The System knew this situation had happened because of its own mistake, so it hurriedly began trying to fix it.
【Ranran, I’m giving you and the Supreme God the ability to communicate through your thoughts now. As long as you can touch the Supreme God, you’ll be able to make him hear your thoughts!】
Shu Ran had already given up struggling, letting Yu Yan hold her however he pleased. But when she heard the System’s words, her beautiful purple eyes lit up lucfsobip.
She looked into the man’s eyes and tentatively said,
【Don’t hold me like this. It’s uncomfortable.】
The man across from her visibly paused. His gaze lingered on the little zombie’s lips for a moment before he glanced around.
Only after confirming that there was nothing nearby that could have made a sound did he turn his gaze back to her.
“You can make me hear your thoughts?”
Shu Ran’s eyes were shining as she nodded repeatedly.
【Yes!】
Yu Yan watched the little zombie’s reaction, the corners of his lips curving into a fleeting smile.
“Interesting.”
Not only did she retain her rationality, but she even possessed such an interesting ability.
Yu Yan set her down, but then he reached over and rubbed her upper lip, exposing the small, underdeveloped canine tooth beneath it.
“You’re a zombie, yet your teeth are still so underdeveloped. Can you even find anything to eat?”
The moment Yu Yan’s fingers touched her teeth, Shu Ran instinctively stuck out the tip of her tongue and licked them.
But after hearing his words, she forgot to pull her tongue back in and immediately protested,
【I don’t eat that kind of stuff!】
The zombies in this world all ate humans. Although she was a little fox, she had never eaten a human before!
But it was obvious that Yu Yan’s attention wasn’t on what the little zombie was saying at all. His deep, dark eyes remained fixed on that little glimpse of soft pink, and his Adam’s apple unconsciously bobbed.
He instinctively wanted to move closer to the little zombie, but just as he was only a few centimeters away from her, a wave of restless zombie growls suddenly came from outside the window.
Yu Yan’s eyes narrowed slightly. His fingertips gave the little zombie’s lower lip one last gentle rub before he finally released her. Then, carrying the magic vine, he walked over to the window.
Shu Ran’s attention was drawn away by the frightening howls as well.
She pursed her lips, which felt a little strange, and turned her head toward the commotion.
By the time Shu Ran found Yu Yan, it was already nearing dusk, but there were still several hours before it would be completely dark.
Yet now, it was as though a layer of thick gray fog had suddenly covered the entire sky. In just a few short minutes, endless darkness had swallowed up all the sunlight.
The speed at which night fell was completely abnormal, and the atmosphere was just too strange.
Shu Ran sniffed lightly and grabbed onto Yu Yan’s sleeve.
The System silently covered its eyes.
【Ranran, you’re a zombie now. You don’t need to be scared at all.】
【Oh, right.】
The moment she realized it, she promptly released Yu Yan’s sleeve, perfectly demonstrating what it meant to use someone and then cast them aside.
