18 – Saving the Village Demon
Sang Mohan cast a cold glance at Qin Yue, and she immediately felt a chill wash over her.
Just as she was about to say something, hurried footsteps suddenly sounded from outside, followed by Sang Zhen Tian and Chen Shuzhen entering.
Seeing their son in good spirits and Qin Yue looking exhausted, they couldn’t help but feel puzzled—how was this woman still alive?
Yesterday, they had heard loud commotion from the room and assumed Qin Yue had been drained of blood and killed by their son. They had specifically brought a mat from home to collect her body, never expecting the woman to be alive and well.
If their son hadn’t drunk her blood, how had he survived?
Chen Shuzhen’s face showed an expression of disbelief: “You… you actually…”
Qin Yue glanced at the mat she was holding, smoothed her messy hair, and smiled faintly: “What, already planning to collect my corpse? Are you disappointed that I’m not dead?”
Chen Shuzhen’s face flushed with guilt: “You know everything? Please don’t blame me. I had no choice but to do this to save my son’s life… I hope you can understand a mother’s desperate heart.”
“Hah, your son is your precious darling, but am I not my own mother’s precious darling? You sacrificed my life to save your son—aren’t you afraid of facing retribution?” Qin Yue thought of her mother’s thin, weary face from years of hardship, and a pang of sorrow rose in her heart.
“It’s all my fault. Since you’re fine, I’ll take my leave…”
Chen Shuzhen was extremely embarrassed. Though she had countless questions in her mind, she didn’t dare ask any of them. She tugged at Sang Zhen Tian’s sleeve and awkwardly left with the mat.
Yesterday, Qingqing and Cuicui had been sent away, leaving only Qin Yue and Sang Mohan in the house. The air fell into an eerie silence.
The icy aura emanating from Sang Mohan made her feel as if the surrounding air had frozen solid.
Just as Qin Yue was wondering what to do, Meiqiu suddenly popped up: “Hey, now’s the perfect time to warm up the big boss! Be more proactive, okay? I’m really worried you’ll never earn enough Rebirth Points with this negative attitude…”
“Ugh, stop jinxing it! I want to warm him up too, but he’s sitting there with that cold face, pushing everyone away. What should I do?”
Qin Yue felt utterly helpless. She had zero experience dealing with men, especially one as cold and expressionless as this. She didn’t know where to start.
“Just follow those cliché CEO romance novels! If I’m not mistaken, these big shots are all cold on the outside but warm inside. Have a heart-to-heart with him, be extra nice to him, soothe his wounded soul, or cook for him and give him a back rub—anything to make him think you’re wonderful. Once he can’t live without you, success isn’t far away!”
Meiqiu paused and winked at Qin Yue. “It’s really not that hard. It just depends on whether you’re willing to sacrifice yourself, hehe…”
That last laugh was full of mischief, annoyingly cheeky.
“Damn coal ball, I’ll pluck all your feathers if you don’t watch it!” Qin Yue gritted her teeth.
“Okay, okay, I believe you! Go for it, I’m rooting for you—” The coal ball nodded vigorously and vanished in a flash.
Qin Yue stole a glance at Sang Mohan. The man was sitting at the desk, spreading out a piece of paper and writing something with a fountain pen. His fingers were pale and slender, and the way he held the pen was exceptionally graceful. She suddenly found the way he wrote quite captivating.”Um, are you hungry? I’ll make you breakfast,” Qin Yue mustered up her courage and came to his side to ask.
