Jiang Tang’s clothes had also become a complete mess from what had just happened, and the confident expression she had worn earlier now carried a hint of softness.

“Ring ring ring.”

The landline on the table suddenly rang. Jiang Tang was almost finished bandaging Fu Yuanchao’s wound, so she handed him the last bit of gauze before walking over to answer the phone.Full novel: Quick Transmigration: The Seductive Host Crooks Her Finger and the Big Shot Bends Down to Coax Her — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Hello?”

“Little sister, it’s me.”

Jiang Tang sat on a tall rosewood chair, twirling a strand of her naturally curled long hair around her finger.

“What is it?”

The person on the other end was the original host’s second older brother, Jiang Shanwen. He had once relied on his family’s wealth to behave arrogantly and recklessly outside. In recent years, after something happened to the family, he had once again set his sights on Jiang Tang, who had married into the richest family. Time and again, he had demanded money from her, and no one knew how much he had already taken.

The original host was the youngest daughter of the Jiang family. She had two older brothers and one older sister. However, her eldest brother had died several years earlier while trying to rescue people from a flood.

“How are you and Fu Yuanchao doing now?”

Jiang Tang turned her head and glanced at Fu Yuanchao on the sofa, who was lowering his head while wrapping his bandage. The tip of her tongue still carried a faint tingling sensation.

“Pretty well.”

Fu Yuanchao looked rather aloof and difficult to approach on the surface, but when he kissed her, the dominance buried deep within him could not be restrained. His strength had been so great that it had almost sucked blood from that tender skin.

“I heard he has been getting quite close to a female student recently.”

A hint of impatient coldness appeared in Jiang Tang’s eyes.

“If you have something to say, just say it.”

Jiang Shanwen laughed, his voice filled with obvious calculation.

“Little sister, I have a girlfriend now, and we are going home soon to discuss the bride price. Remember to come back for a visit.”

Jiang Tang clicked her tongue. Once again, they were trying to find ways to squeeze more money out of the original host. Fu Yuanchao had always been generous with money, transferring a considerable amount to the original host every month without ever asking where she spent it.

The original host had been influenced by her family from childhood and believed that she had to repay her parents and help her older siblings. Jiang Tang did not have such a good temper.

“Alright, I will go back in a few days.”

Jiang Tang would make sure this entire family returned every bit of flesh and blood they had sucked from the original host.

Since she had taken over this body, she absolutely could not allow the original host to be bullied anymore.

“Your brother?”

“Mm. He wants me to go home in a few days.”

Jiang Tang rested her chin on her hand and looked at Fu Yuanchao. A sly gleam flashed through her eyes. She reached out and tapped his knee with her fingertip.

“He said that if you bully me, I should find myself a new husband who will listen to me.”

Fu Yuanchao fell silent.

Jiang Tang had not deliberately lowered her voice during the call, so he had heard almost their entire conversation. By coincidence, he played along with her.

“What did you say?”

“I said…”

Jiang Tang suddenly moved closer. Her soft body pressed against Fu Yuanchao’s arm without the slightest gap, and the words that escaped her red lips drifted into his ear like a gentle breeze.

“I only like my husband.”

Seeing Fu Yuanchao’s jaw suddenly become even more tense, Jiang Tang could not help laughing. She placed her entire weight against his shoulder.

“Does my husband think I am right?”

“Very right.”

Fu Yuanchao patted Jiang Tang’s waist.

“Go change your clothes first. Someone is coming over tonight.”

Jiang Tang nodded and gave the corner of Fu Yuanchao’s lips a quick kiss.

“Alright, I will go upstairs now.”

The second hand of the vintage round clock hanging on the wall ticked away steadily. Fu Yuanchao raised his head and looked toward the stair railing, where a corner of clothing quickly disappeared from view.

Jiang Tang…

He silently rolled those two words around his tongue. His fingers tapped lightly against the tabletop, and an inscrutable smile appeared on Fu Yuanchao’s face.

Jiang Tang changed into a qipao. As she walked, her fair and slender calves could be seen faintly beneath the hem. Her hair was loosely pinned up at the back of her head with a hairpin, while two wisps of loose hair fell naturally over her shoulders.

Her small face was the size of a palm and completely free of makeup.

Sunlight fell across her fair skin, making it look as delicate as the finest jade.

Two people were already sitting on the sofa. Fu Yuanchao occupied the main seat, while on the smaller sofa beside him sat another imposing man dressed in a gray suit and tie.

When Fu Yuanchen saw how completely unfazed his brother was, he felt extremely frustrated with him. He had never liked this sister in law who dressed so flamboyantly every day.

“Brother, our family’s money does not simply fall from the sky. You cannot give money to everyone who asks you for it. Do you know that she takes all that money and uses it to support her family?”

“Our Fu family is not some free ATM!”

Jiang Tang held the stair railing and heard every word clearly. She walked over to Fu Yuanchao, placed her soft hand on his shoulder, leaned down affectionately against him, and smiled at the indignant Fu Yuanchen.

“Are you talking about me, little brother?”

Fu Yuanchen was stunned.

“You… you…”

His gaze darted rapidly between the two of them.

“Jiang Tang! You are flirting with me!”

Jiang Tang fell silent.

Fu Yuanchao raised his hand, wrapped it around Jiang Tang’s waist, and gave her a slight tug, pulling her down to sit beside him.

“Your brother…”

Jiang Tang tactfully pointed toward her head.

“Did he have a high fever when he was little?”

Fu Yuanchen understood exactly what she meant.

“You are insulting me!”

Jiang Tang giggled and leaned sideways against Fu Yuanchao’s shoulder.

“No, I am just showing concern for you.”

Fu Yuanchen immediately turned his head and complained.

“Brother!”

“Fu Yuanchen, shut up.”

Fu Yuanchen instinctively closed his mouth at once and sat upright, a trace of fear in his eyes.

Normally, he was also a reckless young man who feared neither Heaven nor Earth, but whenever his brother put on a cold expression, he always felt as though he was about to be beaten. Before his mind could even react, his body had already obediently shut his mouth.

Fu Yuanchen gave Jiang Tang a meaningful look.

Can’t you see that my brother is angry? Hurry up and coax him.

Jiang Tang merely gave Fu Yuanchen a casual glance before picking up an orange from the table and tossing it to Fu Yuanchao.

“I want to eat.”

Fu Yuanchen immediately looked delighted at the prospect.

There was still no one in this world who could order his brother around.

Then he watched in disbelief as Fu Yuanchao actually began peeling the orange.

Fu Yuanchen’s eyes nearly popped out of their sockets, but he did not dare say a word. His expression became extraordinarily complicated.

Jiang Tang picked up the tea in front of Fu Yuanchao and took a small sip before immediately putting it back down with a look of disgust.

“It is so bitter.”

Fu Yuanchao separated the peeled orange and handed half of it to Jiang Tang.

“I will have them prepare some lighter tea next time.”

Because Fu Yuanchao was busy with work and often needed strong tea to stay awake, the tea prepared at home had naturally always been based on his preference.

Fu Yuanchen’s jaw practically dropped to the floor.

Was this really his brother?

Something flew straight toward him. Fu Yuanchen instinctively reached out and caught it, only to discover that it was the other half of the orange Fu Yuanchao had just peeled.

Fu Yuanchen held it with trembling hands as though he had just received some extremely rare treasure.

Jiang Tang put a segment of orange into her mouth. The sour and bitter juice burst across her tongue, and she almost lost control of her expression.

Jiang Tang fell silent.

She turned around and fed all the remaining orange segments to Fu Yuanchao.

“Thank you for peeling the orange. We will have half each.”

Fu Yuanchen, who had just finished eating the entire orange, fell silent.
