Yun Qing sent a resignation letter to the company’s email address. He also called the colleague who had introduced him and Zhou Yao, saying that he and Zhou Yao were incompatible, that he was unilaterally announcing their breakup, and that he had already left and returned to his hometown. He did not intend to go back in the future. Breaking up was best for everyone.

After taking care of these matters, he devoted himself to building a shelter, purchasing supplies, and trading for seeds, poultry, and livestock in the village.

He also found time to send an anonymous email to the national authorities, telling them that the Apocalypse was coming. Whether they believed it or not was not his concern; he would simply do what he needed to do.Full novel: Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder Wants to Live — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

He had also used mental suggestion on the people in the village, telling them that a great disaster was approaching and urging them to prepare, store more food, and avoid going outside unless necessary.

This was also why his supernatural ability had recently reached the Third Level. Otherwise, he really would not have been able to use mental suggestion.

There was nothing he could do. Mental abilities were simply this slow to level up. If he had not been planting so much recently and frequently training his divine sense, he truly would not have advanced so quickly. In his previous life, he had only been a second-grade ability user when he died.

He also did not know whether starting his life over would allow him to Awaken another supernatural ability. In his previous life, he had heard of Big Shots with Dual-Type Ability. Could someone like him, a Cannon Fodder, be lucky enough to have such fortune?

Over the course of a month, he hollowed out and reinforced the ground beneath the house. He also bought supplies such as solar panels and a Generator.

The crops in his Space had already been harvested once, and he had planted them again. The rooms in the small courtyard within the Space were also piled high with grain, canned food, instant noodles, seasonings, daily necessities, and, most importantly, weapons.

He had also planted many fruit trees and Medicinal Herbs. Almost anything useful that he could currently find had been planted.

He also raised chickens, ducks, geese, and fish, along with a pair of small black pigs, a pair of lambs, and a pair of calves. He had spent all his money.

During that month, he also figured out the rules governing the Space.

Time was frozen in the West Wing Room of the small courtyard, and the Space there was enormous. He did not know exactly how large it was. All the stored supplies were kept there, yet they occupied only a tiny corner, where he had neatly stacked them layer by layer on wooden shelves.

As for why he had not used iron shelves, it was because he was out of money. If he got the chance, he would acquire some for free in the future and use the place as a warehouse.

The Time Flow Rate in the eastern wing room was 30:1 compared with the outside world. Yun Qing had temporarily designated it as a forbidden area. He did not want to age prematurely, but if he ever grew tired of living, it would be a good place to commit suicide, he thought self-deprecatingly.

The Time Flow Rate in the main room and the side rooms was the same as that of the land below the mountain: 10:1.

The three rooms in the main room were the bedroom, living room, and study. The western side room had been made into a kitchen, while the eastern side room had been made into a bathroom.

Yun Qing did not understand why the Time Flow Rate could be different in each part of such a small courtyard. He also did not know what purpose it served.

During this time, Zhou Yao called him and asked why he wanted to break up. Her tone was somewhat angry, which made Yun Qing even more suspicious that she might have known something all along.

After brushing her off several times, Zhou Yao seemed determined not to let the matter go. In a fit of anger, Yun Qing turned off his phone. In any case, no one knew where his hometown was. Trying to find him would be like searching for a needle in a haystack.

Did she still think he was a Cannon Fodder? Dream on! His fate was his to decide. No one else would be allowed to scheme against him.

That night, thunder and rain raged together, as if the sky had been pierced open. Torrential rain poured down, and the air was mixed with indescribable odors.

Yun Qing stood before the window, watching the curtain of rain outside with an extremely calm heart. He had already made so many preparations and possessed a cheat-like Space. At the very least, he was far better off than in his previous life. If he still could not survive, he could simply enter the Space and live there. It would only mean dying a little earlier—so what? It was not as if he had never died before.

Yun Qing guessed that Awakening a supernatural ability should be related to whatever had appeared in the air. He closed his eyes and carefully sensed his surroundings, feeling as if he could “see” countless multicolored specks of light, like fireflies on a summer night during his childhood.

He extended his divine sense and cautiously tried to capture the specks of light. However, they were far too mischievous, constantly teasing him. Just as he was about to catch them, they slipped away. This left Yun Qing somewhat discouraged, but deep down, he felt that these specks of light had tremendous uses.

He kept trying and kept watching them slip away. Only after the heavy rain gradually weakened did he finally catch a small green speck of light. Once captured, it entered his body directly. He then “saw” the surrounding green specks of light scrambling to follow it into his body.

Yun Qing felt an exhilarating comfort spread through his body, like drinking a glass of ice water beneath the scorching sun. The sensation was so pleasant that he moaned aloud.

After traveling once through his body, the specks of light gathered inside his head and formed a large green sphere of light.

Yun Qing was delighted. He had succeeded!

At that moment, there were three spheres of light inside his head. One white sphere was his Psychic-Type Ability core, one dark green sphere was his Space, and the other green sphere was the one he had just captured.

Yun Qing opened his eyes and extended his palm. A small green orb of light emerged from it. This was his wood-type ability.

Wood represented vitality. The wood element could not only promote plant growth but also control plants to attack enemies. Most importantly, the wood element possessed healing abilities. Although it was not as powerful as a healing ability, it was still effective. At the very least, treating himself would pose no problem.

Yun Qing was overjoyed. After being reborn, he had gained another life-saving skill.

The morning after a night of torrential rain, screams arose from the village. The terrified and miserable sounds made Yun Qing’s heart tremble.

It seemed that someone had already become a Zombie. Anyone bitten by a Zombie would become one as well. He closed his eyes briefly and did not move, much less go outside to investigate. It was not that he did not want to help, but people’s perceptions differed. Even after becoming Zombies, those creatures were still their family members in their eyes. Killing them without permission would only bring trouble.

Something like this had happened in his previous life. Those who had been rescued not only failed to show gratitude but also blamed their rescuers for killing their family members. Were they truly ignorant? No. They simply wanted an excuse to shift their fear onto someone else, and if they were lucky, they could even extort some benefits.

Yun Qing did not want to work himself ragged without receiving any thanks. With the Apocalypse upon them, humanity’s evil was gradually magnified to its fullest extent, and staying alive became a luxury.

He did not go outside for several days in a row. Through his divine sense, he could still observe some of the situation outside. Scattered Zombies had begun moving around, while there were naturally no living people to be seen. Everyone was cautiously staying inside their homes.

Yun Qing stayed underground, eating and drinking well, and his days were quite comfortable. He tended the crops in his Space meticulously. To practice his wood-type ability, he constantly stimulated plant growth inside the Space while simultaneously controlling his divine sense to harvest, till the soil, and plant seeds.

In just over ten days, his wood-type ability had already reached the Third Level, while his mental ability had reached Level Five.

Living people began moving around the village, and many started venturing outside to search for food.

People had already accepted the reality of the Apocalypse. They began killing Zombies and gathering plants.

However, the Zombies were also leveling up at this point. Some had already reached the second grade, and their movements were no longer as slow as before. Instead, they were becoming increasingly agile.

Mutant Plants and Mutated Animals were also becoming more numerous. Even crops such as corn and wheat could transform into archers, using their natural advantages to resist the humans coveting their seeds.
